#WRITEPHOTO – Lake .

Welcome to the weekly #writephoto prompt!

This week’s prompt is a post with a difference – our first guest photo!

A great big thank you to Sadje over at Keep it Alive – for agreeing to be the featured photo this month. What a beautiful photo to get us started too.

Lake – Image by Sadje

For visually challenged writersthe image shows a lake surrounded by trees and a mountain range in the distance. On the lake edge, you can see a lonesome log floating and a grassy flowered edge.

Reflections.

Is it the blue of the sky
With white clouds skudding by
Or the blue of the lake
With the white flower brake.
Reflections tease us
Reflections please us.
Is it up or is it down
Is it a smile or a frown.
Is the log floating or flying
Are those trees or rushes.
Reflections tease us
Reflections please us.
Ripples spreading from the to the center
Waters so clear you want to enter
Will you sink or will you swim
Or will you fly or dive within.
Reflections tease us
Reflections please us.

Ronovan Writes Decima Challenge Image
You may, if you wish, make some kind of link between the Haiku Challenge prompt of (SAD and Thrill) mine is here . and this Décima Challenge of GROUND in the B rhyme line. This means you could write a haiku post using the prompt words. Then do a Décima post using this week’s prompt uniting the two with a common message.
The 2 CHALLENGES are SEPARATE but CAN BE combined if YOU CHOOSE to do so.

It’s all in the thrill of the chase.
After swinging hips my legs pound.
Playing with me my feelings ground.
By day and night at such a pace.
Life’s good unless you fall from grace.
I never really want to win
It’s the chase that sets me to spin.
Though this one might be different.
This one just might be heaven sent.
Maybe I’ll ask to marry him.

This is part of Ronovanwrite’s Weekly Décima Challenge.

#TANKA TUESDAY WEEKLY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 223, #THEMEPROMPT

It’s the fourth week of the month! Are you ready for a theme prompt? Kat from last month’s challenge picked the theme:

“Pick a Flower” and using one of the syllabic forms we use, tell us why it is special to you.

My mother was a gentle woman, loving and kind, her favourite flowers were Anemone, I have written a Nonet about her and her flowers because I miss her.

Always small yet colourful
Never over assuming
Elf like colour pools
Mother loved these flowers
Open bright and blooming
Nothing pleased her as these
Enchanting little Anemones.

Past loves make me sad
All in the thrill of the chase
Does this make me bad
To desire yet not possess
Once won the prize lacks lustre

April 22: Flash Fiction Challenge

April 22, 2021, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less), write a story about earthing. Put a character’s hands, feet or body and soul into the earth. Who needs recharging? What happens between the interaction? Go where the prompt leads!

For this prompt I have imagined a letter from Mother Nature/ Earth/ Gaia to us all. This is part of the Carrot Ranch Challenge.

My Children

I tried to warn you, painted warnings on walls and billboards with letters 20ft tall screamed, shouted and made a fuss.No one listens at all.The blooms are out in winter and summer flowers peek in spring. Snow falls in summer and sometimes in spring. You’re heading for another drought your reservoirs  almost dry yet you let precious water waste. It’s starting with the the smaller things but soon you will suffer too. This green planet that you call home is dieing. I’m so tired and you just ignore my warning.  From a dieing Mother nature.

Song Lyric Sunday. Bye Bye.

First up though BAY City Rollers frontman Les McKeown died at 65, the band announced today. He died suddenly at home on April 20, with the group paying tribute to the former heart-throb.

Last September his fellow group member Ian Mitchell died.

The Bay City Rollers are a Scottish pop rock band known for their worldwide teen idol popularity in the 1970s. They have been labelled the ‘tartan teen sensations from Edinburgh’ and “the first of many acts heralded as the ‘biggest group since the Beatles'”.

Caterina Caselli (born 10 April 1946) is an Italian record producer, music executive, singer, bass player and actress. It’s a lovely song but despite searching hard I could not find the lyrics but it has arriviederci and ciao in the title and lyrics. …enjoy.

Oceanic is a 1996 studio album by Greek electronic composer Vangelis. It was released in Europe on October 25, 1996 by East West Records, and in the United States on January 28, 1997 by Atlantic Records. A single “Song of the Seas”, with b-side “Aquatic Dance”, was released simultaneously.

The first track “Bon Voyage” starts with the sounds of sea waves, and continues as orchestral electronica. It fades into “Sirens’ Whispering”, which feature beat sequence with melody and choir. “Dreams of Surf” is based around acoustic piano. “Spanish Harbour” also features beat and melody as well Spanish guitar. “Islands of the Orient” is a blend of Tangerine Dream-like sequences, chinoiseriejazzy melody. “Fields of Coral” is the most ambient track on the album. “Aquatic Dance” is built on a synth-bass ostinato and synth-vocals. “Memories of Blue” recalls the “Memories of Green” from Blade Runner. “Song of the Seas” is mellow sequencer-based track, which fades out to the surf sounds that began the album. The album includes effects which sound like whales, ships horns, porpoises, seagulls and even chimes.[1]

The album showcase melodic orchestration, and by sound is more similar to the New-age music rather than his experimental albums.

Goodbye My Lover” is a song by the English singer-songwriter James Blunt, written by Blunt and British songwriter Sacha Skarbek, for Blunt’s debut album Back to Bedlam (2004). The song was produced by Tom Rothrock and Jimmy Hogarth and recorded in the home of actress Carrie Fisher. The single received a positive reception from music critics. It was released as the fourth single in November 2005 and reached the top ten in the United Kingdom, where it became Blunt’s second top ten single. It also reached the top ten in SwedenAustralia and France. In the United States, “Goodbye My Lover” had modest success on the Billboard singles chart, where it reached number 66 on the Billboard Hot 100 due to digital downloads, even though the single was not yet released in the US. The song was formally released in the United States on 7 November 2006.

The success of the band continued to grow into 2017 where they were awarded “Folk Band of the Year” at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards. Amini then followed to be named the 2018 “Musician of the Year” at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Their debut album, Abyss, was released in 2016, and their second album, Beyond, was released in 2018. That same year, they received the Belhaven Bursary for Innovation in Scottish Music, the largest music prize in Scotland.

Like Dice

Altered carbon and stardust we
Play along the vast universe
Then, thrown like dice it is a curse.
Untethered by mortality
We glide about the galaxy.
Waiting patiently to be called
To join race and be enthralled.
Spiralling down we fall to earth
With pain we experience birth.
To start anew until recalled.

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS April 24, 2021

Badge by Shelley Krupa.

It’s time again for #SoCs and our host LindaGHill said: “Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “oop.” Find a word with the “oop” sound in it and use it in your post. Enjoy!”

Oops I’ve done it again!

So what can I say I seen to bumble through life making the same mistakes over and over, forever jumping through hoops. It’s like an never ending loop, I troop on trying to cope.

I just think I am doing well when I make another bloop and in all my troubles swoop. As ever I end up in the dog poop. So it’s farewell from me the nincompoop.

Well that’s enough of me … Here is an Acrostic Poem to finish off!

Acrostic Oops.

Oops life takes an odd turn
Only I repeat all my mistakes.
Plainly I watch my plans burn.
Swinging on the hoopla that life takes.

Part of LindaGHill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday.
