She was a good hardworking girl
Never a problem to her parents, always fair.
Then the visions came and she was in a whirl
Such beautiful people from heaven talked to her.
The Maid of Orleans was her name
She lead the French against the English
For Charles VII she won the battle game.
To aid the Dauphin and free France her dearest wish.
At 16 Joan went to Vaucouleurs, to share
Her visions with the Dauphin
They did not listen, as a child they dismissed her
“Go Home girl,” they said ” to lie is a sin.”
She did return but her visions did not stop.
So one year later to see the Dauphin she returned
The wisdom she had received she refused to drop.
Poor Joan for her faith she would be burned .
This time the Dauphin listened to the maid
He saw her honesty and devout belief
He gave her armed men and the weapons for which she prayed
Her two brothers joined her, in Joan they had belief.
She led the French to Victory the English were Vanquished
She was the Heroine of the day
The Dauphin became the king, he marched forth the English to banish
They routed them at Reims and Paris. Charles VII had his way.
On a dark day in Compiegne 1430 was the year
While fighting, she was caught by Duke Philip of Burgundy
He held Joan captive then to the English sold her, without a tear
Joan knew this was the end, she would never be again be free.
The English tried Joan on grounds of heresy
They decided she had dressed as a man, and then repeated the crime
They took her to Rouen and bound her to the stake for all to see.
The flames of the fire engulfed her she called out to God and her soul was set free.
