Colleen’s 2019 Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 145 #PhotoPrompt

This week we are using a photo chosen by last month’s “Photo-Prompt” Poet of the Week Jane Dougherty.

I have gone for the obvious Climate change. I have written an Etheree for Colleen’s Tuesday Tanka Challenge.

The Ending.

They

All said

It would not

Happen, yet all

The waters are rising

All the birds are leaving home

Temperatures are higher now.

Than they have ever been, water boils.

Gia, head bent succumbs to climate change.

Jane Dougherty and Colleen came up with a fun idea. Whoever is chosen as the Photo-Prompt Poet of the Week will choose the photo for the next month’s photo-prompt challenge.

You can use Pixabay or any other creative commons photos – just give attribution to the photographer. If you would like to use your own photos, just let me know that. Please email the photo NLT 3 days before the next month’s photo challenge.

A Final Warning.

Dead

Starfish

On the beach

Are a message

Tell me who’ll listen

The bottle glints brightly

In un-natural hot sun

It too holds a message for us

Our planet is dying as we watch

We were custodians but we have failed.

Can

We heed

The message

Is it too late

Are we spoilers

Is this our sole fate

Can we save the planet

Rescue the land and the seas

Hark the note in the bottle please

Time is galloping away from us

Stop the rape and plunder of mother earth.

********

The above is my entry to Colleen’s Tuesday Tanka Challenge.

Today is the middle Tuesday of the month and I am delighted to say it means we have a picture prompt. Thank you Colleen this one is a beauty which we can take in many directions. I have chosen a Butterfly Etheree , I feel the Butterfly is apt because I have chosen to use the message in the bottle as a warning. We have polluted our seas with plastic and chemicals, injuring and killing our aquatic wildlife. We are mining, deforesting and poisoning the earth and burning a hole in the ozone allowing climate change, It is real. I have not even touched on the ward we are waging.

We (humans) are the cause whether we intend to be or not. We must act now or lose our beautiful home.

Love to you all.

The package.

Six

O’clock

Amazon

Has been to call

And left the parcel

Outside against the wall.

Jen arrives and parks her bike

This house is still not quite a home

For he is away and she’s alone.

Then she sees the package outside the door.

Full of excitement she gathers it up.

She rushed in doors to open it

It’s a beautiful photo book

Delighted she takes a look

There he is full of smiles

Waving to her from

Across the miles

Suddenly

They are

One.

This is the new mid month photo challenge for Colleen’s Tuesday Tanka. I have chosen to tell a story in the form of a Double Etheree.
