We Smiled.

It was a foggy freezing December day
When we all met at the Crematorium our goodbyes to say.
To a larger than life, loud colourful girl
Who with a flash of her eyes could set our working day in a whirl.
I sat there sobbing but she had to have the last word
“Get a grip you silly cow” were the words that I heard.
Then as her coffin disappeared for her final bow
She went out with a flourish to Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’.

******

Karen 1958 – 2010 she always had the last word and laugh. 💜💜. Karen died in 2010 of throat cancer. Her last days were not good in fact the still haunt me . She was a shining light extinguished too soon. The above is the second part of my tribute to her. You do need to read the first part of the poem , in fact it is sad which is why I didn’t repost it all here. If you wish to read it you can here. When I hear “Don’t stop me now I smile for Karen.”

BOOGIE ON EVERYONE 💜💜

Monday’s Music Moves Me is sponsored by MarieCathyAlana, and Stacy, so be sure and visit them, where you can also find the Linky for the other participants.

Female, wife, full time mother and Grandmother. I am not as happy go lucky as I used to be but I am still bubbling along on simmer! I have three handsome sons all grown and flown. The youngest married with a beautiful wife and two sons of his own. Back in 2010 I was working, running a home, driving and socializing then bang in a split second all that was gone. I had an accident at home. I broke my back, not for the first time, I had broken it 10 years previously as well. Unfortunately this time I had broken it really badly and it was truly messed up so I had to have two operations. I was told before each operation that the outcome could mean I spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair. Still as some guy once wrote "I am still standing " yes "better than I ever was " I no longer use the walking stick . I had lots of friends before the accident but when things like this happen, you loose most of them. Their lives move on and mine stood still and so they left me behind ...I know that is just the way life is but it hurt and always will. Then I looked around and saw those who were still there for me, these friends are the roses in my garden they need to be tended well. They are the diamonds in the dust. I will of been married 53yrs this comming year. I have found different ways to approach life, use my pain befriend it almost...yer right , well that is what they tell me at the pain clinic ROFLMAO ...... if only I could! I have found an outlet for my fears, frustrations and night terrors . I have started writing poetry if that name can be applied to my writing. I hope I do not come over as a moaning winger. I hope I am past all that. I also hope that you might see how the poetry is moving from very dark through the grey and hopefully in to light. My back is no longer straight it is C shaped because of the injury and I have lost two and a half inches in height but my Pilates and Core teachers have helped me to stand up as straight and be as strong as possible. Pain and depression are still hanging on my arm but I have weapons to use against them and if I say so myself I cope well. I have made lots of new friends, real diamonds. I am also very grateful for all the support and help I have encountered here on Wordpress. Hugs and welcome to everyone who visits.

  1. I enjoyed “Babooshka” (even if I couldn’t quite hear her), because I actually knew what it means: either Grandma or the kind of scarves Eastern European grandmas wear.

The Gardiner Brothers are outstanding, aren’t they?

  2. You gave me chills reading that lovely tribute to Karen. Such a tragedy!

Your writing is very moving, Willow, straight from the heart. Excellent music today. Thanks for this lovely personal share. 🩶♡🩶

  3. That was a beautiful tribute to Karen, and I smiled knowing she had Don’t Stop Me Now played at her funeral. Nice set overall; I only knew two of the songs. The song that intrigued me the most was the Kidz and Take That. What would happen with an alien invasion? Don’t think it would end in dancing or smiling, sadly. Alana ramblinwitham

    1. Karen was a special person and I wish she had had a better end….it was hard. That said she was lovely, bubbly and she’ll always be remembered.
I am glad you liked the music. The Take That song and video is great isn’t it. Yup I agree I doubt an alien invasion would go that well 💜💜😔

  4. oh, she was far too young to die. That’s sad but i like what came into your head and made you smile. I bet she made sure that would come into your head. These songs were…er…are great. I l9ve those brothers who can really dance up a story. I have no idea how they can move their feet so fast. Let’s hope they never break an ankle. I watch many of their videos. You know, they look like they arevrelated to the Property Bros.

    1. Thank you Brigit yes she was too young to die bless. She made us all smile and I often think of her. … She’ll be up in heaven dancing, cigarette in one hand and a vodka and coke in the other.
The dancing twins are great!! They are from Ireland and as far as I know and not related to the property brothers 😳💜💜💜

  5. I’m sorry for the loss of your friend. Hopefully, the years have soften since she was taken and you’ve found your smile again thinking of her. Thanks for joining the 4M party this week, my dear. Have a boogietastic day!
