Colleen’s 2020 Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 180, #Poet’sChoice

WELCOME TO TANKA TUESDAY!

It’s the first of the month and you know what that means! Poets, choose your own syllabic poetry form, theme, words, images, etc. It’s up to you!

My poem is an Etheree. It is about my mother in law. Who has been ill since 13th April with Covid19, it is now attacking her brain. MIL is 100years old.

Silent Fear

Torture, trapped here never to move again

Lost, alone in this dark place, of pain.

I will not stop I won’t give in.

But my strength is wearing thin.

Where’s the door, where’s the key

I need to fly free.

Machines beep beep,

I need sleep

Set me

Free.

Colleen’s 2019 Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 142, 1st of the Month #Poet’sChoice

Today is the first Tuesday in the month so we can choose our own two prompts for Colleen’s Tuesday Tanka Challenge.

I have chosen Autumn and Age. I am using each of those words and I am using the form of a Nonet.

Life.

The sands of time run out on my life.

No too fast but the years mount up

Like the seasons we all change

I’ve become Autumnal

In this I see much

Beauty, knowledge

That comes with

Growing

Age

Colleen’s 2019 Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 139 #Poet’sChoice

Today is the first Tuesday of this month so we get to choose the words for our prompt today. Today I want to try my hand at a Haiga. I have chosen the two words, Precious and Deep. My life is a little Deep at the moment and there are many things there in so precious to me.

Beware

This is part of Colleen Chesebro’s Tuesday Tanka Challenge.

Six

O’clock

Amazon

Has been to call

And left the parcel

Outside against the wall.

Jen arrives and parks her bike

This house is still not quite a home

For he is away and she’s alone.

Then she sees the package outside the door.

Full of excitement she gathers it up.

She rushed in doors to open it

It’s a beautiful photo book

Delighted she takes a look

There he is full of smiles

Waving to her from

Across the miles

Suddenly

They are

One.

This is the new mid month photo challenge for Colleen’s Tuesday Tanka. I have chosen to tell a story in the form of a Double Etheree.

COLLEEN’S 2019 WEEKLY #TANKA TUESDAY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 133 #SYNONYMSONLY Plan and Spend.

This week Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday Challenge is to use the words Plan and Spend Synonymously. I have chosen a Tanka this week.

Father Love.

I intend to stay

And while away this short day

In your company

I aspire to be happy

It’s my design to pass time.

COLLEEN’S 2019 WEEKLY TANKA TUESDAY POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 132 Influence and Perception. SYNONYMS ONLY

This is my entry for Colleen Chesebro‘s Weekly Tanka Tuesday. This week I have chosen an Etheree about Nature.

No Say.

I

Have no

Sway over

Nature’s design

The way I see it

Is but my take on things

She will not be persuaded

I understand it is nature’s way

Holding our lives within her tight grasp

As mother her’s is always the last word.

Colleen’s 2019 WeeklyTanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge No. 131 SynonymsOnly

Look who’s back!

Yes at last our Fairy Queen of the synonyms is back. Safely ensconced in Arizona Colleen is ready to set us our Weekly Tuesday Tanka Challenge you can join in here.. It doesn’t have to be a Tanka though as long as it is a poem governed by syllables.

Today’s words to use synonymously are Beginning & Consume.

I have chosen to do a Nonet, one of my favourite forms of poetry.

In the beginning.

When it all started there were just two

All sparkly, wonderful and new.

They had eyes for eachother

Such joys to discover

Snake then wriggled in

Try this apple

It’s good, she

Ate, too

Late.

Colleen’s 2019 Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 126, “Poet’s Choice of Words”

It’s the first Tuesday of the month and that means we can choose our own words and there is no need to use synonyms .

I have chosen to do a Nonet today in honour of the coming spring. My two words are Spring and Hope.

Rules here

Hope springs eternal this time of year.

Winter lingers but have no fear

New life awaits to burst forth

Chill winds hover from north

Tiny buds grow

White, blue, golden

Emboldened

Spring is

Hope.

Colleen’s 2019 Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge No. 120, “Cold & Storm,” #SynonymsOnly

This is my entry for Colleen Chesebro‘s Tuesday Tanka Challenge.

Strangely the temperature dropped here and we had snow which I have a video here. My poem is an Etheree.

Deep Winter

Snow

Silent

Covering

All in silence

The tempest arrives

Freezing, chilling the ground

Squalls whipping up banks of

white

Blizzards persists temperatures

Dropping fast like falling mercury

Noses grow red tingling fingers and toes.
