This is my entry for Sue Vincent‘s Thursday Photo Prompt.
The trail was dappled with light and peppered with snow. It seemed to go on forever, but nothing did that.
It looked just the same as all the other tracks, her heart sank, she had seen trails like this before a thousand times.
She could not give up she had to try, this time more than ever. She knew her life depended on her getting out this time.
So she ran down the track. She ran all night, her bare feet bled, her heart beat so hard it hurt. As the sun rose in the cold light of dawn she saw the city ahead.
Trying to keep up her pace she prayed that this time she would break free. No one was behind her and the path ahead clear. She ran on.
She lost consciousness the second her face hit the forcefield. She slid to the ground and just before her heart stopped a breeze from the opening in forcefield lifted her fringe. She had missed the opening by centimetres.
