This week for Tanka Tuesday poets! It’s Yvette‘s turn again to be our host. Here is what she said about her prompt. “So, for this week, I thought we would play around with the words absorb and repel. You can use one word or both. You can choose to write about energy, emotion, or nature. Or let your mind be as creative as it wants to be! Select any syllabic form that you want to use. You can see a great list here. For an extra challenge, try to add a kigo word connected to your current season.“
I decided to write a Double Ennead . Which comprises of five lines with a syllable count of 6/5/11/6/5, (33 SYLLABLES per stanza) 3 STANZAS EACH = 99 SYLLABLES, NO MORE, NO LESS! You can add rhyme schemes or not. Title this form.
Soul, black as my hat.

Absorb the autumn rain 🍁🍂
Breath the aroma
The dying down of life, turning into mulch .
The Raven sallies forth
He’s black as my hat.
Repel creeping sadness
Corvid’s black eyes spark
Cold the wind that bends me double, shivering.
Absorb the witch’s lore
Raven cries nevermore.🍁🍂
The hard earth is sodden
Life, though, absorbs hope
Repel dark thoughts remember not all is lost.
Raven soars above fields
Dorment for winter.🍁🍂
