If WE WERE HAVING COFFEE: Tomatoes, Newbies, Love and Stately Homes.

Flower just turning to fruit!
Flower just turning to fruit!

IF WE WERE HAVING COFFEE : I would  be  so excited  about  the tomatoes they  are beginning  to fruit  the flowers  are going over  and the  fruit  is appearing! Small now  but  full of  promise! This will be  our second  crop and  we are  expectantly  waiting  to see  if  they  will be as  good as  the first  years crop.  We had  so many  huge  and tasty  Beef  tomatoes  we  did not  at  first  know what  to do  with them.

Well on it's way
Well on it’s way

We  sliced  them like bread  and ate them in sandwiches, on toast and in salads ! We  then or rather  the husband  started  to make  pickles  and tomato sauce,  the type  of sauce  you use  with pasta.

IF WE WERE HAVING COFFEE :  I would  eventually  find  my  manners  and stop  rambling on about  the tomatoes. I would  welcome  you warmly  and  give  you a  big  hug  and say  hello  how  are  you  and  what  would  you like  to drink, we have it all here  since  Paul  has  been  joining us  on a Sunday  and bringing his friends  the demand  for new exotic  teas  and coffee  has  gone  through the roof. I love  this and I think  that Diana  who’s idea  all these  coffee  breaks  were ! So do take  a  seat , yes  that  one is  fine, yes  it very  comfy, now  this  week  I can  also offer  you iced tea  or  coffee  if  you don’t  want  a hot  drink  in all this hot weather  that  we have been experiencing. It is  most unusual  for us here  but  we are  not  complaining , no  we are really  enjoying  it.

Would  you like Lemon Drizzle  Cake    or perhaps  you would prefer some Carrot Cake . We have plenty to choose from I was  baking all day yesterday. Or  maybe  a biscuit we also  have  plenty of those. Paul  has introduced some news  to the table, that is an advantage of having people in from all over  the world.

IF WE WERE HAVING COFFEE:  I would tell you what  a wonderful day  we had yesterday, our youngest son is overseas on  business and his  beautiful  wife  and even more  beautiful  Newbie  ( if  that is possible ) came round to spend a lovely  smile and  giggle filled afternoon with us! The husband  made a great meal  and pudding  and it was enjoyed  by us all. The Newbie  of course  had his mum’s milk  so he was happy!

I was delighted  to watch  our daughter in law chat  and play with the beautiful boy. The love in their eyes was so honest and obvious it was, as I said, a delight to behold. In the week or so  since I had last seen them together there seemed to be a new and closer  bond between them. I am not saying  they were not close  before  but something was easier  and the two of  them, Mum and Newbie were a joy to behold. Well we took lots of photos  and had  lots of cuddles with granddad as well as with me. We rounded up the afternoon walking them back to her Mum’s  where she was staying for the week. Lots of  lovely  photos and  lots  lovely  memories.

IF WE WERE HAVING COFFEE: I would tell you what an amazing week it has been  weather wise in fact the last 6 weeks have  been heavenly. The simple  things like wandering around without a coat, being able to hang  your washing out knowing it will be dry when you bring it in.

The shops have had BBQ food and and equipment  fly off the shelves, sun hats  and sun glasses too not  to mention sun cream! It really  does slow life  down having sun sun sun, long relaxed evenings in the garden or out with friends. We have even sat on the patio with a glass of wine! Shock  horror!!

It  has also been a week of outings, my  friend  and I visited a local stately  house which had wonderful gardens  I did a Wordless Wednesday  post  on it . The  house itself  is a grade I listed, early Tudor manor house, dating from around 1440, so it had oodles of history!! Not to mention a lovely  cafe with  specialty coffees  and teas cakes!! We had a lovely  afternoon.

IF WE WERE HAVING COFFEE: I would tell you  that  we are expecting  a side swipe  from Tropical Storm Bertha  which has  barreled across  the Atlantic  from America. Luckily  for us  it has lost a lot of it’s vengeance. Friday evening  was very  dark  and threatening . There were flood warnings  across  most of England  and Scotland.

IF WE WERE HAVING COFFEE:  I would  tell you how very welcome  you are  and how much I look forward to our weekly get together, and that I do hope  they continue for a while  to come. So  for now  be well and be happy.  😀

If we were having coffee I’d ask  you : would you like another  cuppa, or  a biscuit . I’d  tell you I have really  come to enjoy  these chats  and I’d  love  to hear  what you would  tell me , If we were having Coffee  Original idea  from  http://parttimemonster.wordpress.com/
