Hello it’s Sunday again and time for Jim Adams Song Lyric Sunday. This week the prompt is : August 16, 2020 – Clear/Dark/Light
Let’s start with Clear I picked my favourite singer song writer Imogen Heap and Clear the Area.
The track comes from her Speak for Yourself which was the second solo album by British singer Imogen Heap, following her collaborative effort with Guy Sigsworth as Frou Frou. The album was released in the UK and the US in 2005. It was written, produced, arranged, and funded by Heap, without the backing of a record label, and features guest appearances from Jeff Beck, who provides a guitar solo on “Goodnight and Go“, and Heap’s ex-boyfriend, Richie Mills, who argues with her on “The Moment I Said It”.
Not sure of the true meaning of the lyrics but I see it as a friend checking up on a friend/ lover after a heavy night…drugs, drink, sex what ever. I truly love this song !
“Clear The Area”
Knock, knock…are you alone?
No one’s out here and I was not followed.
Love, love…you’re already home.
Party’s over and you don’t look so good.
You find your way back down.
And I’ll keep the area clear…please clear the area.
When you find your way back down…in one piece.
Then I’ll just be waiting here…right here.
Low light…mercury morning…
No need to stay as it’s always nothing.
But your eyes tell a whole other story…and I feel the weight of the world.
Won’t talk…Won’t try…just move…
It’s too still in your sadness.
Cry…give up…it’s okay…
You’ve just got to trust me.
You find your way back down.
And I’ll keep the area clear…please clear the area.
When you find your way back down…in one piece.
Then I’ll just be waiting here…right here.
Slowly…darling…nobody means anymore to me than you
If you’re in…baby then I’m in (into this)…with you, always.
Careful…close to the edge…(You’re scaring me)
Fall in to my arms….(where did it all fall?)
Fall…into love…love…
You find your way back down.
And I’ll keep the area clear…please clear the area.
When you find your way back down…in one piece.
Then I’ll just be waiting here…right here.
You find your way back down.
Way back down,
And I’ll keep the area clear…please clear the area.
When you find your way back down…in one piece.
Then I’ll just be waiting here…right here.

Next Dark Horse by Katie Perry, I chose the non rap version because I prefer it. 😊
Dark Horse” is a song by American singer Katy Perry featuring rapper Juicy J. It was originally released on September 17, 2013, by Capitol Records as the first promotional single from Perry’s fourth studio album, Prism (2013). Three months later, it was released as the third official single on December 17. Both artists co-wrote the song with its producers, Max Martin, Cirkut, and Dr. Luke, alongside Sarah Hudson. It was conceived by Perry and Hudson during a writing session in Perry’s hometown of Santa Barbara, California, and Juicy J was later commissioned for a verse on the song.
Dark Horse” combines the genres of pop, trap, hip hop and electropop, replicating what has been described as a “Southern rap–techno mashup”. The track features a minimal production, with a “seductive” and “mature” tone to Perry’s vocals, while Juicy J is featured on the song’s intro and rapped bridge. Perry, in interviews, said she wanted the song to have a “witchy, spell-y kind of black magic-y idea”, so she wrote it from the perspective of a witch warning a man not to fall in love with her because if he does, she will be his last. The song was part of a competition sponsored by Pepsi in which fans could vote via Twitter on whether they would prefer either “Dark Horse” or “Walking on Air” to be released as the first promotional single from Prism.
“Dark Horse” was a commercial success, charting at number one in Canada, the Netherlands and the United States. It also reached the top ten in almost 20 countries including New Zealand, United Kingdom, Sweden and Venezuela as well as the Digital Songs chart of Billboard magazine.[1] Billboard credits “Dark Horse” for helping cement trap music‘s place on the charts.[2] Perry first performed the song live at the 2013 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on September 20, 2013. The song’s first major television performance was at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards on January 26, 2014.[3] “Dark Horse” was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. The song has sold 13.2 million units (combined sales and track-equivalent streams), becoming the second best-selling song worldwide for 2014. As of 2019, it is one of the best selling songs in digital history.

Finally one of my favourite Rolling Stones tracks from their Album Their Satanic Majestie’s Request. 2000 Light Years From Home.
2000 Light Years from Home” is a song from the Rolling Stones‘ 1967 psychedelic rock album Their Satanic Majesties Request.[4] Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, it also appeared as the B-side to the American single “She’s a Rainbow“, and charted as a single in Germany.
Jagger reportedly wrote the lyrics in Brixton prison following his conviction on drug charges in June 1967.[5] The song was recorded by the band at Olympic Studios during July and September 1967.[1] The working title of the instrumental backing was “Toffee Apple”. Brian Jones performs prominent accompaniment on Mellotron.
The number was regularly featured during the Stones’ 1989–90 Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle Tours; until 1997, when “She’s a Rainbow” was also added to the band’s stage repertoire, it was the only track from Satanic Majesties that the band had performed in concert. For the first time in 23 years, The Rolling Stones played “2000 Light Years from Home” on 29 June 2013 at The Glastonbury Festival.
“2000 Light Years From Home”
Sun turnin’ ’round with graceful motion
We’re setting off with soft explosion
Bound for a star with fiery oceans
It’s so very lonely, you’re a hundred light years from home
Freezing red deserts turn to dark
Energy here in every part
It’s so very lonely, you’re six hundred light years from home
It’s so very lonely, you’re a thousand light years from home
It’s so very lonely, you’re a thousand light years from home
Bell flight fourteen you now can land
Seen you on Aldebaran, safe on the green desert sand
It’s so very lonely, you’re two thousand light years from home
It’s so very lonely, you’re two thousand light years from home
This is part of Jim Adams Song Lyric Sunday.
Happy Sunday Everyone 😁
I see Imogen made the cut again 💜
Lol what a surprise 😊, are you home yet , did you enjoy your break 💜
Yes, we’re back now, sis. Been a lovely few days and now in the midst of a big clear out at home!
Yes you said that was your game plan. Good luck 🍀💜💜💜
I’m sweating buckets… And that’s just trying to match wires to consoles and consoles to controllers then games to consoles… Then listing them ready to sell!
Who knew how much you accumulate!
I know it’s unbelievable, I hate moving! We cleared our loft out a few years back it’s the best job we ever did. I regularly turn the cupboard out these days. 💜
I did the loft last year, but even so, I think there be plenty for the skip and charity shop!
There always is 💜
good selection Willow
Thank you Di 💜💜
I really like the I open Heap song. I had t heard it before. ☺️💕
I love anything Imogen Heap 💜
I though I typed Imogen! Silly autospell 😕
No worries I guessed 😊
I am so very glad Imogen was posted today. Dark Horse is another good one. This particular Rolling Stones song is a new to me and I like it. You’ve got another trifecta on your hands.
Hi Jilly some of my favourites here. If you liked 2000 Lightyears From Home, you might like the whole Album Their Satanic Majestie’s Request. It’s from their psychedelic era.
How cool 😎 thanks
https://youtu.be/8QmcgU0pk9s I am hoping this is the full album 🤞
Nice music Willow with Imogen Heap and Katy Perry. George Harrison had a bunch of songs where the working included the word Apple. I have listened to 2000 Light Years from Home before but this was the first time I ever watched the video.
Hi Jim glad you liked today’s offers…there was no George Harrison music though or am I reading what you said wrong, I seem to be getting confused today 💜
George Harrison had trouble finding names for the songs that he wrote, so when he started them they all had working titles and the word Apple always seemed to get into the title.
Really, I had no idea , how interesting 💜
Wow! Amazing choices!
Thank you Jen
😊👍💜
💜💜
Good picks! I like the non-rap version of “Dark Horse” better too.
Much better version 💜💜💜
Imogen Heap is really talented. Loved that you didn’t do the rap version of Katy Perry. I can do without that myself. The video of 2000 Light Years is from Interstellar with an all-star cast…starring Matthew McConaughey (Yum), Anne Hathaway (my favorite actress), Jessica Chastain, Matt Damon & Michael Caine. I’m claustrophobic but I was able to get through the movie even though I was uncomfortable at times. Great pics this week! 🙂
Glad you liked the music💜 yes Interstellar great film .like you I can also live without the rap 😳
Hallelujah sister! 😉💜
💜💜
Interesting music this week
Stay well and laugh when you can
Will do , thank you, and you too 💜
Nice selection. Of course Imogen made the list 😉
Of course 😊
