Song Lyric Sunday. Christmas/ Holidays/ Snowmen.

It’s Sunday again, time for Song Lyric Sunday this week Jim Adams has said our prompt is “Christmas/Holiday/Snowman”

Before we go any further I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy 2020

Now there are so many songs that spring to mind. I love Christmas songs. Now my favourite Christmas song is all about the strain this time of year . It by my favourite singer… altogether now Imogen Heap. And it is called Just For Now. The song is about constant mayhem within a holiday environment, in which the singer sings to set aside the disarray for a short time of peace. It is from her second studio album, Speak for Yourself (2005). Written and produced by Heap, the song was originally written for the second-season episode of the television series The O.C. entitled “The Chrismukkah That Almost Wasn’t”, but was deemed too dark for the episode.  No way it just tells the truth.

In essence family stress! I love it. In fact I live it!

Then there is River by Joni Mitchell another lovely Christmas song.

River” is a Christmas folk song by Joni Mitchell, from her 1971 album Blue. Although never released as a single, it has become one of Mitchell’s most recorded songs.

“River”

It’s coming on Christmas
They’re cutting down trees
They’re putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on

But it don’t snow here
It stays pretty green
I’m going to make a lot of money
Then I’m going to quit this crazy scene
Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on

I wish I had a river so long
I would teach my feet to fly
I wish I had a river I could skate away on
I made my baby cry

He tried hard to help me
You know, he put me at ease
And he loved me so naughty
Made me weak in the knees
Oh, I wish I had a river I could skate away on

I’m so hard to handle
I’m selfish and I’m sad
Now I’ve gone and lost the best baby
That I ever had
I wish I had a river I could skate away on

Oh, I wish I had a river so long
I would teach my feet to fly
I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I made my baby say goodbye

It’s coming on Christmas
They’re cutting down trees
They’re putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on
