A beautiful post from Geoff too good to miss.
Three words for my father, dad, the old man, that ********* arse, silly bugger….
I make no apology for bringing this poem out again, after all I only had one father and this was the first poem I wrote about him.
A tribute to my Father 1905 – 1976

He was a quiet man, he was a helpful caring man.
Handsome in his youth a dashing man,a fighter for rights.
A union man, a fighting for the under dog man, a “I’ll do it if I can man” .
He met my Mum, a wooing man, a handsome flashing eyed Irishman.
A black haired almost wild man, a stand up for what I am man.
A good man to trust your life to and my Mum did,
He was an out in the open man. What see is what you get man, nothing hid.
He worked hard he was a family man. A sturdy, bring home the wages man,
A giver, comforter, a lover man. A home maker man some one to carry the can man.
A there until the end man.
He was a stern man, when you had done wrong, though he was a quick to praise man.
A happy to teach you a lessen in a song man. A teacher man, sometimes a preacher man
An always there when it counted man. He was a father of the bride man, and he handed all his daughters away.
He was the man who supported his sons when they became the married men.
He was a support man, and adviser man the lover of lilies of the valley man.
He was reunited with my Mum man when they saw us all gone.
He was a plain man to the end man, not a flourish and bouquet,
Nor a black magic man,an honest to the end man.
He was a deaf man, but he heard what was important man!
At the end, a blind man, in stature a tiny man in truth a giant man.
A truly missed man , a wish you where here man.
He is a gone but not a forgotten man.
My hubby is a wonderful father to our boys he has helped and supported them all their lives.
Our youngest son is also a brilliant father to both his boys. I am very proud of him. The other two lads are great uncles and I am proud of them too.
My father in law has been dead for over thirty years he was a true up standing and kind man. I have been blessed by the father’s in my life.
Now you have a son
Your work has just begun
You have a lot to learn
But that should not course you concern.
You’ll rush home from work
To bath him. You will not shirk
Your duties as a father that I know
You will delight in him as you watch him grow.
Now there will be feeding, burping and nappies to change
Pacing the floor at night, at first that will be strange.
It may not be plain sailing it may not be all fun
But it is they stuff of life so make the most of him my son.

Olivia Isabel Rodrigo (born February 20, 2003) is an American actress, singer, and songwriter. She is known for her roles as Nini Salazar-Roberts on the Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and as Paige Olvera on the Disney Channel series Bizaardvark. Rodrigo signed with Interscope and Geffen Records in 2020 and released her debut single “Drivers License” in January 2021. It reached number one in multiple countries, including the United States.
Her critically acclaimed debut album, Sour, was released on May 21, 2021. It was preceded by two more singles, “Deja Vu” and “Good 4 U“, with the latter becoming her second single to debut at number one in the US.
“Brutal” is one of eleven songs from Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album Sour. The song resents the idea that one’s teenage years are their best years and shares a sentiment of teenage frustration.
Rodrigo and the track’s producer Dan Nigro wrote the song in two weeks as a last minute addition to the album after the unprecedented success of her debut single “drivers license“.
Kate Anna Rusby (born 4 December 1973)is an English folk singer-songwriter from Penistone, Barnsley, West Riding of Yorkshire, England. Sometimes called the “Barnsley Nightingale”, she has headlined various British national folk festivals, and is one of the best known contemporary English folk singers. In 2001 The Guardian described her as “a superstar of the British acoustic scene.”In 2007 the BBC website described her as “The first lady of young folkies”. She is one of the few folk singers to have been nominated for the Mercury Prize.
Underneath The Stars was Kate Rusby’s sixth album released in 2003. Cruel features on the album and is a traditional song from Lancashire. I’m not sure exactly when this performance is from but it’s somewhere between 2003 and 2008. Rusby sings many traditional songs, songs that are steeped in history, the album also features The Blind Harper, her favourite traditional song. Follow the link below to find out more about it:
Bahari is an American alt pop, electronic and dark pop musical duo, previously a trio, composed of Ruby Carr and Natalia Panzarella. Sidney Sartini left the band in 2018.
18-year-old Southern California singer, songwriter carolesdaughter, born Thea Taylor, translates turmoil and disorder into oddly soothing pieces of alternative pop. Throughout her life she often felt like an outsider where she would spend a large part of her turbulent youth hopping between schools before eventually deciding to drop out, this lead to her widening her musical palette and stumbling upon the world of punk, hardcore, and goth. During this time she went on multiple trips to rehab before discovering that music was what she wanted to pursue which allowed her to become the unapologetic heroine we know and love today.
Her latest track is titled violent and came about because of a toxic relationship she was apart of and this track was her cathartic release that allowed her pent up resent to finally be released. Somber 808s melt together with a raw acoustic guitar melodies as she delivers these vengeful and fury filled lyrics with her ethereal vocal, adding another spellbinding dynamic to the violently innocent piece. This is only the beginning of carolesdaughter who’s quirkily haunting and demonic sound stands out amongst the crowd in the best way imaginable.
Within the Ruins is an American progressive metalcore/deathcore band from Westfield, Massachusetts, United States. They are currently signed to eOne Music and Good Fight Music. The group has released six studio albums and three EPs.
