Music Themes: Hunger

Bear  chose  this  weeks  theme  HUNGER.

Lorde  Yellow Flicker : Mockingjay  Part 1 Hunger games

What is  this came  true?

Years before the start of the series, the thirteen districts attempted to start a revolution against the Capitol. The Capitol won, District 13 was destroyed and, as punishment, an annual televised death match called The Hunger Games was created by the Capitol. Two participants, one male and one female, known as tributes, between the ages of 12 and 18 are chosen randomly in a “reaping” from each district. Children may volunteer as a tribute instead of selection by ballot. They are taken to an arena and fight until only one is left alive.[8]

Katniss Everdeen is a 16-year-old girl from District 12 who volunteers for the 74th Hunger Games after her 12-year-old sister Primrose Everdeen is picked for reaping. She survives the games along with Peeta Mellark when they both defy the Capitol by threatening to commit suicide.[8]

The Capitol is angry at their defiance, which inspires rebellion in several districts. Katniss and Peeta tour the districts, attempting to subdue the rebellion. Then, the reaping for the next Hunger Games takes place. For these games, part of the “Quarter Quell” that takes place every 25 years, winners of past games are forced to participate. When only a few participants remain in the games, including Katniss and Peeta, the arena is destroyed. Three of the tributes, including Katniss, are rescued by survivors of District 13, but the other three tributes, including Peeta, are captured by Capitol hovercrafts.[9]

The rebellion continues with Katniss being used as a figurehead.[10]     more info  here

Elastic Heart: Catching Fire Sung  by Sia

A Future  world vision.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chandelier  by Sia.
A whole generation  hunger  for meaning  in their lives. They  want  a real reason to their  being. They don’t  see it  so  they  drink. They  get drunk  before  they go out  then  they act badly  then  they hunger  for  forgiveness to get away  from their shame… they do not get what  they want  so  they drink more!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Then there is self inflicted hunger,  some starve  themselves  because  they  do not want  to grow up, because  they  are  or have been abused. So  many reasons  for anorexia . Song  from Maria Mena

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Charles Dickens  wrote  the story, Lionel Bart  wrote  the songs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A clever  song  from Marina  and  the Diamonds.  About  how  the  media  and fashion  world  wants  to sell the female  as a perfect (  just as relevant for males too) It depicts one girl  bucking  the system!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The  most reliant song  about  hunger  to this day. Band Aid. Do  they know its Christmas. 1984
Female, wife, full time mother and Grandmother. I am not as happy go lucky as I used to be but I am still bubbling along on simmer! I have three handsome sons all grown and flown.The youngest married with a beautiful wife and two sons of his own. Eleven years ago I was working, running a home, driving and socializing then bang in a split second all that was gone. I had an accident at home. I broke my back, not for the first time, I had broken it 10 years previously as well. Unfortunately this time I had broken it really badly and it was truly messed up so I had to have two operations. I was told before each operation that the outcome could mean I spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair. Still as some guy once wrote "I am still standing " yes "better than I ever was " not quite but with the help of a walking stick and as long as I do not stand or sit in one position for too long, I am still standing! Update I no longer use the walking stick . I had lots of friends before the accident but when things like this happen, you loose most of them. Their lives move on and mine stood still and so they left me behind ...I know that is just the way life is but it hurt and always will. Then I looked around and saw those who were still there for me, these friends are the roses in my garden they need to be tended well. They are the diamonds in the dust, I will of been married 50yrs plus this year . Pain and boredom are my enemies now, I have to find different ways to approach life, use my pain befriend it almost...yer right , well that is what they tell me at the pain clinic ROFLMAO ...... if only I could! I have found an outlet for my fears, frustrations and night terrors . I have started writing poetry if that name can be applied to my writing. I hope I do not come over as a moaning winger. I hope I am past all that. I also hope that you might see how the poetry is moving from very dark through the grey and hopefully in to light ?? I need to update this a little here. I have worked very hard over the years since my accident, I go to the gym regularly, I have a Pilates class and a core class once a week . The guys at the gym and my Pilates teacher cajoled, teased, bullied and encouraged me to abandon my walking stick! :) My back is no longer straight it is C shaped because of the injury and I have lost two and a half inches in height but my Pilates and Core teachers have helped me to stand up as straight and as strongly as possible. Pain and depression are still hanging on my arm but I have weapons to use against them and if I say so myself I cope well. I have made lots of new friends, real diamonds. I am also very grateful for all the support and help I have encountered here on Wordpress. Hugs and welcome to everyone who visits.
  1. Interesting videas and theme Willow. It is true that we often explore the future with SciFi. It gives us the ability to see what may happen.
    Thank You.
  2. Nicely done Willow, Sia is one of my favorite songwriter/ lyricist. Band-Aid ’84 is still as relevant as ever. U’ve certainly captured hunger in your crosshairs! Have a beautiful weekend. 🙂
    1. Thanks Maddie I don’t know why I always seem to come at the themes from a different angle. My husband always tells me I think in an odd way. Big hugs to you. Xxx
  3. Greetings Willow.
    I was betting you would offer something from The Hunger Games and you did. 🙂 Highly appropriate. I avoided seeing that film until I learned what it was about. It’s so relevant to current issues that it’s a great mental horror film. At least I think so.
    Oh and as for Mariana and the Diamonds—Girls Don’t Fight Dirty? Since when? That’s a very interesting pick indeed. I like it.
    Thanks for adding to my musical menu.
    1. Hi Eva, glad you enjoyed the blog.I am always blown away by Sia she is just so amazing. Also I love Marina too, did you like Maria Men’s too. I think eyesore should be compulsory watching, listening and reading for all teenagers!.
