Hi and welcome to Monday Music Moves Me. Well as it’s the February and still winter I though I’d go with Winter, February, Fairytales
First up Tim Finn with WinterLight from the film The Chronicles of Narnia. Narnia where it’s always winter but never Christmas. To it 💜
Embers of Love by Mich Gerber, featuring Imogen Heap. Such a beautiful winter feel. The string arrangement of Gerber and Imogen’s words and voice are incredible hypnotic 💜
Any fairytale song full of winter memories and walking with my father. Winter
I had to put the Foo Fighters , it’s even called February Stars…. A stretch maybe but it could be a fairytale.
Back to real fairytales again and Imogen Heap who wrote and sang, Can’t Keep It In, from The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe . From the film series and again Imogen Heap with her beautiful words and voice .
Below another song from the film Lord of the Rings May it Be sung by Enya.
Next is Damian Rice from his Album O, Cold, Cold Water surrounds me ! ….I just love this song… Though Damien is not the easiest person to work with his voice and songs are amazing .
After that we need another fairytale song about cold water and ice. Who better to oblige us than Kate Bush and Under Ice. Definitely from the Grim brothers style a dark nightmare.💜
Finally our last one another scary nightmare but that’s fine because fairytale or not life is all happy endings especially in February! Annie Lennox and Cold .
And that’s Monday’s Music Moves Me for February 5, 2024.
Monday’s Music Moves Me is sponsored by Marie, Cathy, Alana, and Stacy, so be sure and visit them, where you can also find the Linky for the other participants.
A little note. Although my Dad was an Irish immigrant worker at Morris Cowley Oxford he did meet J.R.R.Tolkien’s and CS. Lewis.,they drank in the same pub and my Dad was proud to be part of their conversations occasionally.
Dance when you can, sing whatever byou sound like just never stop loving music. 💜💜💜
Female, wife, full time mother and Grandmother. I am not as happy go lucky as I used to be but I am still bubbling along on simmer! I have three handsome sons all grown and flown. The youngest married with a beautiful wife and two sons of his own. Back in 2010 I was working, running a home, driving and socializing then bang in a split second all that was gone. I had an accident at home. I broke my back, not for the first time, I had broken it 10 years previously as well. Unfortunately this time I had broken it really badly and it was truly messed up so I had to have two operations. I was told before each operation that the outcome could mean I spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair. Still as some guy once wrote "I am still standing " yes "better than I ever was " I no longer use the walking stick . I had lots of friends before the accident but when things like this happen, you loose most of them. Their lives move on and mine stood still and so they left me behind ...I know that is just the way life is but it hurt and always will. Then I looked around and saw those who were still there for me, these friends are the roses in my garden they need to be tended well. They are the diamonds in the dust. I will of been married 53yrs this comming year. I have found different ways to approach life, use my pain befriend it almost...yer right , well that is what they tell me at the pain clinic ROFLMAO ...... if only I could! I have found an outlet for my fears, frustrations and night terrors . I have started writing poetry if that name can be applied to my writing. I hope I do not come over as a moaning winger. I hope I am past all that. I also hope that you might see how the poetry is moving from very dark through the grey and hopefully in to light.
My back is no longer straight it is C shaped because of the injury and I have lost two and a half inches in height but my Pilates and Core teachers have helped me to stand up as straight and be as strong as possible. Pain and depression are still hanging on my arm but I have weapons to use against them and if I say so myself I cope well.
I have made lots of new friends, real diamonds. I am also very grateful for all the support and help I have encountered here on Wordpress. Hugs and welcome to everyone who visits.

It’s funny how many Irish went straight to the political left and the trade unions. Very different from what they left behind.
Maybe that’s why. He was a very political young man who fought many battles for his “men” a shop steward . He progressed as he got older to a TUC congressman …spent every evening dealing with union business..always a stream of people at the door asking his advice…. We only got in the front room during the week daytime, otherwise we’d have to knock the door to say goodbye, goodnight, or for Sunday lunch it was his office every evening.💜💜
Sounds like my granddad. They gradually put the priest in his place too. While still practicing and ‘keeping the faith’ they began to think for themselves. The priests hated the left.
They did ….the Jesuit priests taught my Dad ….what a strange breed they were 💜
They were. Only the brightest boys trained to be Jesuits, and they had an answer to every question about doctrine but they weren’t exactly free-thinkers.
Or even wome of them kind to the poorer boys like my dad, who dared to have a brain in their head 💜
They certainly didn’t like boys with ideas.
Absolutely not ….heritics!
They were still giving them the strap when I was at school. Though they said the Christian Brothers were worse.
Lol that name belies the truth. 💜💜
Yes, it does 🙂
Great choices, Willow. It really is cold and Easter is quite early this year, the end of March. Remember the days we’d get dressed in our finest spring dresses for Easter church services? I really enjoyed reading the note about your dad hanging out with the likes of J.R.R.Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. He must have had some great stories for you and your siblings! Terrific post!
I do remember Going to Church Good Friday for the stations of the cross and again Sunday all dressed up for Easter Mass.
By the time I was born we were living in London so I missed out on most reminiscing. 💜💜
Some very ‘cool’ choices Willow. My favourite Tori Amos track is here. I love the whole of her Little Earthquakes album. Her next one after that was pretty good too 🙂
