Song Lyric Sunday.Cappuccino/Coffee/Expresso/Latte/Mocha .

It’s Sunday again and time for Jim Adam’s Song Lyric Sunday prompt. So it’s all down to our local coffee shop where Jims in the chair!

My first choice is “Another cup of coffee from the Beggar on a Beach of Gold album by Mike + the Mechanics, released on 6 March 1995. This album contained three UK hits, the No.12 hit “Over My Shoulder”, the No.33 hit “A Beggar on a Beach of Gold”, and the No.51 hit “Another Cup of Coffee”. All three songs charted in Germany as well, and “Another Cup of Coffee” was also popular in Russia; “Over My Shoulder” was particularly successful in France, reaching No.9. The album was certified Gold by the BPI for sales of 100,000 copies. Adrian Lee performed on this album as a session musician following his departure from the band, and this was drummer Peter Van Hooke‘s last album as an official member of the band as he left the band shortly after the album’s release. Information here.

“Another Cup Of Coffee”

And she pours herself another cup of coffee
As she contemplates the stain across the wall
and it’s in between the cleaning and the washing
That’s when looking back’s
The hardest part of all

And she always did her best to try and please him
While he always did his best to make her cry
And she got down on her knees to stop him leaving
But he always knew one day he’d say goodbye

Where are your friends
Where are your children
Is this your house
Is this your home
Does nothing ever last forever
Does everybody sleep alone

And he tears the business tags from his old suitcase
As he packs away the pieces of his life
They all love him but they always try to change him
That’s what happens when a girl becomes a wife

And she pours herself another cup of coffee
As the pictures leave a clean space on the wall
and it’s in between the leaving and the loving
That’s when looking back’s
The hardest part of all

Where are your friends
Where are your children
Is this your house
Is this your home
Does nothing ever last forever
Does everybody sleep alone

Don’t look back
Don’t give up
Pour yourself another cup.

“Taylor, the Latte Boy” is a contemporary song by Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich. It is based on their experience with a barista at Starbucks. It is best known for being performed by Kristin Chenoweth on her album As I Am  but was first released by Susan Egan on her 2004 album Coffee House.

The song details the infatuation the narrator has for the coffee boy at Starbucks. She introduces herself and takes various actions to be signs of his affection. She even goes to the extent of saying “I love him, I love him, I love him.”

Regarding the lyrics, Heisler said, “So many of the stories come from my own experience, my own life, I don’t think that much about it… A singer will call and say, ‘What was the motivation?’ I went into a coffee shop and met a cute boy. No Brechtian overtones.” Information from here.

It has been a very special experience collaborating with some of the most talented people in the industry while recording this song.”“Yaad Aayega is a melodic track that perfectly captures what it’s like to open your heart to someone and to embrace what might happen in the future. It sends out a clear message, ‘When one fell in love, how s/he goes through the phase of heartbreaks, how they feel about each other, how they conquer the melancholy feelings, and finally come back in the arms of the loved one. It is a blessing to find someone to love and life whole life with, and this feeling makes it even more special. And working together with them was indeed very gratifying for me,” further added by Naaz. Information from here.

Female, wife, full time mother and Grandmother. I am not as happy go lucky as I used to be but I am still bubbling along on simmer! I have three handsome sons all grown and flown. The youngest married with a beautiful wife and two sons of his own. Back in 2010 I was working, running a home, driving and socializing then bang in a split second all that was gone. I had an accident at home. I broke my back, not for the first time, I had broken it 10 years previously as well. Unfortunately this time I had broken it really badly and it was truly messed up so I had to have two operations. I was told before each operation that the outcome could mean I spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair. Still as some guy once wrote "I am still standing " yes "better than I ever was " I no longer use the walking stick . I had lots of friends before the accident but when things like this happen, you loose most of them. Their lives move on and mine stood still and so they left me behind ...I know that is just the way life is but it hurt and always will. Then I looked around and saw those who were still there for me, these friends are the roses in my garden they need to be tended well. They are the diamonds in the dust. I will of been married 53yrs this comming year. I have found different ways to approach life, use my pain befriend it almost...yer right , well that is what they tell me at the pain clinic ROFLMAO ...... if only I could! I have found an outlet for my fears, frustrations and night terrors . I have started writing poetry if that name can be applied to my writing. I hope I do not come over as a moaning winger. I hope I am past all that. I also hope that you might see how the poetry is moving from very dark through the grey and hopefully in to light. My back is no longer straight it is C shaped because of the injury and I have lost two and a half inches in height but my Pilates and Core teachers have helped me to stand up as straight and be as strong as possible. Pain and depression are still hanging on my arm but I have weapons to use against them and if I say so myself I cope well. I have made lots of new friends, real diamonds. I am also very grateful for all the support and help I have encountered here on Wordpress. Hugs and welcome to everyone who visits.

  1. I really liked the Another Cup Of Coffee video, even though the lyrics were very sad. Taylor really flipped her lever to bring her joy, but I think she was on the edge to begin with. Bite me en la boca I think means she wants a French kiss. Very nice music Willow.

  2. Yes I didn’t comment on that one, but I did like the music, however being in a foreign language always is a distraction as it is like watching a movie with subtitles, which i don’t like to do and the video was a still picture which was very boring.
