🎶Monday Music Moves Me🎶 New Year Hope.

I am late with is post but I promised Cathy I would be back. I like to keep my word so here I am late but determined to keep up. One of our hosts Cathy from Curious as a Cathy said: “Thank you for joining Mondays Music Moves Me. In honor of the late Martin Luther King, Jr, I thought it would be nice to set this week’s theme by building our song picks around visions, dreams, and hopes for a better tomorrow

So I have dug deep to find songs to inspire us. As we head into 2024 we have nothing much to crow about have we. The four horseman of the Apocalypse are here. But let’s show them the hand! It ain’t listening!

First up Fought & Lost” is a song by English singer-songwriter Sam Ryder featuring English musician Brian May and Bulgarian musical composer George Strezov. It was released as a single on 24 May 2023 by Parlophone Records. It was by written by Ryder alongside Jamie Hartman and Tom Howe, who also produced the track. Ryder performed the song with Hannah Waddingham, at the Grammy Museum.

Second up Elise Hayes combines infectious pop and R&B melodies with heartfelt and meaningful subject matter. She first sparked attention by having many songs featured on TV shows, such as ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” The CW’s “Charmed,” MTV’s “Siesta Key,” and more. I believe in Magic …do you too? We need it to survive.

.

Mr. Blue Sky” is a song by the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), featured on the band’s seventh studio album Out of the Blue (1977). Written and produced by frontman Jeff Lynne, the song forms the fourth and final track of the “Concerto for a Rainy Day” suite on side three of the original double album. “Mr. Blue Sky” was the second single to be taken from Out of the Blue, peaking at number 6 in the UK Singles Chart and number 35 in the US Billboard Charts.

.

I’m Still Standing” is a song written by English musician Elton John and songwriter Bernie Taupin, from John’s 1983 studio album Too Low for Zero. It was the second single released from the album in the UK, and the first single released in the United States.

After meeting Vishal Dadlani of Indian production duo Vishal–Shekhar in Singapore, Heap and Dadlani wrote and recorded the fourth single from the album, “Minds Without Fear”, in the Samode Palace in Jaipur for the debut episode of the MTV India musical television series The Dewarists. Though the song was not initially intended to appear on the album, she decided after recording it that every collaboration she did from then on would be included on the album.

Firework” is a song by American singer Katy Perry from her third studio album, Teenage Dream (2010). Perry co-wrote the song with Ester Dean and the song’s producers Stargate and Sandy Vee. It is a dance-pop self-empowerment anthem with inspirational lyrics, and Perry felt it was an important song for her on the record. Capitol Records released it as the album’s third single on October 26, 2010.

.

Never really dressed without a smile from the musical Annie sung by Sia Kate Isobelle Furler (/ˈsiːə/ SEE-ə; born 18 December 1975) is an Australian singer and songwriter. Born and raised in Adelaide, she started her career as a singer in the acid jazz band Crisp in the mid-1990s. When Crisp disbanded in 1997, she released her debut studio albumOnlySee, in Australia. She moved to London and provided vocals for the British duo Zero 7. Sia released her second studio album, Healing Is Difficult, in 2001, and her third, Colour the Small One, in 2004.

Don’t Give Up” is a song written by English rock musician Peter Gabriel and recorded as a duet with English singer Kate Bush for Gabriel’s fifth solo studio album So (1986). The single version was released as the second single from the album in the UK in October 1986 and as the fourth single in the US in March 1987. It spent eleven weeks in the UK Top 75 chart in 1986, peaking at number nine.

So there you have it my songs of hope. Let’s never give up while we can dance 🎶

Female, wife, full time mother and Grandmother. I am not as happy go lucky as I used to be but I am still bubbling along on simmer! I have three handsome sons all grown and flown. The youngest married with a beautiful wife and two sons of his own. Back in 2010 I was working, running a home, driving and socializing then bang in a split second all that was gone. I had an accident at home. I broke my back, not for the first time, I had broken it 10 years previously as well. Unfortunately this time I had broken it really badly and it was truly messed up so I had to have two operations. I was told before each operation that the outcome could mean I spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair. Still as some guy once wrote "I am still standing " yes "better than I ever was " I no longer use the walking stick . I had lots of friends before the accident but when things like this happen, you loose most of them. Their lives move on and mine stood still and so they left me behind ...I know that is just the way life is but it hurt and always will. Then I looked around and saw those who were still there for me, these friends are the roses in my garden they need to be tended well. They are the diamonds in the dust. I will of been married 53yrs this comming year. I have found different ways to approach life, use my pain befriend it almost...yer right , well that is what they tell me at the pain clinic ROFLMAO ...... if only I could! I have found an outlet for my fears, frustrations and night terrors . I have started writing poetry if that name can be applied to my writing. I hope I do not come over as a moaning winger. I hope I am past all that. I also hope that you might see how the poetry is moving from very dark through the grey and hopefully in to light. My back is no longer straight it is C shaped because of the injury and I have lost two and a half inches in height but my Pilates and Core teachers have helped me to stand up as straight and be as strong as possible. Pain and depression are still hanging on my arm but I have weapons to use against them and if I say so myself I cope well. I have made lots of new friends, real diamonds. I am also very grateful for all the support and help I have encountered here on Wordpress. Hugs and welcome to everyone who visits.

  1. Willow,

I’m so happy you were able to join the 4M party. 🙂 You did a good job coming up with songs of hope. Mr Blue Sky is so cheery. It always puts me in such a good mood. Mr Blue Sky came to visit us today after Mother Nature left us with almost a foot of snow Tuesday morning and it’s been so bitterly cold. I have hope that things will only get better. Spring is getting closer every day. I really like the song title by Sia, “You’re Not Fully Dressed Without a Smile”. I promise I’ll not give up as long as I can dance, too. Have a boogietastic week/weekend, my dear!

    1. Thank you Cathy it’s very cold here well for us we are in the minus Celcius! It’s 2c on its way down to minus 6c tonight very gold for us!! Our skies have been spectacularly blue for a few days today it’s grey….I hope it’s not snow!!!
I am glad you enjoyed the music they are all favourites of mine. …stay warm, stay safe 💜💜💜

  2. That Sam Ryder track blew me away! Absolutely fabulous. He could front Queen on a guest basis and never let them down. One of my favourite ELO tracks , good Katy Perry choice and can’t go wrong with Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel. Elise Hayes was a pleasant surprise. Great mix.

  3. I’m Still Standing is my theme song for today – slippped on some ice and face planted on concrete – bloody nose, fat lip and three stitches in the forehead. And a black eye …but I’m still standing!~

    1. Oh! Noelle I am so sorry, I hope you are not suffering too much now it must have been a nasty shock. Sending you lots of love and gentle hugs 🤗🤗 💜💜

      1. Thanks, Willow. I’m OK but have raccoon eyes – covered by a ton of makeup so as not to scare my grandkids! Hubs will take out the stitches in 10 days or so. At my age, thee sort of things happen – should have brought my crampons with me to Utah!

  4. I ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️don’t give up & I’m still standing has been a pick me up song of mine for decades

  5. The Sam Ryder track (new to me) was fantastic! I also enjoyed listening to Peter Gabriel’s duet with Kate Bush. I know Peter; I only know Kate from her megahit Running Up That Hill. And, of course, Elton John and ELO. Great set this week! Alana ramblinwitham

    1. Thank you Alan I am so glad you enjoyed the music these are my hope songs that always give me a lift. Sam Ryder is amazing isn’t he and he writes all his own songs too 💜
