This week’s challenge is to build your song picks around April-born singers, songwriters, or musicians.. I like this and decided to do a little twist on the prompt. I picked four artists and did a now and then . Happy Birthday Month to Peter Frampton, Susan Boyle,Janis Ian and John Oates.
First up the gorgeous :Peter Kenneth Frampton (born 22 April 1950) is an English-American guitarist, singer and songwriter who rose to prominence as a member of the rock bands the Herd and Humble Pie. Later in his career Frampton found significant success as a solo artist. He has released several albums, including his breakthrough album, the live recording Frampton Comes Alive! (1976), which spawned several hit singles and has earned 8× Platinum by the RIAA in the United States.[3] He has also worked with various other acts such as Ringo Starr, the Who‘s John Entwistle, David Bowie, and both Matt Cameron and Mike McCready of Pearl Jam and Joe Bonamassa. Susan Magdalane Boyle (born 1 April 1961) is a Scottish singer. Her debut album, I Dreamed a Dream (2009), is one of the best-selling albums of the 21st century, having sold over 10 million copies worldwide, and it was the best-selling album internationally in 2009. In 2011, Boyle made UK music history by becoming the first female artist to achieve three successive albums debut at No.1 in less than two years. In 2012, Susan was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome. Susan had a minor stroke in 2022. She revealed the news during an appearance on June 4, 2023, after her performance on Britain’s Got Talent. More information here
Janis Ian (born Janis Eddy Fink; April 7, 1951) is an American singer-songwriter who was most commercially successful in the 1960s and 1970s. Her signature songs are the 1966/67 hit “Society’s Child (Baby I’ve Been Thinking)” and the 1975 Top Ten single “At Seventeen“, from her seventh studio album Between the Lines, which in September 1975 reached no. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. There is so much more to know about this wonderful woman I urge you to check out her Wikipedia page it’s amazing.
John William Oates (born April 7, 1948) is an American musician, best known as half of the rock and soul duo Hall & Oates along with Daryl Hall. He has played rock, R&B, and soul music, serving as a guitarist, singer, songwriter, and record producer.
Although Oates’s main role in the duo is being the guitarist, he also co-wrote many of the top 10 songs that they recorded, including: “Sara Smile” (referring to Hall’s then-girlfriend, Sara Allen), “She’s Gone“, and “Out of Touch“, as well as “You Make My Dreams“, “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do)“, “Maneater“, and “Adult Education“. He also sang lead vocals on several more singles in the Hot 100, such as “How Does It Feel to Be Back“, “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’” (a remake of the 1965 song performed by the Righteous Brothers), and “Possession Obsession“. In 1986, Oates contributed the song “(She’s the) Shape of Things to Come” on the soundtrack to the 1986 film About Last Night. He also co-wrote and sang backup on the song “Electric Blue“, recorded by the Australian band Icehouse, which was a Billboard top 10 hit.
Oates was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004, and in 2014 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a member of Hall & Oates. His memoir, Change of Seasons, was published in 2017.
In November 2023, Daryl Hall sued John Oates and filed a temporary restraining order against him, for initially undisclosed reasons. The following week, Hall filed a declaration accusing Oates of “the ultimate partnership betrayal” for planning to sell his share of the duo’s publishing to Primary Wave Music. Oates responded that Hall’s statements were “inflammatory, outlandish, and inaccurate”. More information here

What a great post, Willow! ❤
Thank you Ruth it was an interesting journey 💜💜
Great birthday selections, Willow! 🎂 🥳
Thank you Nancy , just thought I’d add a little twist 😜💜
Nicely done! And thanks for a vid with my man Daryl. 😍
He’s not bad is he 💜💜
Not even a little bit! 😍
💜💜💜
What a great idea. Although sometimes I wish I hadn’t seen a favourite performer in their later years. Janis Ian is as lovely as ever and Daryl Oates has aged not badly. But what happened to Peter Frampton? He was such a cutie. I recall seeing The Righteous Brothers perform in their later years and was worried Bobby Hatfield would have a heart attack on stage. It was not a good experience.
Peter Frampton must of had a hard life at some point or too good even! I look at Keith Richards and fear the reaper bless he was gorgeous too!!
Janis Ian’s is amazing isn’t she 💜💜
Such fantastic choices for April and for once, I know them all! Susan Boyle’s rendition of I Dreamed a Dream still gives me goose bumps!
Susan Boyle is such an amazing woman who has had a lot to deal with in her life. Amazingly she has triumphed. A real lesson in Never judge a book by it’s cover 💜💜💜
And she had a stroke and has worked to get her voice back!
I know Noelle she is amazing 💜💜
these were great! Peter Frampton looks like a grandpa..hahaaa. I like his voice which doesn’t sound bad even today.
Susan Boyle was so good and look at those girls who would have e probably bullied her in high school along with Piers. She looks good now and sings that song with that other lady wonderfully.
Janis looks great and her voice is just how it was 50 yrs ago. I have to say, love seeing Jimmy Durante.
Hall and Oates…what the hell happened? Why would Hall place a restraining order on Oates. I have to read more about it. It sounds like Hall wants to make money and Oates doesn’t want to sell out…I don’t blame him. I don’t watch that Masked Singer show but I don’t get how some established music stars get voted off. Who won that season??
love your choices!
I had so much fun with this one … wasn’t Peter Frampton gorgeous way back then! Hall and Oates were great it was a business thing and sadly as so often happens one gets greedy!
Janis lans is just amazing as good as she ever was. And Susan Boyle what can I say … She is legend?!
I can’t help you with who one the Masked singer because I don’t watch it . Have a great week 💜💜
Great picks! I loved Peter Frampton in my teen years. I had a crush on him. :) Hall & Oates is a great oldies group. They really have some great hits. What wonderful music this morning! Thanks for joining the party, Willow. Have a boogietastic week! xo
Thank you Cathy and you too 💜

She is brilliant 💜💜
Janis Ian is fav of this group !
Yes I agree she is amazing and she is as good now as she was then 💜💜
Wow! Who knew so many artists were born in April? This was a fabulous collection of music. I remember Susan shocking the world on Britain’s Got Talent.
They are all great artists are they! As for Susan Boyle she is such a great talent . She taught us all a wonderful lesson… Never judge a book by it’s cover. ..Not unlike Gloria’s message 💜💜
Well said, Willow! Gloria would certainly be smiling. 😀
Yes indeed 💜💜
😍
