A Décima with fall to rhyme with the B line and to incorporate the words wings and clipped from Monday’s Ronovanwrite’s Weekly Haiku Challenge.

Autumn

Summers wings, well and truly clipped
Autumn is here and leaves will fall.
Smoke rises from the bonfires pall.
Harvest of fruits exotic sipped
Dancing leaves like fairies have tripped.
Squirrels gathering winter’s stores
Birds migrating to foreign shores.
The nights are drawing in so fast
Later mornings, bright sunrise past.
Acorns, chestnuts line woodland floors.

Trapped within this cage
My soul soars high, broken free
Wings clipped, while you rage.

Song Lyric Sunday 7th September 2019.

Hi it’s Sunday again and time once more for Song Lyric Sunday. Our host Jim Adams has set us the prompt of: Bird/Fly/Sky/Wing.

My first thought was Gorge Harrison, my favourite Beatle taking the lead with his song Blue Jay Way. I do believe that is where he stayed for a while in the Hollywood Hills.

“Blue Jay Way”
Written by George Harrison.

There’s a fog upon L.A.,
And my friends have lost their way.
“We’ll be over soon,” they said.
Now they’ve lost themselves instead

Please don’t be long
Please don’t you be very long
Please don’t be long for I may be asleep

Well, it only goes to show
And I told them where to go
Ask a policeman on the street
There’s so many there to meet

Please don’t be long
Please don’t you be very long
Please don’t be long for I may be asleep

Now it’s past my bed I know
And I’d really like to go
Soon will be the break of day
Sitting here in Blue Jay Way

Please don’t be long
Please don’t you be very long
Please don’t be long for I may be asleep

Please don’t be long
Please don’t you be very long
Please don’t be long

Please don’t be long
Please don’t you be very long
Please don’t be long

Please don’t be long
Please don’t you be very long
Please don’t be long

Don’t be long, don’t be long, don’t be long
Don’t be long, don’t be long, don’t be long

Wings at Dawn.

The wind in my feathers, I rise

My sharp eyes see eternity

Making my way into grey skies.

Like my soul I fly free.

The land spreads beneath

From mountains to beach

Golden field and green leaf

As for my destiny I reach.

Tiny pink buds dance in the mist

The day will lengthen and warm

All will be bright and sun kissed

This is the promise of dawn.

Wings.

Lisa opened the door and let Rachel in. She was shocked when she saw the wolf, Rachel had lost so much weight and had a look of  death around the eyes. After  helping  Rachel  up  the  stairs  she  lead  her  to  the  fire  and  made  her a  hot  drink.

“Where  is  he? ” asked  Rachel looking  so  sad that  it  made  Lisa’s  heat break. Motioning  to  the  bed  where  Mathew  lay  sleeping, Fay  sitting  on  a  a  chair  next  to  him.  Rachel  moved  swiftly  to  his  side  giving  Fay  a  warning  look  as  she  approached  the  bed.

“How  long  has  he  been  like  this” she  asked  no  one  in  particular , Fay  told  her  it had  been  almost  a  week  now   since  he  had  been  all but  killed  by  the  warewolf. Rachel  morphed in to  her  human  form , scars clear  for  all  to  see. “Let  me  bath  you” said  Lisa  Rachel  just  shook  her  head  and  climbed  into  bed  with  Mathew  she  wrapped  her  arms  around  him  closed  her  eyes  and  passed  into  a  deep  sleep  almost  immediately.

Fay  slid  from  the  chair  and  left  the  tower , she  descended the  steps  and  waded  through  the  waters  under  the  arches  and  emerged from  the  gloom to  a bright  morning  with  blue  skies  dotted  with  white  cloud. All was  silent  and  still. Fay looked  to  the  east  and  then  the  west    and  wondered what  lay  in  store  for  all of  them.

Up  in  the  tower  Lisa  was  feeding  Hope  softly  humming  as  she  watched  Fay  through  the  window. The  baby stopped  feeding  and  looked her  mother  straight in  the  eye. “Yes ” whispered Lisa, “I  know, little  one, strange and unsettled   times  ahead  for  all  of  us. ”  Outside  Fay  felt  a  shudder  run  down  her  spine , almost  at  the  same  time  the  sky  suddenly  became  black  as  hundreds  of  huge, black birds  wheeled  out of  the  trees  and  across  the  sky.

Mathew  stirred  and  Rachel  sat  bolt upright in  the  bed…….  “Hush”  Lisa  said  to  Rachel, ” rest  while  you  can, the  little  one , here  says   we  must  prepare  to  fight  soon. Bad  times  are  coming  and  we  five  are  the  only  ones  who  stand  between  the  light  and  the  dark.

The Angel catcher.

draft_lens2291003module12615097photo_12

The angel came to threaten me but was not prepared for the sight of me. I was ready and waiting for him. I have had to deal with many of his kin.

I was waiting on the shore to meet him as I have many before. They arrive with lighting flash expecting they will turn me to ash. With their wings unfurled and their swords help high they lose their purpose when they meet my eye.

They all surrender unto me they beg their Lord to set them free. They all submit to me they can’t resist they need to drink of me.

Here I am on the shore with piles of fallen angels’ wings galore. The angry lights in the sky is Him furious with his troops who can no longer fly.

My conquests

So they may come and come again I shall conquer all. I fear not their fiery swords may they come in ones or come in hoards!

They only need to meet my eye for them to lose the will to fly. So I collect their wings and they learn the joys of other things.

So here am I upon the shore thinking not of the day when they will come no more. For now I rest on feathered bed with my fallen angels at my feet and head.
