Step back from edge darling hearken to me.
Step back from the edge darling if you want to be free.
No believe me I tell you the truth, I will not lie.
You have no wings darling if you jump now, you will not fly.
Take my hand darling step back here to me.
Give me your trust and I shall help you to see
Things are never as black as the seem
nor are they ever quite as straight forward as they seem.
I have always cared for you, your needs I have always put first.
I have always loved you, always watched over you, often suffering pain as my heart burst.
Step back from the edge darling please give me your hand.
I know this is a dream my darling built only on sand.
I need to save you from your own dark self so listen to me now and move away from the shelf.
Give me your hand darling I alone can set you free.
I am your mother so listen to me.
Step back from edge darling hearken to me.
Step back from the edge darling if you want to be free.
No believe me I tell you the truth, I will not lie.
You have no wings darling if you jump now you will not fly.

Isn’t it strange this urge to fly is so strong in most of us?

Isn’t it odd how a single word can change your entire perspective when it comes to a short story or poetry? I hear the word “mother” and the entire nature of this post changes for me, just for a moment. Knee-jerk reaction. Moving past it though, this is really beautiful and delightfully dark.

I a, sorry do you not get o with your mum.

That’s a complicated question. I just meant that it’s interesting that certain words or the way something’s phrased can completely change the nature of how something is read. It’s one of the things I really love about the written word, it’s meaning is often dependent on the reader. I just thought it was an interesting point, I really do love this post ;).

I am glad you like the post. I understand what you say about the meaning of words and how a song, poem or story can change on a single word or sentence. Many Many couples use Sting’s “Every Breath you Take ” as a wedding cd theme or a first dance…. it is a song about a stalker!!..Sorry I did not mean to pry when I asked about your Mum. xx

LOL, I love that. Have you ever heard “If I Die Young” by The Band Perry? Everyone thinks it’s a super upbeat song because of the beat, but it’s about the death of a young girl. I love it. I wasn’t trying to be short, but the relationship I have with my mother, or with any of my family members really, is hard for me to into words… Perhaps the easiest answer to that is that my post You Hurt Me was based almost entirely on my relationship with my mother.

There are lots of “watch the meanings” sogs out there! Honest I was meaning to pry but I shall read the post . Life can be hard and parents like children are always right, I have learnt that from both sides now… Unintentional but there is a song lyric to listen too Both sides Now by Joni Mitchell xx Have a lovely day XXXXXX http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l18Nc_iOmyI
