Fields of gold stretch for miles to the horizon as far as the eye can see.
Sunflowers turn their faces to the sky yellow and green reaching for blue.
Gaia is at her best her skirts swirling around.

Our host Ron has suggested we try a new disapline this week, as the Décima Challenge has come to an end after 100 weeks. The Sijo, a Korean form believed to have first been used in the fourteenth century. It is similar in structure to various Japanese forms such as Haiku. As with many forms of poetry, the Sijo became a preferred poetry form of the yangban or ruling class as well as royalty. They were written in Chinese and were originally short songs set to music. The focus of the Sijo is usually nature and contemplation. We’ll try that to begin with.
There are:
Three Lines
14-16 syllables per line
A total of 44-46 syllables for the entire poem.
To know how many syllables in a particular word try HowManySyllables.com. Here is my first attempt summer.
Summer
Summer spreads her green and floral skirt, her bare feet covered in dew.
Tripping lightly through the meadows spreading her hues as she goes.
Each day, her hair wreathed in blue she brings beauty to all of us.

Autumn in the air.
There are blackberries in the hedgerow
And a chill is in the morning air
The red berries are starting to show
Seems Summer’s left without a care.
Conkers in their protective green spiky coats.
Laying expectantly on the ground
The days are getting shorter
And leaves are falling all around
Autumn is a coming I feel it on the air
Summer’s preparing to fold up her deck chair.
This is part of Sue Vincent’s Thursday Photo Prompt.
Summer.
Days when we were young
Stretching out forever full of fun.
Days of freedom days of sun
Days before life became undone.
Summer fields green and white
Blue skies with feathered clouds
Sounds of voices, happy, loud
Summer days before we grew
To see summer with eyes no longer new.💜

At Kat Myrman‘s suggestion, along with Jane Dougherty, I’m trying out the Lune form this month. The Lune is a three line poem, either 5/3/5 syllables or 3/5/3 words.
Let us Lune for June
Summer will
Be here very soon.
The sky is clear blue
Summer fun down to the beach
Arrival brings rain.
Summer sun shines high
Sandwiches on the front lawn
Fun under blue sky
Long evenings of fun
Followed by mid summer nights
Moon reflects the sun.

The very talented Helen at This Thing called Life One Word at a Time told us that : The theme for Song Lyric Sunday on June 19th is “Summer“. Pick a song that makes you think of summer, that has the word in the title or lyrics, or pick one of your own that has nothing to do with the theme. We’re all open to sharing and listening to new, amazing music. Most of all, just enjoy the process.
So which song is most evocative of summer in my mind ? Well there are many in fact too numerous to mention. So I closed my eyes and let my mind slip off to wherever as I thought of summer. The first song that entered my head was Summer Breeze , and it was not the Isley Brother’s version but the beautiful Seals and Croft version I was hearing. The song takes me back to 1972 the year after I got married. Happy carefree days.
So here we are please enjoy!

SUMMER BREEZE
See the curtains hangin’ in the window
In the evenin’ on a Friday night
Little light is shinin’ through the window
Lets me know everything’s alright
Summer breeze, makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze, makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
See the paper layin’ on the sidewalk
A little music from the house next door
So I walked on up to the doorstep
Through the screen and across the floor
Summer breeze, makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze, makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Sweet days of summer, the jasmine’s in bloom
July is dressed up and playing her tune
And I come home from a hard day’s work
And you’re waiting there, not a care in the world
See the smile awaitin’ in the kitchen
Food cookin’ in the plates for two
Feel the arms that reach out to hold me
In the evening when the day is through
Summer breeze, makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze, makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind

The golden shafts of light cascade through the branches and leaves of the tress opposite
The shadows creeping silently across the lawn usher out the day in preparation for the night.
It is still warm, OH! that’s such a treat .To sit here in the garden wrapped in the evening’s glory
Celebrating a glorious day , a once in a life time, stunningly sunny perfect story.
I was sure I could see fairies dancing, tiny wee beauties leaping and prancing.
Okay it was, maybe a trick of the light , as it flowed through the garden setting me off romancing!
Sipping a glass of ruby red , drinking in the scene sipping at the wine
It was all so glorious, a precious moment it could be nothing less than divine!
Finally the in the last rays glow , the silent birds now knew it was time for day to go
Leaving us here all hushed and quiet , basking in pure delight as we lay below.
Colours now all monochrome, gone the golds and greens of day slipped away into black and grey.
Sipping gently on this succulent wine, regarding nights approach, pushing away all remnants of the day.
A collective sigh at nature’s glory, we raise our glasses to her story.
The flowers bend and go to sleep, the ivy silently and relentlessly creeps
Children from their bedroom windows peep.It has been a wonderful day, hey kids are you still not asleep
