This is the second week of Wintering Insects Awake (March 5 – 19) Keichitsu 啓蟄24. Every two weeks, we will move into another season in the 24 Japanese Seasons HERE.
This week: Your writing invitation is to choose one of the 24 Forms for your poem. You can use the kigo words and phrases from the Part I challenge post HERE, or you can choose to write your poem to Colleen’s special St. Patrick’s Day prompt below:
☘️ St. Patrick’s Day symbolism—explore the myths and history (many of the words will be kigo words) ☘️
🍀 The Luck of the Irish ☘️
🌈 The Pot of Gold at the end of the rainbow 🌈
I have used Kigo words, March Winds, Winter/Spring, Gold,Pot, Luck, Rainbows, Green.
Every year my Dad had a box of fresh Shamrock delivered from his home in Dublin. We all wore our green buttonhole with pride.
Born on March winds, dad’s box
Sweet memories of home
Made him feel less alone
Green buttonhole.
St Patrick’s Day at school
Daffodils may be gold
This month that is two fold
Winter and Spring.

Spring violet and gold
Rainbows dance in the rain
Searching the pot in vain
Is the luck here.
