Paloma Faith

The fourth official single, entitled “Upside Down”, was released in the UK on March 15, 2010.

Oh, I don’t care, I gotta celebrate the moment
Gotta own it before it blows away, blows away
Oh, beat my snare, I got a burning in my heart when it’s dark
Can you feel the flame, feel the flame

But there’s a part of me
That used to go and hide in peace
But now I’m touching the ceiling
I’ve found something to believe in
And now all I see, so many possibilities
But now I’m touching the ceiling
I’ve found something to believe in

But oh, I got a feeling that tonight is on my side
(I got it, I got it, I’m gold, I’m shining so bright, yeah I’m gold)
Oh, I got a feeling that I’m gonna be alright
(I got it, I got it, I’m gold, I’m shining so bright, yeah I’m gold)
There’s nothing better than to hear the sound, hear the sound
The sound of thunder when I hit the ground
Oh, I got a feeling that tonight is on my side
(I got it, I got it, I’m gold, I’m shining so bright, yeah I’m gold)

Step by step, I got power in the way that I walk
And I’m here to stay, here to stay
And I feel so high, like a rocket in the sky
And I got nothing in my way, in my way

I’ve got a feeling, I’m shining gold (I’m shining gold)
I’ve got a feeling (I’ve got a feeling)
I’m shining gold (I’m shining gold)
Oh, I got a feeling that tonight is on my side (I’m shining gold)
I’m shining gold
Oh, I got a feeling that I’m gonna be alright
(I got it, I got it, I’m gold, I’m shining so bright, yeah I’m gold)

There’s nothing better than to hear the sound, hear the sound
The sound of thunder when I hit the ground
Oh, I got a feeling that tonight is on my side
(I got it, I got it, I’m gold, I’m shining so bright, yeah I’m gold)

Next up Silver Lining by Mt. Joy. just a fantastic song .

.

Up on the mountain
Caught on the rail line
Up on the mountain
Caught on the rail line

My brother, let the heart just eat
Drink your wine, smoke your weed
My brother, let the heart still beat

And wear your silver lining
Wear it close to your skin

But if it’s the drugs, the women, the wine, the weed
The love that took everything I own
Just take it oh oh oh
And tell the ones you love you love them
And teach only what you know, and oh
You better know it well

We drove from coast to coast
Down in New Orleans
Where the levees broke

You were tripping
I was driving
You were running
I was hiding
And you know I know how that feels
Don’t get cheated kid
Just sweep from your heels
And if you get carried away
Let the music play you through the pain

And wear that silver lining
Wear it close to your skin

But if it’s the drugs, the women, the wine, the weed
The love that took everything I own
Just take it oh oh oh
And tell the ones you love you love them
Teach only what you know, and oh
You better know it well

Up on the mountain
Caught on the red light
Up on the mountain
Caught on the rail line

Silver Lining lyrics © Mt. Joy Publishing.

Mt. Joy have debuted their new song “Silver Lining,” an attempt by guitarist/vocalist Matt Quinn to find some solace after tragedy — in this case, the friends in his community lost too young to drugs, and the devastation they left behind. It’s a compellingly open-hearted piece of songwriting that exemplifies why Mt. Joy have found such a passionate following in little more than a year as a band.

Mt. Joy is a five-piece indie rock band based in Los Angeles with roots in Philadelphia. They consist of members Matt Quinn (vocals, guitar), Sam Cooper (guitar), Sotiris Eliopoulos (drums), Jackie Miclau (keyboards), and Michael Byrnes (bass). The band debuted in 2016 with their single “Astrovan”, recorded in Los Angeles by Quinn, Cooper, and Byrnes. This was followed up in 2017 by the trio of singles “Sheep”, “Cardinal”, and “Silver Lining”, with “Silver Lining” eventually charting at the top spot of the BillboardTriple A charts. On March 2, 2018, they released their debut eponymous studio album. Between the next two years, Mt. Joy performed at festivals and on tour as support acts, as well as headlining a North American and European tour. After a tour with The Lumineers was cut short due to COVID-19, Mt. Joy released their second studio album, Rearrange Us on June 5, 2020.[

Their third studio album, Orange Blood, is set to release on June 17, 2022.

Last up is Rich from Maren Morris. I like this song because it’s simply fun and easy listening and fun lyrics!

.

Rich” is a song recorded by American country music singer Maren Morris for her major-label debut album, Hero (2016). Morris co-wrote the song with Jessie Jo Dillon and Laura Veltz, and co-produced the track with busbee. It was released to American country radio on February 12, 2018 through Columbia Nashville as the album’s fourth and final single.

“Rich” blends elements of country music with reggae and hip hop for a sound that “transcends classification.” The song features “laid-back, breezy” vocals in the verses and a “singalong” chorus. Lyrically, the song details ways that a man has done Morris wrong, framed by hypothetical dollar values for these infractions that would result in Morris being rich. According to critics, Morris’s delivery expresses “hip-hop bravado” and a “sly wit” as she toys with unconventional rhymes.

Happy Sunday Everyone 💜.

Song Lyric Sunday. February 7, 2021 – Colours. Blue, Gold and Silver.

Good morning everyone, it’s Sunday and time for Jim Adams our dashing host to bring us our weekly prompt for Song Lyric Sunday, which is Colors or as I and my compatriates will say Colours. Jim also reminds our original host Helen Vahdati set us this prompt in 2017, hi Helen how are you 💜.

So colours hum so many to choose from which way shall I go? Oh! Yes David Bowie, Sound and Vision, “Blue , blue electric blue” and I chose my favourite version on 2013. To start with.

Sound and Vision” by English singer-songwriter David Bowie which appeared on his 1977 album Low. The song is notable for juxtaposing an uplifting guitar and synthesizer-led instrumental track with Bowie’s withdrawn lyrics. In keeping with the minimalist approach of Low, Bowie and co-producer Tony Visconti originally recorded the track as an instrumental, bar the backing vocal (performed by Visconti’s wife, Mary Hopkin). Bowie then recorded his vocal after the rest of the band had left the studio, before trimming verses off the lyrics and leaving a relatively lengthy instrumental intro on the finished song. Selected as the first single from the album, “Sound and Vision” was used by the BBC on trailers at the time. This provided considerable exposure, much needed as Bowie opted to do nothing to promote the single himself, and helped the song to No. 3. The song was also a top ten hit in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. However, it stalled at No. 87 in Canada and only managed No. 69 in the United States, where it signaled the end of Bowie’s short commercial honeymoon until “Let’s Dance” in 1983.

In 2013, a remix was commissioned for the Sony Xperia Z smartphone advertising campaign.[12] The new mix by Sonjay Prabhakar utilized the original lead vocals and Mary Hopkin’s backing vocal with a new piano part by Rob Gentry. A Parlophone Records digital download was released on 7 October 2013.

Here is the advert that made me fall in love with the song all over again 💜💜💜

Finally here is the original in all it glory ! With lots of photos and videos in this clip it is great! Wasn’t he so beautiful and talented!

In 1977 I had been married six years and had had two of my three lads. My husband’s job took him away a lot at no notice and he worked long hours when he was around. So Bowie and his ilk kept me sane.

“Sound And Vision”

Don’t you wonder sometimes
‘Bout sound and vision

Blue, blue, electric blue
That’s the colour of my room
Where I will live
Blue, blue

Pale blinds drawn all day
Nothing to do, nothing to say
Blue, blue

I will sit right down,
Waiting for the gift of sound and vision
And I will sing, waiting for the gift of sound and vision
Drifting into my solitude,
over my head

Don’t you wonder sometimes
‘Bout sound and vision.

Lyrics from AtoZ Lyrics.

Now we can’t just paint over Mary Hopkin she was an amazing singer too.

Mary Hopkin (born 3 May 1950), credited on some recordings as Mary Visconti (from her marriage to Tony Visconti), is a Welsh folk singer, best known for her 1968 UK number one single “Those Were the Days“. She was one of the earliest signings to the Beatles‘ Apple label.

circa 1968

Here is a song by her Gold and Silver ( also colours) from her 2013 Album Painting my Numbers.

As you can see she has a lovely voice too.

“Gold And Silver”

Dyin’ for the moment
When you lie again beside me
Taste the salty tears
I thought would never end

Gold and silver
Run your river deep inside me
Gold and silver stream
That glistens in my hand

Give me, give to me
Your gold and silver
Give me, give to me
Your gold, your silver

Too long apart
Our love is growin’ stronger
Two hearts, two souls
Run into one

Too soon, too fast
Our love is spillin’ over
I want you now
So take me down

Give me, give to me
Your gold and silver
Give me, give to me
Your gold, your silver.
