Doors seen in Burgandy

The door  to  the  old  water  pumping  shed  at  the last  Gite  we  stayed in, in Burgundy. There used  to be a  chateau on the  hill opposite  the  gite  which  we  stayed  in , it is  now long gone .  Yet  the  water  pumping  station  is  still  standing  with ivy  growing  all over it.

Thursday Doors : Guedelon

Two doors where do  they lead,  do they lead into  the  castle  or  do  they  lead out  or  do  they  lead into  the  13th century?

Well these  are just two  doors  at  Guedelon Castle in Burgandy  in France.  This  castle  is  in  Treigny, France. They  have  been building  it  since  1997 and  they  are  no  where  near  finished  because  they  are using  13th century  methods.

Do read  all about  it here  Guedelon Castle. I  shall be  writing in  more  detail about  it  in a post  coming soon.

These beautiful doors were all spotted in Mende on Tuesday as we did the historical walk.

Thursday Doors. Thoughts from France

This is my entry for Norm 0.2 ‘s Thursday Doors.

So today the doors will be French because I am in France.

The first two are from yesterday in Sarlat, one is a beautiful metal studded door

and the second is the biggest door I have ever seen!! So big I didn’t manage to get it all in the photo!

The third one we saw today in Brantome, I would say one of the most lovely places we have visited this far. Set by a river with an historic Abbey and park land. Though there were plenty of tourists there it was not busy busy.

The fourth  is to either a shop or workshop, I was not sure which. It was like all the others in that street built into the rock face . I particularly liked the stain glass window above the door, also the way I caught the shadow pattern. I have to be honest I caught the shadow by accident not design. Also in Bramtome.
Another lovely day!

Thursday Doors: Rochefort en Terre

               _____________

We went to the old and beautiful town of Rochefort en  Terre. The drive was longer than we had planned but it was well worth it.

The door above was found at the old chateau above the town. It was not open to the public, only the grounds were. Sadly the whole place looked neglected from what we could glimpse through the dusty windows .As you can see the door though was very impressive as was it’s knocker.

There was a little chapel also in disrepair but full of atmosphere!

We wandered through the town and were amazed at how alive and bright and full of life it was after the sad and tired but lovely chateau. Here are some more doors from Rochefort en Terre.

Thursday Doors: In doors, Out Doors.

Well it has been a busy week and I have been struggling to keep with posts, comments and reading.

So here we are at Thursday already and I have not had time to find  any interesting doors let alone phptograph any!

So I thought I could bend the rules a little and offer you Hubby and the dog, In Doors and the dog and the beauty of Nature, Out Doors.

I hope you can enjoy the play on words and I promise to do better next week.
