RonovanWrites #Weekly #Haiku #Poetry Prompt #Challenge #171 Lake&Calm

This week Ronovanwrites has given us the two words Lake and Calm.

I wrote a trio of Haiku, a before, during  and after.

   Lake and Calm

Gently the lake flows

Softly bathed in the moonlight

So deep and so calm

The waves  lap my toes

The water fills me with calm

At one with the lake

Cold, pulled from the lake

In death she looked peaceful, calm

All her travails gone.

You have broken me

Tenderness  is at the heart

Of all that  I need.

Once a work of art

Destroyed, spite lays at the heart

Jealousy maybe

Spoiled because of its beauty

Is this envy what we need.

Poetry Challenge #7 08/07/2012 ARMY DREAMERS

This really is a song but the words are true poetry. I have always loved it as a poem. It holds as true today as it did in 22 September 1980 when it was released as a single. It tells of the grief of a mother receiving the body of her young son who has been killed in action. Her heart is torn in two and she feel guilty for not stopping him from joining up ( as if she could of stopped him) .

She berates herself for the things he could of been, could of done , the marriage he could of had , the grandchildren and his life. …….. Waste all waste  as I have always said time and time again! War is waste!

KATE BUSH

Catherine “Kate” Bush (born 30 July 1958)is an English singer-songwriter, musician and record producer. Her eclectic musical style and idiosyncratic vocal style have made her one of the United Kingdom’s most successful solo female performers of the past 30 years.

In 1978, at the age of 19, Bush topped the UK Singles Chart for four weeks with her debut single “Wuthering Heights“, becoming the first woman to have a UK number one with a self-written song.

Our little army boy
Is coming home from b.f.p.o.
I’ve a bunch of purple flowers
To decorate a mammy’s hero.

Mourning in the aerodrome,
The weather warmer, he is colder.
Four men in uniform
To carry home my little soldier.

“what could he do?
Should have been a rock star.”
But he didn’t have the money for a guitar.
“what could he do?
Should have been a politician.”
But he never had a proper education.
“what could he do?
Should have been a father.”
But he never even made it to his twenties.
What a waste —
Army dreamers.
Ooh, what a waste of
Army dreamers.

Tears o’er a tin box.
Oh, jesus christ, he wasn’t to know,
Like a chicken with a fox,
He couldn’t win the war with ego.

Give the kid the pick of pips,
And give him all your stripes and ribbons.
Now he’s sitting in his hole,
He might as well have buttons and bows.

Ooh, what a waste of all that
Army dreamers,
Army dreamers,
Army dreamers, oh…
