Ronovan gave us the prompt words, Eye and Light for our Tuesday challenge so I am going to try and continue in the same vein.

Eye and Light Décima

Eternally on quest for light
Constantly opening our souls
Eyes searching the ultimate goal
Slowly we emerge from the night
Behold the planet and its plight
Where is kindness, we have lost care
Mindless to how others will fair
We tread on those who try to rise
Forgetting the good things we prize
Eyes closed, to true light, unaware.

Ronovan Writes Décima Poetry Challenge Prompt No. 16 (GROW) This week, it’s the C rhyme line.

Welcome to the Décima Poetry Challenge. Each week we’ll be attempting a Décima, also known as an Espinela, poem set by Ronovanwrite’s.

Ronovan say “If you don’t know how to write a Décima, click HERE to go to a post on how to write one.Or…Keep reading and find out, with an example included.

He also said “One last thing before we jump in the creativity pool, check out my weekly Haiku Challenge that often has prompts (Destruct and Self this week) that share a central theme, at least in my head, with the Décima Poetry Challenge prompt.”

The Gambler Décima

Always with an eye to the chance
The wheel of fortune spins around
Your spirits high feet don’t touch the ground.
Destruction leads a merry dance
Self denial your chosen stance
Fortunes lessen,they never grow
Your luck revolves like ebb and flow.
Self destruction the gamblers trait
There is no escape from this fate.
Loss of esteem the final blow

Mankind

What is the measure of our lives
Not caring of our type or kind
Keeping ourselves only in mind.
Selfish thoughts are all that us drives
We ignore and avert our eyes
Not a care for those who struggle
Ignore the poor in their huddle
Strip nature of all her riches
Waste water leaving dry ditches.
Mankind leaves nothing but muddle.

Ronovan Writes Décima Poetry Challenge Prompt No. 13 (TRUE) This week, it’s the C rhyme line.

This is part of Ronovanwrite’s Décima poetry challenge which is also linked to his Weekly Haiku Challenge.

We are diminished as a whole
Like ever decreasing circles
Drifting out to Gaia’s center
Gentle ripples in times echo
Resounding loudly as they go
We’ve nearly lost fight it’s true
Blackening the earth and skies too
Can we escape the sands of time
Or will the bells ring out deaths chimes.
Is there anything we can do.

Ronovan Writes Décima Poetry Challenge Prompt No. 12 (WIND) This week, it’s the B rhyme line.

This week for Ronovanwrite’s Décima Challenge I have used the word Wind, for the purpose of the rhyme, in the meaning of to wind up. Though I have hinted at a wind blowing too. I have also linked the Décima to Ronovanwrite’s Weekly Haiku Challenge.

Intent and Thought.

Through boughs intent on destruction
Tearing like a hurricane’s wind.
Such violence rips up my mind
Thought scattered around, disruption
No direction no conduction
My demise is its sole intent
Mindlessly hither and dither I’m sent
lt’s intention, to destroy me
To shipwreck me in misery.
Asunder I am slowly rent.

Ronovan Writes Décima Poetry Challenge Prompt No. 7 (DREAM). This week, it’s the A rhyme spot.

Image from Pixabay

Fearful I am trapped in this dream.
At odds I stand against the night
Lost in shadows longing for light.
Breathing deeply my mind I clear.
I am rooted to the spot with fear.
To make my escape I am keen
From this unwholesome and dark theme
In vain I try to forge ahead
Feet sinking in this mire of dread.
Reality just elusive.

This is part of Ronovanwrite’s Décima Challenge. For this particular challenge the word DREAM must be one of the A position words. Then the other two C position words must rhyme with DREAM.

******

Here is the quick description of a Décima:

There are 10 lines (stanza) of poetry that rhyme but in this case there is a set rhyming pattern we must stick to.
In addition each line must only have 8 syllables.
The rhyme pattern is;
a b b a a c c d d c
For this particular challenge the word DREAM must be one of the A position words. Then the other two C position words must rhyme with DREAM.

Ronovan Writes Décima Poetry Challenge Prompt No. 6 (Eye). This week, it’s the B rhyme spot.

Image from Pixabay

Through deserted streets I wondered
Hiding the real fear in my eye
Not a soul left in the cities.
Gone, nothing left to be conquered.
All doors locked tight none to entered.
Escape to the country I try
Fear of shadows make my feet fly.
The pale moon my only whiteness .
Wearing my cloak of loneliness
To out run death I always strive.

Ronovanwrite’sDécima Poetry Challenge #5. Mate.

The Huntsman.

Image from Pixabay

Cruel hunter kills the feamale

Uncaring of her young ones plight.

One wonders will he sleep this night.

Oblivious to storking male

The huntsman sits and quaffs his ale.

Heart broken by loss of his mate

Bear moves in, full of hate.

The human creature kills for sport

For the life he stole he cares nought

Death too gruesome to contemplate.
