Thoughts of London

Seven people have been killed and 48 injured, many of them stabbed, following a confirmed terrorist attack at two sites in London РLondon Bridge and Borough Market.

A van drove into pedestrians on the bridge and two separate eyewitnesses – one named Eric, another named Gerard – told the BBC that they saw men stabbing people in both sites, and heard them shouting: “This is for Allah”.

The three attackers have also been shot and killed – dying within eight minutes of the first call, police said. Police said that they believe there are no more attackers on the run.

London night life fun

Evil mows people down,why

Death can’t be undone.

Fear in the market

The knives were out in Borough

Blood on the pavement.

London is my town

Torrorists won’t beat us down

London my heart and soul

Do your worst we’ll keep it whole.

We won’t bow to your will

We will stand, our spirit you can’t kill.

Evil madmen will never ever win

London will carry on, no giving in.

If we were having coffee: Feeling low

Cosy Coffee

If we  were having coffee:The  weather  is  getting  distinctly  wintry, fogs, rain, frost  and  cold so  lets  all go inside  and  be  comfy by  the fire.  I  can  still entertain  you  all  with tea  and coffee  from all over  the world not to mention all our cakes  and muffins  and  as Paul  calls  them sweets! Every single  one  is  calorie  free! Plus of course  we now have spirits  and liquors  to warm the coldest of  you.

If we were having Coffee: I would  remind  you  that  there  are lots of  other  coffee mornings  all shared  and organized  By  Diana  and  Gene’O  over at,Part time monster

Do join in

If we were having  coffee: Again  I  will have  to  say  there is  no  post  from  our  beloved  Sunday guest  contributor  Paul Curran. Despite  myself , Mark Bialczak     and  Outlierbabe emailing him there has  been  no  word from him  for  at  least  a fortnight. Lets  all  send him  good vibes  and  hopeful  wishes. All Paul’s  readers  are  welcome  to  join  us !

If we were having  coffee: I offer  you  another  cuppa  and  ask  you  to help yourselves  to  cakes  and  biscuits. I  am  keeping  my  distance  this  week  as  I  have  an awful  cold  and  cough  and I  don’t  want  any  of  you  to  catch  it  so  as much  as I  want  to, no hugs  or  kisses!! I am still struggling  and  today  I  have  nasty  stomach ache.

If we  were having  coffee:I would  tell  you  that  the  kitchen is  progressing  and looking lovely here  are  some  more pictures.

If we  were having  coffee : I would  have  to  say  that  for  many  reasons  I  am  sad  and  unwell  so I  shall write  you  all  a poem so  as  not  to  say  too much.

If we were having  coffee  what would I say

I tell you  that  I wished  all my  ills  would  fly  away.

Would  that I  could  close my ears  to  all the  harsh words

That  flap around  my  head like  menacing  big black birds.

The  world  has  suddenly  become  dark and  evil

Terrorist bombs, bullets  the  whole  world in  upheaval.

In  every   part of  this  tired, old  and  sad planet

Man is ¬†killing ¬†man, evil spreading, it can’t ¬†get worse, can it?

The one’s ¬†closest ¬†to me, who I depend upon

Turn against  me  as  if I am in  the  wrong.

If we were having  coffee  what would I say

I tell you  that  I wished  all my  ills  would  fly  away.

If we were having  coffee :  I would  offer  you another  cuppa  and  some cake? Now that  is  about it  for  this  week. Again  this  week we have seen  more  terror  and  anguish.  So  beware, be safe  and please  stay here  and take  your  ease  and  chat . Thank  you  all  for coming  and I will  see  you all next week! I also hope  that  we  will hear  from Paul  this  week too.

And of course  the

over at Part Time  Monster  and Gene’O’s

Hello  and  welcome  come in it is lovely  to see you all here again. The fires are lit  the cushions are plumped up and  we have  the coffee and tea on  the go  and the cakes and sweets are all set out. Paul  and  his guests  are all here  and they are enjoying  the warmth , food and drinks. We  have  tea  and coffee  from all over  the world not to mention all our cakes  and muffins  and  as Paul  calls  them sweets! Every single  one  is  calorie  free! Plus of course  we now have spirits  and liquors  to warm the coldest of  you.

If we were having Coffee: ¬†I would ¬†tell you how ¬†excited I am to ¬†be joining ¬†Just Gene’o ¬† and Diana’s “If ¬†we were having ¬†coffee” ¬†weekend ¬†at¬†¬† ¬†and also at¬†. I am very ¬†proud ¬†to be part ¬†of ¬†his weekend ¬†as I have been doing ¬†a Sunday Coffee get together ¬†for a good ¬†while now ¬†and my ¬†good friend ¬†Paul Curran ¬†has ¬†be a very ¬†welcome ¬†guest ¬†poster having ¬†his own coffee get together ¬†alongside mine! Check Gene’O’s, If we were having ¬†coffee ¬†weekend , out ¬†at ¬†https://parttimemonster.wordpress.com/2015/01/10/if-we-were-having-coffee-the-inaugural-weekend-coffee-share/

I cannot ¬†Tweet ¬†my ¬†coffee post Gene’O because I do not ¬†Tweetin …a step to far, so far ¬†for me! ūüôā

If we were having Coffee: I would  offer you the beverage of  your choice  and of course  some of our out of this  world  cakes, pastries all calorie  free.

Then on a sober note I would  have to  say  how saddened I have been by this last weeks acts of  Terror in France. I have no  doubt  you are all as shocked  as I am. I wrote  a post on the attack on the  Charlie Hebdo  Office in Paris . I wrote  my  feeling on the subject  in  my post  Je Suis Charlie  , sadly  the  blood shed  did not end there  as  the murders  had accomplices who started up diversionary   tactics you can read about  these here   and  the end  of  the siege involving  the two remaining  men from the original massacre .    here  .

If we were having Coffee:  I would  have to say  how saddened I am by  the world, the human race  that is.  We are no better  than we were first crawling  and creeping on a virgin planet. So far  we have learned nothing. Like spoiled children we wage  war, hurt each other, some have it all some nothing   but we have not learned  to love, share  or even be kind! We have ruined our planet  and left an awful  legacy to our children  and grandchildren.

If we were having Coffee:   I would have to say  sorry I am getting  a tad heavy! Okay ..No  more  lets have some cake  and maybe  a liqueur Coffee  we can make any type  you desire!

If we were having coffee:¬† I would ¬†have to ask are ¬†you still keeping up ¬†your ¬†New Years Resolutions? Well I started back at ¬†the gym last Monday ¬†and my ¬†friend ¬†and I have ¬†signed up ¬†for extra ‘Core Lessons’ and ¬†we have paid ¬†for them so that is an incentive ! So I have been at the gym everyday ¬†this week….. eek! ¬†Also Friday my Pilates classes started ¬†and Saturday morning my usual Core Class ¬†started after a three week Christmas break! To ¬†be honest I am sitting here typing ¬†and aching all over! But I ¬†must ¬†just think of ¬†the good it ¬†will do me.

The Husband is  still not  back up to par  but  he  did have a larger operation than expected, and he did insist that we all still went away f0r Christmas  when really  he would  of done  better  to stay home  and rest. I am not  complaining I have really  enjoyed  looking after him. It  is a way  of  showing  him  how  much I appreciate everything  he did for me  when I came out of hospital  and had  to learn  to walk again.

If we were having coffee:¬†I would ¬†tell you all to make ¬†yourselves ¬†at home ¬†go and chat to Paul’s ¬†guest ¬†and to Gene’O’s and Diana’s friends too. I look forward ¬†to chatting ¬†with ¬†you all!

This Month January  is  Just Jot  It  January   run  by  LindaGHill  Well I am always up  for  challenge and I have done JusJoJan  before  and survived  so I am doing it again this  month/year. It  means I  must  jot out  a post  every day  of this month!……………….. eek! It is  a twofold blessing  not only  do  have to use  my grey matter I  get  to meet  lots of  new bloggers! I  hope  some of  them will come and join us  at our Sunday morning  get together’s.

IF WE WERE HAVING COFFEE:  I would say  lets  go and see what Paul’s  guest are up to lets  all mix  and have fun.  I would ask you if you would  like
another  cuppa, or  another cake . !   If we were having Coffee  Original idea  from  http://parttimemonster.wordpress.com/

If We Were Having Coffee: Guest Post‚Äď Nov.02/2014

Terrorism and Hopelessness

Paul your Barista

Paul your Barista

Welcome to Willow‚Äôs weekly coffee and tea garden. My name is Paul and I‚Äôm happy¬†to be here once again inside Willow‚Äôs home where it is nice and toasty, tending to your¬†needs for a cuppa, and sweets. We‚Äôve moved inside to beat the winter cold in the garden.¬†I‚Äôd be pleased to bring a pot of whatever beverage you prefer ‚Äď we have a wide range¬†of teas and coffees to satisfy our world-wide readership. We can relax with a cuppa and¬†calorie free electronic sweets while we discuss the affairs of the week both personal and/or worldwide. How has your week been?

Here in Canada the debate has started over whether the ‚Äúterrorist‚ÄĚ killing in Ottawa¬†was in fact the doings of a sick young man or a terrorist. Our government continues to¬†categorize it as a terrorist action while a great many more thoughtful sources have started¬†a dialogue on our mental health care system. In the name of terrorism, our government¬†has begun making laws that increase police powers and allow evidence to be held in¬†secret. Idiots. The last time they tried that, our Supreme Court struck down the laws as¬†unconstitutional. Besides which, how can anyone realistically make a law forever without¬†even taking the time to understand what occurred? This jumping to action without¬†knowledge or understanding is so typically political it is tantamount to voter pandering.¬†Idiots again. A waste of time and energy that could be better spent understanding thesituation. Sigh.

That was my rant for the post ladies and gentlemen ‚Äď Thank You for your patience. How¬†does your government handle terrorist occurrences? (After the fact.) Do you think they¬†could perhaps do it better?¬†Would you like another cuppa? A sweet? It‚Äôs nice to be here in the warmth of Willow‚Äôs¬†while looking out at the cold and rain, isn‚Äôt it?

Personally I‚Äôve had some ups and downs this week. On the bright side, a new medication¬†has decreased joint pain and allowed me to walk easier, safer and further. On the down¬†side I have developed a condition called ‚Äúrestless legs‚ÄĚ in dialysis which actually got so¬†bad Friday night that I had to terminate treatment early and was left feeling like a wrung¬†out dish rag. I have a consultation on Monday, so hopefully the doctors will be able to¬†suggest a treatment for this problem. It actually didn‚Äôt occur to me until right now that¬†the two may be connected ‚Äď Hmmm ‚Äď I‚Äôll have to check that out. How‚Äôs your health this ¬†week ‚Äď better, worse, no change? Truly good health is a gift that goes uncelebrated until¬†it‚Äôs gone. Do you agree with that?

I was sitting outside the hospital on Friday waiting for the second half of a test that¬†required before/after radiological imaging when an older looking gentleman sat down¬†nearby and started a conversation. He was dressed in hospital gowns and flip-flops and¬†seemed like a very cheerful person. There is a psych ward on the fourth floor and it is¬†common that the patients walk around outside, providing they are stable and safe and¬†likely to return to the ward. For this reason conversations sometimes will take surreal¬†directions ‚Äď it is best to be wary. Anyway, he indicated that he was self-admitted for¬†suicide watch. His story was that he was at home trying to suffocate himself with a¬†plastic bag and found it uncomfortable ‚Äď the plastic entering his nose and mouth. As a¬†result, he decided to try and invent a more comfortable way to do this and was designing¬†a cardboard insert that prevented the plastic from bothering him while he was suffocating.¬†He was part way through the development of the new technology when he realized just¬†how insane that really was and called the emergency number (911 here) for help. Having¬†told his story he wished me a good day and departed back into the hospital.

During his story the gentleman had mentioned that he had finally received his first pension cheque while in hospital. He was 61 and had recently retired. He had a lot of bills and no money. He indicated how nice it was to have money in his bank account for a change. It was impossible to ignore the correlation between his lack of money and the attempted suicide in his story. He seemed in decent physical health and was cheerful and well spoken. And he had lost his will to live. Any thoughts? Have you ever met someone like this? It was the first time I had had such a conversation and it was thought-provoking for me.

Would you like another cuppa? I think I’ll have a sweet as well. Willow and I are honored that you dropped by today to visit. I hope you’ve enjoyed yourself and the conversation and please feel free to look around at Willow’s other posts while you’re here. Have a great week. We look forward to seeing you here in the garden again next week.
