Oops and Ouch.

Well we are back to normal at the Eurovision …U.K. came second to last at position 25 ! I thought our song deserved a little more love to be fair.

The show though put on in Liverpool as host for last year’s winners Ukraine was AMAZEBALLS &BONKERS! I loved it! Sam Ryder, last year’s runner up did a great job entertaining us while the votes were sorted . His new song Mountain is wonderful and inspiring …

“I am a mountain
And down in the valley below
Is all that I’ve overcome
All that I’ve overcome, woah-oh
” just part of the beautiful lyrics, Sam was joined on stage by dancers with disabilities and prosthetic limbs to show you can overcome. Another suprise was Roger Taylor from Queen playing the drums. Do watch the video it great.

And of course Ukraine who won last year but could not host because of the war came in 6th place . They had their party at our house 🌹

Who won ? Loreen from Sweden…well done Sweden. Interesting song.

Ah well there’s always next year. 😄💜💜💜

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS May 6, 2023

Badge by Shelley Krupa..

A confused but lovely Linda has given us our prompt for SoCs this week she said: Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “a song from your childhood.” Think of a song from your childhood and just write. Have fun!

As a child our house was full of music, from Pat Boone to Adam Faith and all types in-between!
Mum and Dad were both deaf but they had a little hearing and they had their favourites too, Mum loved the big musical show numbers from Carousel , South Pacific , Porgy and Bess …she also loved Roger Whittaker. Dad loved classical music and his favourite was Maria Callas. They influenced me as did all my brothers and sisters!
As I said, from Pat Boone to Adam Faith and beyond and all points in-between. Maybe that is why music is so important to me.
Now what on earth among all this music stands out as a song from my childhood? It’s very hard but two stick out and they are both very different.

Adam Faith Who Am I

And Roger Whittaker, Mum’s favourite, The Last Farewell.

Both bring back floods of memories.

This is part of LindaGHill’s Steam of Consciousness Saturday.

Stream of Consciousness Saturday. Song.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “song.” First, find a picture–the closest one to you. Your prompt is the title and/or the lyrics of the first song that comes to mind when you look at the picture. Have fun!

So I went into my photos and I found this photo taken by my daughter in law of our grandsons. The moody sky and setting really made me think of this song.

Well there can be only one song. He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother. By The Hollies.

This is part of LindaGHill’s #SoCs.

Song Lyric Sunday.Give/Get/Take/Receive/Send

It’s Sunday again and time for Song Lyric Sunday, brought to us by our brill host Jim Adams. Our prompt this week for March 15, 2020 is Give/Get/Take/Receive/Send

Okay firstly lets go with Gamma Pulse and Give and Take.

Give & Take” is a song by Belgian drum and bass producer Netsky. The song was released on 16 January 2012 as a digital download in the United Kingdom. It became the first single from his second album 2. The single peaked at number 196 on the UK Singles Chart, number 30 on the UK Dance Chart and number 28 on the UK Indie Chart. Information here.

Gamma Pulse released this song in 2015.

My second choice is Alanis Morissette singing Receive

Alanis Nadine Morissette (born June 1, 1974) is a Canadian-American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. Known for her emotive mezzo-soprano voice, Morissette began her career in Canada in the early 1990s with two mildly successful dance-pop  albums.Afterwards, as part of a recording deal, she moved to Holmby Hills, Los Angeles and in 1995 released Jagged Little Pill, a more rock-oriented album which sold more than 33 million copies globally and is her most critically acclaimed work. Her follow-up album, Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, was released in 1998. More info here.

Receive” is a song by Canadian-American recording artist Alanis Morissette, released as the third single from her eighth studio album, Havoc and Bright Lights (2012). The song was written by Morissette and Guy Sigsworth, and produced by Joe Chiccarelli. It is a rock ballad about a relationship in which one person gives more than the other, and the wear it causes to the people involved.

And finally memories of my childhood the wonderful Adam Faith singing Send a Message to Martha (Kentucky Bluebird).

Terence Nelhams-Wright (23 June 1940 – 8 March 2003), known as Adam Faith, was an English teen idol, singer, actor and financial journalist. He was one of the most charted acts of the 1960s.He became the first UK artist to lodge his initial seven hits in the Top 5. He was also one of the first UK acts to record original songs regularly.

Spread your wings for New Orleans
Kentucky bluebird, fly away
And take a message to Martha, message to Martha
She sings each night in some caf?
In her search to find wealth and fame
I hear Martha has gone and changed her name

It’s a year since she was here
Kentucky bluebird, fly away
And take a message to Martha, message to Martha
Tell her I love her more each day
As the train pulled out down the track
Martha promised she’d soon be coming back

Oh, tell her how my heart just breaks in two
Since she journeyed far
And even though her dreams of fame fell through
To me she will always be a star

Spread your wings for New Orleans
Kentucky bluebird, fly away
And take a message to Martha, message to Martha
Tell her to start for home today
When you find her please let her know
Rich or poor, I will always love her so

Fly away, Kentucky bluebird
Fly away, Kentucky bluebird
Fly away, fly away, fly away
