The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS March 12, 2022

Badge by Shelley Krupa..

LindaGHill is hear again to give us this week’s prompt. : “Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “trip.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!”

Trip can mean a holiday or a journey, it can mean falling flat on your bum or your face! You can trip people up in a lie as in catch them out. Below is a Décima I wrote last year for Ronovanwrite’s Weekly Décima Challenge. I originally wrote it about Libia. Today what I wrote about Libia is still true . I stream of consciousnessly changed the verses to fit Ukraine to fit all wars also. So this poem started out about Libia it took a trip and became a poem about Ukraine.

Décima .Trip in the B line . The original poem is here

A décima for Ukraine

Line of blood drawn in snow or sand.
Poison and fear begin to drip
Over the evil rules you trip
The men stand with guns in hand
Take the children to safer land
Every inch you have ever gained
Corridors to freedom are drained.
Deserted, left now high and dry
False promises, innocents die
Lost forever the freedom gained.

Ronovan Writes Décima Poetry Challenge Prompt No. 100 (ROAR) in the D rhyme line.

Ukrainian emergency employees and volunteers carry an injured pregnant woman from the damaged by shelling maternity hospital in Mariupol, Ukraine.Ukrainian emergency employees and volunteers carry an injured pregnant woman from the damaged by shelling maternity hospital in Mariupol, Ukraine.

The innocent.

The season is a changing fast
The bulbs are pushing up through snow
Their roots are spreading down below
Above there’s war, bombs fall and tanks blast
Nature hears the echos of the past.
She wonders will man ever learn
As innocents they crush and burn.
The Russians lie and will ignore
It is false news the liars roar.
Against evil we must stand firm.

Ronovan Writes Décima Poetry Challenge Prompt No. 99 (HOOK) in the C rhyme line.

Ukraine held fast in Russia’s grip
Kyiv, Kharkiv are now household names
While evil Putin plays his games
Ukrainians brave, will not quit
They soldier on while missiles hit.
Russian people are on the hook
The news is all from Putin’s book.
They’re lied to and kept in the dark
While jackboot stamps and war dogs bark.
The world must act, the world must look.

The golden Wyvern circles high
He dips and dives and gives a swoop
Heart full of joy he loops the loop
Scales sparkle as he sails the sky
T’is true magic to see him fly.
The Golden sunset is his cue
To be up, he has things to do.
A fantastical sight is he
To see a Wyvern roaming free
Fire from nostrils, scales green and blue.

The dance of life.

Always put your best foot forward.
Set your pace to life’s new tempo.
Like a dance be it fast or slow
There is so much to be explored.
Skip and twirl to gain your reward.
This is not a practice, so move!
Keep on your toes, keep in the groove.
Step up, the beat is on the rise
Don’t get left behind as time flies.
This dance of life’s. made to sooth.

Ronovan Writes Décima Poetry Challenge Prompt No. 91 (READ) in the C rhyme line.

Read, to escape.

Books are really my true delight
An escape from the stress of life.
Where my imaginations  rife
A door from which my mind takes flight
A fantasy or mortal plight.
Give me a book and I will read
Of life and love, of hate and greed.
Of space ships and a planet cursed
Lieing villains doing their worst
Oh yes give me a book I plead

It’s time for broke bridges to mend.
Christmas is a time to spread love
The message from heaven above
Reach out now to a long lost friend.
Truth is the best message to send.
The tree is decked with sparkly things
Yet who’s round it fills us with grins.
A time for love and happiness
A chance for us to make progress.
Joy to the world we hope it brings

HOMELESS DÉCIMA

Winter’s chill nips badly shod feet
Cold wind burns cheeks and makes them glow
That cough worsens, makes concerns grow
A gift of hot coffee, so sweet
Not often an angel you meet.
You see them on the street and sigh
Their life stories will make you cry.
Spare a thought for them just reach out.
You could really help them no doubt.
Share Christmas cheer around, please try.

Charity

Seasons greetings to one and all.
A cup of cheer and food that is rich.
It Christmastide so throw the switch.
Celebrate go on have a ball
Sod those who have nothing at all.
Homeless people on the cold street
Spare them a thought give them a treat
Charity may begin at home
They need our help out there alone.
Help them, it’s not such a great feat.

I do  not  know  who  this  man is but  I have used his  face more  than once when  writing  about  compassion. There  is  something  in his  eyes that  reach out  telling  his  story pain, grief  rejection it is  all there!

I used  his  face  last  at Christmas while I was  talking  about  Crisis at Christmas .  Crisis is  the National Charity  for single  hopeless people. They  are dedicated  to  helping  people  and  giving  them a chane  to change  their life’s for the better, to give  them hope.

The  Charity  works  all year  round of  course  but  they  also do  Crisis at Christmas.  Volunteers spend a  fortnight  cooking, providing  a  warm place  to stay  for those  lost and lonely people. They  give  them new  clothes, a  hair cut   and  also help  them  to change  their  lives if  they  want  to. They  help  with  finding somewhere  to live  or a job  interview .

They  show  real  compassion  they  help  and  they are unpaid and  they  really  make  a  difference.

I am a week late with this one .

We are stuffed

This world has truly had enough
There’s no coming back from the edge.
We’re gone too far out on the ledge.
The rich just take and hoard their stuff
The rest of us just take the rough.
Where is the kindness, where’s the care
Rich live off the poor, that’s not fair.
Earth is tired of us parasites
Rich or poor to her we’re just mites.
Injustice just too much to bear.
