42 Day Seven

Jane Dougherty has come up with a theme for May . It is 42, now Jane describes it thus: “42 after Douglas Adams’ answer to the question of life, the universe and everything. The form is like the Cherita in its structure with a bit of added interest. The first line/stanza asks a question or makes a statement that begs a question, the second stanza/two lines sets the scene or the background, the last stanza/three lines answers the question or resolves it in some way.

Why?

The enquiring minds cry

The most important question of youth

There is no answer, in truth

No indecision no proof

The answer is out there but aloof.

My Alto Ego.. I wish.

Kat Myrman was speaking about the sun not dying yet. She said hopefully by the time it did we would have found new planets, even Galaxies to go to. I told her that I was sure I had been born too soon as I have a great desire to travel through space. I want to be a star ship pilot.

Here is a little silliness I wrote some years back for NaPoWriMo

Day 14 NaPoWriMo : today prompt is to write a poem in the Persona of a Super Hero/ Heroine . Well for me there is only one I can pick and that is Kara Thrace alias Starbuck from the New Battle Star Galactica . She has been my hero ever since I watched every episode from every series and the films. She is the best reluctant super heroine ever. In fact I wrote a poem about wishing to be her last year. Sorry I digress.

Starbuck

Beneath this hard exterior there’s no soft marshmallow goo, there beats a heart of stone.

There’s never been any support for me so what I’ve achieved I’ve done on my own.

My parent’s never cared for me much so I never make any deep ties.

The only true love in my life is my star ship and the skies!

There is one man who could ever touch my soul but fate always intervenes ,

When I get together with Will Adarma there’s usually ugly drunken scenes.

I think he only sees me as one of the lads, so make out I don’t give a frack.

But I really fancy him, so ladies watch out or you’ll get my weapon in your back.

We have to save the worlds from the evil Cylon attack

We had them beaten once , but they evolved and now they’re coming back.

They have morphed to chrome and blood all covered with skin.

They are clever now, they infiltrated Caprica with spies

They blew up our worlds so we took the fleet and again flew into the skies.

In Space we regrouped and planned, and I got to work closely with my man.

I will lead what’s left of our pilots and beloved ships

I am the best star fighter pilot but the fracks won’t give me shoulder pips.

It’s true I like a drink, gambling and a good cigar

I am damn good in bed I’ll give you a good time what ever rank you are!

I am the best pilot as I have said before

I shall find the Cylon’s mothership and give the frackers what for!

I’ll rip the skin off Number Six and I’ll show her no quarter.

She beat the living crap out of me and then denied me even water.

I’ll lead you all to safety find you all another world

For I am really an angel that keeps her wings unfurled!

I am that star you see at night when it is darkest before the dawn.

I am the one who will shoot straightest so none of you need be forlorn.

I am the mighty Starbuck , Kara Thrace is my real name .

But what ever you call me I shall save you all the fracking same!

Yup that should of been me!

The above Haiku is totally a work of fiction and has nothing to do with anyone just an answer to the prompt.

K’Lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge. Copper, Silver and Gold.

This is my entry for K’Lee’s and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge. #CosPhoChal.

This week it was K’Lee’s choice of Copper, Silver and Gold.

Rules and Pingback here

And at K’Lee’s also.

Above is front and back of a 1797 Penny (Copper) George 3rd..

For Silver a beautiful commemorative 50pence piece in honour of the D Day Landings in WW2.

Finally Gold. My wedding rings. The large one on the right is my actual wedding ring. It is 22 Karat red gold. It belonged to my Grandmother. My Mum passed it on to my hubby for me. He insisted on paying her so she charged him 50p. That was in 1971. The yellow gold ring on the right is my mother’s narrow mis- shapened 9 Karat wedding ring which I was given after her death. The last ring is my gold engagement ring with a sapphire set in platinum. You can guess how old that is. 😀
