The sunset on Porchestet Castle and something is emerging from the mud.

There are men crawling the last yards out of the mud and tidal water that separates where we stand and castle walls.
A Navel instructor in fatigues stands on the wall watching these black clothed and muddy figures.
I ventured to ask him what was happening… He shot us grin and replied, “I asked them to touch the castle walls for me”. Those castle walls were over half a mile away.

We watch them fighting nature who was trying to suck them back into her jaws.
Finally they made it up the steep walls and callapsed on to the pavement. They did look tired and due to the heat they were having water poured all-over them.
Then they had to run back up to their barracks for a shower and hopefully a rest.

Once they all left we left the waters edge and walked the dogs back across the field.
