No Half Measures

Language matters.

Let me say that again, language matters.

Here’s how Adiba describes how MBC patients look at the “battle” terminology:

As a person who loves control and wants to have control, losing control over so many things as a forever patient has been a rough transition for me personally. One thing no one has control over (except, of course, God) is how our bodies respond biologically to the treatments. No two people are exactly alike and no treatment results in the exact same result.

We don’t have any control over how our bodies respond or the cancer cells, so we have no way to “fight,” and the end of that metaphor is we “lose” when we die. Once we are diagnosed, we have lost. Ronovan Writes Décima Poetry Challenge Prompt No. 27 (BLISS) This week, it’s the A rhyme line.

This week Rononavan chose the word BLISS as our Décima prompt.

You may, if you wish, make some kind of link between the Haiku Challenge prompt of (DRIP & DROP). and BLISS.

The 2 CHALLENGES are SEPARATE but CAN BE combined if YOU CHOOSE to do so.

Welcome to the Décima Poetry Challenge. Each week we’ll be attempting a Décima, also known as an Espinela, poem.

If you don’t know how to write a Décima, click HERE to go to a post on How to Write an Espinela or Décima Poem.

I have combined my Haiku with my Décima again this week.

BLISS IS A QUIET TAP!

For that drip to stop would be bliss.
The constant drop of water hurts.
Drip drop, drip drop, it comes in spurts.
So tired from all the sleep I miss
It stirs my water works to piss
I’ve changed the rubber grommet thing
Thought that had worked, it made me sing.
Last night it started up again
Threw me into a world of pain.
Can someone save me from this din?
