COLLEEN’S 2020 WEEKLY #TANKA TUESDAY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 191 #PHOTOPROMPT

WELCOME TO TANKA TUESDAY!

It’s the third week of the month! Time for a #PhotoPrompt

Aishwarya, aka, Kitty from Kitty’s Verses, was Colleen’s selection from last month’s challenge. So Kitty has provided the photo for this month’s challenge. Colleen says “Remember, don’t just describe what is in the photo. Engage your senses and work with implied metaphors to make your poetry sing!”

This week I have written a two versed Shadorma about life choices. The railway track disapearing into the distance makes me think of the straight and narrow.

Look forward
Leave what’s behind you
The line leads
Direction
As sure as night follows day
One step at a time.

Like a train
Forward momentum
Rolling on
Growing strong
Straight ahead into the light
One step at a time .

This is part of Colleen’s Tuesday Tanka

Watched by God

Keeping us safe in his hands

He bestows

All good things

Fighting the darkness in spells

Showered with goodness

Watching me

Slowly draining life

Eating up

My soul whole

Evil stalks my nights and days

I can not escape.

Colleen’s 2019 Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 144 #SynonymsOnly

This week Colleen has given us the prompt words Enchant and Fly. I have chosen to write a Shadorma for Colleen’s Tuesday Tanka Challenge.

The title is Bewitched

You’re bewitched

Within her magic

Held under

Her love spell

Her charm makes your spirit soar

Born on wings of joy.

August Stanza 21

It is August and so Jane is doing : a chain of images each one suggested by the last word in the preceding poem. They’ll be short, a single image of just a few lines. It will be interesting to see where it ends up by the end of the month.

Kat will be doing short 3,4, or 5 line poems no syllable counts of rhymes, starting with the word ‘August’ on the first day. The last word of the poem will be the first word of day two’s poem, and so on until the end of the month.

Finally I shall be doing all types of poetry but each poem will start with the last word in the preceding poem.

Today’s poem is a Shadorma

Deserted.

Deserted

Just empty spaces

Nothing there

Not a soul

I am totally alone

Devoid of all life
