Colleen, our mentor, said:This week’s challenge is to write a specific form with a twist!
Write an acrostic poem with a syllable count of 8, 9, or 10 syllables per line (all the same, or a mixture of syllable counts, is fine).
Today I am thinking of Space and my wish to be there. So my acrostic poem is SPACE. The syllablic count are as the lines run , eight, nine, ten, eight, ten in five lines.
Spanning infinitesimal Phenomenal beauty far beyond All imagination bathed in silence Cosmic holes filled with stars and dust Eternal drifting, never ending space
Welcome to Truthful Tuesday, a prompt originally set by PCGuyIV, covered by Melanie and now hosted by Di at Pensitivity101 until PCGuy1V wants to take it back.
This week’s question is: Would you like to go up in to space?
Hell yes! I wish!
I want to fly a star fighter I want Starbuck’s uniform.
I wanted to fight the Cylons watch their ships in flames over Orion at dawn.
I wanted to fly beyond the speed of light, and curse swear and fight.
I wanted to play cards and drink into the night. I wanted to straith the Cylon’s rebirthing ship with diagonal fire.
To wipe them out is my heart’s desire.
I wanted to argue with my superiors and blow smoke in their faces.
I can do their jobs and be in two places.
I need to lead a fleet of earnest pilots who would follow me to their death.
They would be my responsibility and I would protect them with my final breath.
I would never let them know that, though, I’d need to be aloof and mean,
Yes even if I loved them so, I’d not let that be seen.
I’d be so cool
I would love to look sexy in my vest and flight suit minus my top.
I would love to excited the lads and bop bop bop!
I’d be happy teaching flight techniques and how fire missiles and cannon and just how to stop a Centurion with a strategic oil leak!
I would make your hair stand on end and your face truly blush
With the expletives designed to crush.
I would love to be the one who held the whole planet’s lives with in my hands,
Even if at first I had no idea that I was part of the gods secret plans.
I would take it on the chin to come back from the dead to everyone’s delight.
To start again immediately just jurn me round I’d fight.
It’s true I like a drink, gambling and like a good cigar.
I’m damn good in bed I’ll sort you out what ever rank you are!
I am the best pilot as I have said before
I shall find the Cylon’s mothership and give the frackers what for!
I’ll rip the skin off Number Six and I’ll show her no quarter.
She beat the living crap out of me and then denied me even water.
I’ll lead you all to safety find you all another world
For I am really an angel that keeps her wings tight furled!
I am that star you see at night when it is darkest before the dawn.
I am the one who will shoot straightest so none of you need be forlorn.
I am the mighty Starbuck , Kara Thrace is my real name .
But what ever you call me I shall save you all the fracking same!
Last week we left Morgarna, Merlin and Gail jumping away from sorting out a history medling, serial killer from the other side of the universe. They jump just in time for Christmas.
After they had drunk in the view they walked along the beach to a fish and chip bar that Merlin knew and they sat outside and ate their super as they watched the sun set. “That was the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. I am so full!” Sighed Gail rubbing her tummy and finishing her vodka and orange. Morgarna sat back and lit a cigarette and watched the moon come up. “It’s getting chilly ladies let’s go and find our Christmas home. Come on follow me!” Merlin got up and was heading up the slipway towards the village.
Alley.
They followed Merlin up the streets and then they turned down an alley which was cold damp and mossy …. The place was lined with terraced cottages with mostly green doors… One cottage even had a satellite dish on it. They went straight past that one and up to the one at the top of the alley. Merlin handed Gail the key to the door and asked her to lead the way. Opening the door she was delighted with the scene that greeted them. It was warm and cosy, there was a huge tree decked with lights and faires! A huge roaring fire with Christmas Stockings hanging from the mantle, five marked with initials. There was a table all set for Christmas dinner and in the kitchen was Gail’s Mum and Dad preparing vegetables, the sweet smell of mince pies filling the whole house. “Gail, Honey, you made it, we were so hoping you would.” Gail looked at the place and her parents, the sound of the rest of the family upstairs . “Who are your friends, come on honey come on in you’re letting the cold in!” Gail’s dad put down the brussel sprouts he was peeling and he came across the room his arms extended , Gail’s Mum hot on his heels beaming from ear to ear! Gail finally grasped the fact that this was as real as it could be in this mad new world she now moved in and thought to herself….”hell yes I’ll go with this” as she jumped into her dad’s arms.
“Which Christmas is this?” whispered Morgarna looking Merlin in the eye. “The one before she killed herself, she always said she wished she’d gone home that Christmas, things might of been very different if she had….. “ Morgarna looked from Merlin to Gail and her parents then said….”but we can’t change history can we Hun?” Merlin looked at her and replied, ” no we can’t but this way she gets her wish.” Morgarna smiled as Gail took her and Merlin by the arm. “Mum, Dad these are my dear friends Merlin and Morgarna “ “Well Gail’s Mum beamed welcome both of you you are most welcome I hope you are all staying there’s plenty of food for tomorrow. “ Morgarna smiled and said they’d love to stay. “Right who’s for a drink , Morgarna, Merlin what can I get you? Are you still drinking vodka and orange Gail?” Asked her mum. They all sat down in the living room with their drinks and they all had a cigarette, in fact Gail’s Mum got out her special Christmas stock of Sobrainie cocktail cigarettes. Merlin did his best not to look too grumpy as they all smoked…. His Whiskey and ginger helped soften his mood, while Morgarna knocked back the Bacardi and coke, they all relaxed and chatted , then the Christmas episode of Dr Who came on the TV and Gail’s two brothers came charging down the stairs to watch and eat the nuts a d chocolate! Everyone, yes even Merlin looked happy.
Two days later after much fun, games and eating and drinking too much Merlin said “Well it’s been really great but we must be on our way.” Gail was going to complain but obviously had second thoughts and stopped, realising she had been given the most beautiful gift by her friends. The Christmas she never had and really wished she had! “Yes she smiled… Mum, Dad it’s been wonderful but we must be off!” So after much hugging and kissing they left the cottage. As they walked up the alley a cold wind swept past them …it left Morgarna and Merlin untouched but Gail felt a soft warm presence …love. The cottage stood cold dank and empty suffering from years of neglect, empty like most of the cottages in the alley, only three were still inhabited the rest were just empty shells full of memories.
As they reached the top of the alley Morgarna took hold of Gail and whispered “that was lovely wasn’t it love? come on I’ll race you back to the beach.” As they reached the beach the Anomaly arrived “Okay they all shouted grabbing hands they jumped?”
As they landed they found themselves, not in the lab but on the approach to a large, almost-symetrical, castle with cylindrical towers dominating the landscape. “Wooo! Squealed Gail, it’s a fairy castle! “ “I doubt that Hun” said Morgarna lighting a cigarette and taking a drag! No said Merlin ….”I suppose we just better take a closer look.” The all walked arm in arm toward the entrance.
David Bowie aced this subject with Starman, All the young dudes, and Space Oddity and Ashes to Ashes so I went in a completely different direction.
“I’m the Urban Spaceman” was the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band‘s most successful single, released in 1968. It reached #5 in the UK charts. The song was written by Neil Innes—who won an Ivor Novello Award in 1968 for the song—and produced by Paul McCartney and Gus Dudgeon under the pseudonym “Apollo C. Vermouth”. The B-side was written by Vivian Stanshall. A well-known staging of the song involves Innes performing solo while a female tap dancer performs an enthusiastic but apparently under-rehearsed routine around him. This skit originally appeared in a 1975 edition of Rutland Weekend Television, with Lyn Ashley as the dancer, and was more famously revived in the 1982 film Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl with Carol Cleveland taking over the role. *******
I’m the urban spaceman, baby; I?ve got speed I’ve got everything I need I’m the urban spaceman, baby; I can fly I’m a supersonic guy
I don’t need pleasure I don’t feel pain If you were to knock me down I’d just get up again I’m the urban spaceman, baby; I’m makin’ out I’m all about
I wake up every morning with a smile upon my face My natural exuberance spills out all over the place
I’m the urban spaceman, I’m intelligent and clean Know what I mean? I’m the urban spaceman, as a lover second to none It’s a lot of fun
I never let my friends down I’ve never made a boob I’m a glossy magazine, an advert in the tube
I’m the urban spaceman, baby; here comes the twist– I don’t exist
The second choice is from Bjork a beautiful piece I hope you like it as much as I do.
Desired Consolation is from Bjork’s album Medúlla the fifth studio album by Icelandic recording artist Björk. It was released on 30 August 2004 in the United Kingdom by One Little Indian Records and in the United States by Elektra Entertainment. After the release of her electronic–influenced previous album Vespertine (2001), Björk intended to make an album almost entirely a cappella constructed with human vocals. For the project, she collaborated with vocal artists such as Mike Patton of rock band Faith No More, beatboxers Rahzel and Dokaka, as well as Inuit throat singerTanya Tagaq. The album’s title derives from the Latin word for “marrow”
.
It’s tricky when you feel someone Has done some sin on your behalf It’s slippery when your sense of justice Murmurs underneath and is asking you
How am I going to make it right How am I going to make it right
With a palm full of stars I throw them like dice (repeatedly) On the table (repeat, repeatedly) I shake them like dice And throw them on the table repeatedly (repeatedly) Until the desired constellation appears
How am I going to make it right How am I going to make it right How am I going to make it right (And did you hear how am I going to make it right)
How am I going to make it right How am I going to make it right (How am I going to make it right)
Incase you meant the other Space here is my favourite Beautiful South Need A Little Time . This song really portrays marriage!
“A Little Time” is a song by English pop rock group the Beautiful South, the first single to be released from their second album, Choke. It consists of a duet featuring vocalists Dave Hemingway and Briana Corrigan. I need a little time to think it over I need a little space just on my own I need a little time to find my freedom I need a little
Funny how quick the milk turns sour, isn’t it, isn’t it? Your face has been looking like that for hours, hasn’t it, hasn’t it? Promises, promises turn to dust Wedding bells just turn to rust
Trust into mistrust
I need a little room to find myself I need a little space to work it out I need a little room all alone I need a little
You need a little room for your big head, don’t you, don’t you? You need a little space for a thousand beds, won’t you, won’t you? Lips that promise, fear the worst Tongue so sharp, the bubble burst
Just into unjust
I’ve had a little time to find the truth Now I’ve had a little room to check what’s wrong I’ve had a little time, and I still love you I’ve had a little
You had a little time and you had a little fun, didn’t ya, didn’t you? While you had yours, do you think I had none, do you, do ya? The freedom that you wanted bad Is yours for good, I hope you’re glad
Sad into unsad
I had a little time to think it over Had a little room to work it out I found a little courage to call it off I’ve had a little time
I’ve had a little time I’ve had a little time I’ve had a little time

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind Possessing and caressing me
Jai guru deva, om Nothing’s gonna change my world Nothing’s gonna change my world Nothing’s gonna change my world Nothing’s gonna change my world
Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes They call me on and on across the universe Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letterbox they They tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe
Jai guru deva, om Nothing’s gonna change my world Nothing’s gonna change my world Nothing’s gonna change my world Nothing’s gonna change my world
Sounds of laughter shades of life are ringing Through my open ears inciting and inviting me Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns It calls me on and on across the universe
Jai guru deva, om Nothing’s gonna change my world Nothing’s gonna change my world Nothing’s gonna change my world Nothing’s gonna change my world

Today is Thursday and if Sue Vincent was not fighting her own battle she would of set us her weekly #writephoto. So here is one I wrote back in August 2016.
The priory on the Rim of Io
The priory on the Rim of was the last of it’s kind almost forgotten by the rest of creation. …but not quite!
Stay away from the windows she had been told by grandfather and by Mother Superior both. They had impressed upon her the importance of her presence there was to be a secret. The Nuns were all delightful and so kind but they, being a silent order could only speak to her between the hours of six and eight pm. So even though they did their best to entertain their guest she was lonely.
She spent her days , happily in the priory and it’s gardens, the smell of the strange flowers native to Io calming and soothing her. At night she was enthralled by the other three Galilean moons that orbit Jupiter.
Keep away from the windows at night they all told her, you must not be seen. Your condition will give you away.
She did try but the spectacular light that was generated by Io and the other three moons of Jupiter was enthralling.
Stay away from the windows they had begged her but the lights already had a hold on her.
And so it was that she , the last pregnant woman in the Universe, the last pregnant woman in thirty years stood at the window watching the lights washing over Io.
Sadly the bounty hunters from Mars saw her at the window, they saw her long hair and pregnant belly, too young, too beautiful to be an ancient Nun.
What future the Universe the only pregnant woman in thirty years held to ransom. All because she could not resist looking out the window.

The lovely and clever Linda G Hill at Life in Progress said :Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “second.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun.
The second I pushed that button I realized that I had started something I had to finish and I really believed that I could . The screen went dead and this time it stayed that way.
John motioned to me for the second time that day but this time he was beckoning me to follow him. I removed the glasses and followed him. I asked him where the children, who had brought me here, had gone? He just smiled and told me not to worry they were safe.
We walked back into the hanger and went up the second staircase to the second floor and entered the second office. There were computers, books and maps all over the place. At the end of the room sat woman her face hidden by a computer monitor ! “Okay ” smile John , “Traya meet Traya ” he turned on his heel and was gone out the door . Leaving me me with the woman . She moved away from the screen and for the second time today I came face to face with myself.
“Hi” smiled my older self smiled, “Shall we get to work , are you ready Traya” I nodded and I honestly felt safe in my older self’s presence . “Right we need to get to work then, do you trust me”she asked. Yes I did trust her with my life but I wanted some answers and given the rate that things were moving at I wanted them immediately! “Traya can you please push the button for me , that one on the wall” The older Traya asked me. I took a deep and said ” Just a second, I want some answers first!
The force field lifted or opened either way my I could go forward safely. The children slipped in behind me.
Every one stopped and looked at me expectantly, there was a long silence .I did not know what to do so I waited. Finally after a few minutes, that felt like eons a young man approached me.
He had been at the back of the hanger and apparently started to walk up to meet me as I had entered. The hanger was so long it had take him all that time to get to me.
The next thing I know he is hugging me and welcoming me like an old friend. Then the whole hanger broke into a loud Hoorah! I was at a lost and not a little embarrassed by the whole situation.
“At last”he said “You are here we have been wait for you for a very long time.”I had no idea who they thought I was, hell I was not even sure who I was either.
This young man told me his name was John Long and he was commander of this transport Space Battle Station. Omg I thought they are rambling on about things of which I have no comprehension. I asked John who he thought I was he said he did not think and that he knew exactly who I was . Taking my hand he lead me to an anti room come office and indicated that I should sit at his desk.
John looked me straight in the eyes and said.” After the war started two hundred years ago “…..”Hang on” I said ” what war ?”. John silenced me with a wave of his hand and told me to listen, as we did not have much time and and the video message I was about to watch was rather long but it would explain everything . “Put this on ” he said handing me what looked like a pair of sunglasses!
I looked at him he smiled and touched my hand , “Go on” he said”Put them on and push the button! “
