Stream of Consciousness Saturday : Enthusiastic Snow

Prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “enthuse.”  Add a prefix or suffix to it or leave it as it is and go to town with it! Enjoy!  Here is  the Ping back!

Late  snow day

first snow

There  they  were  all dressed  and  ready  for  school

The  weather man  had  forcast  snow  ….the  weather  was cruel

Having  other  ideas! Mum  had a bright  enthusiastic  smile

Come  on she  gushed, you will enjoy it, she  promised, touching  wood  all the  while.

Lunch boxes in hand  she  ushered them off to the  bus stop

To  enthuse  them with her mood  she  cried  lets  bop!

They  started  down  the hill  draggin their  feet

Suddenly  the  snowfakes  began to fall. Here  is  the  snow….sweet!

By  the time  they  reached  the back door  they  were singing

Mum had seen the snow  and her  work  she was  ringing.

Through  the door  they burst  full of  enthusiasm

They bubbled  and  squirmed  around  a not  so  enthusiastic  Mum!

Here are the rules:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing, (typos can be fixed) and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. There will be a prompt every week. Linda will post the prompt  on her blog on Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a subject. For instance,  Linda  will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” or “Begin with the word ‘The’.”

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that Linda  and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of Linda’s post into yours.  Your link will show up in Linda’s comments, for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read everyone’s! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later, or go to the previous week, by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find right below the “Like” button on Linda’s post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. Have fun!

Here comes the Snow

http://vanessajackman.blogspot.co.uk/

The snow is on the way, I heard someone on the radio say, it might be here today but it is certainly on its way. The temperature is going to drop we will all hear the thermometers go plop! Because the snow is on the way and the temperatures will drop!

The cat will not go out she’ll sit at the window and pout, the dog will not be put off he will leap about no doubt!He will get covered with snow he loves all that you know! But the cat will sit at the window and pout she will not go out in the snow.The squirrel will go mad looking for all the nuts that he had, he will not take a brake until he finds them all. The Magpies and the other birds will watch him from the wall, they will not help at all they just will just watch him from the wall  .

                                                                                                                        We will never now from whence came the snow, the children love it so, playing in the snow. The cars will all go slow, crawling through the snow. People laying low to avoid going out in the snow.Ringing into work the daily grind to shirk.

So bound by the snow the trains will all go slow that’s if they even go because they are bound by the snow , stop and go. The buses will not run waiting at the bus stop but they’ll not come. No they do not run like they do in the sun. No they all go slow when they have to run in the snow.

Well now it is quiet, the moon and snow make special light.All sparkly in the night now everyone’s at home and they have finished the snow ball fight. The twinkly twinkly light the sky is clear all the star have taken flight

Let’s get this right on this starry starry night when all the stars have taken flight. The cat and the dog know what is right. They just know  how to behave in the snow . The squirrel is all curled up safely now because he knows it best to keep warm in the snow to stay in not out to go..

Snow Haiku

Amid the winter's snow

Three Haiku on the present snow.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Black sky spangled sparky bright,ice cold.
She glides over the lake
Silver iron leaving in her silent wake.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Snowflakes falling on the lake

Tiny silver crystals formed like stellar plates

It’s a wander of nature clean and pure

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Silently falls the snow coating Rome white
Deadening  city sound at night
Not been seen for twenty five years.
Christmas Dream
Here is an older post of mine relevant for this time of the year.
###########################################################
It is dark and very cold, I snuggle deep into my blanket fold.
There is no noise, nor light to see my beloved teddy next to me.
A silver light shows through a curtain chink, reminding me that the stars still wink. The Moon still lights the way that leads us into the brilliance of the day.Quiet, quietly slipping out of bed, I find my slippers and dressing gown red. Heading blindly to the door, being lucky not to trip on some discarded toy.
Creeping, creeping, fingers crossed, that no one wakes. Listening at each step I take slipping though the door, along the landing where the floor boards creak .watching snow To reach the window big and round, with cushioned seat. Don’t make a sound! Deep breath now my goal is near, don’t rush don’t slip don’t make a sound, my biggest fear is I’ll be found. So near so far please don’t let anyone wake. For back to bed they will me take. I need to reach that cushioned seat, then in silence I can greet the view I pray for in my childhood mind …..Those gentle wishes left behind. Finally alone in the silver light of the window, curtains drawn back as if a stage. Yes my wishes have come true the snow has visited and lies out there clean and new. It adds a hush to the night and answering the moon it looks so bright.The street looks clean and new, the gardens all roll into one with white topped trees alive with magic blossom.
Santa on the lawn
Time passes as I watch the scene; the cat next door is really vexed she cannot walk on this deep white stuff. Jumping and twitching her fur all a fluff she shoots through her cat flap. She has had enough. My, I hear a tinkling sound, not sure if it comes from sky or ground. A silver light begins to play where our front garden used to lay. Is it real or is it a trick. Am I asleep or am I awake? I’m not sure I can’t say but what I see now I shall never deny.
A brightly coloured sledge with sacks of presents packed behind a driver all dressed in red with white trim. I shake my head and press my nose against the window that is so cold it makes me shiver. A tiny sigh I deliver. It must be, can it be, yes it must be him. He raises a hand in greeting, his fingers on his lips to silence me. I wave back: my face a grin from ear to ear. As I look a shower of stardust and coloured lights remove the beautiful apparition from my sight . Gently, gently falls the silent snow, no tracks, no stardust left to show what I had seen on this night.I knew at once that if I told, no one would listen, and if I repeated I would be chided as bold. Then as I watched I saw on the white lawn, a lovely smiley face had been drawn.smilie
I awoke in my mothers arms, started to tell her but she whispered “be calm.”gently she tucked me up in bed, slid teddy onto the pillow next to my head. Then bending she whispered in my ear. “Sweet dreams my love and wake anew. For tonight a special child was born for you”.
