Song Lyric Sunday. Relationships.

Jim Adams

Hi again it Song Lyric Sunday and Jim Adams our host has given us the prompt for November 22, 2020 – Fiancé/Husband/Lover/Wife.

I have picked Brandi Carlisle’s song The Story because I love the lyrics.

Brandi Marie Carlile (born June 1, 1981) is an American multiple Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter and producer whose music spans multiple genres. As of 2020, Carlile has released six studio albums and earned eleven Grammy Award nominations, including one for The Firewatcher’s Daughter, six for By the Way, I Forgive You, and three for her work as producer and songwriter on Tanya Tucker’s 2019 album While I’m Livin’. She was the most nominated woman at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards (six) including nominations for Album of the Year (By the Way, I Forgive You), Record of the Year and Song of the Year (“The Joke“).  In 2019, Carlile formed an all-female quartet with Amanda ShiresMaren Morris, and Natalie Hemby called The Highwomen. They released their debut album The Highwomen in 2019 to critical and commercial acclaim.

Born in Ravensdale, Washington, a rural town southeast of Seattle, Carlile dropped out of high school to pursue a career in music, teaching herself piano and guitar. Her debut major label album, Brandi Carlile, was released to critical acclaim yet achieved limited commercial success. Carlile garnered wider recognition with her 2007 single “The Story”, from her album of the same nameThe Story was awarded gold status in 2017, having sold more than 500,000 copies to date. The Firewatcher’s Daughter earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Americana Album and peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard 200. Information from here.

“The Story”

All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I’ve been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don’t mean anything
When you’ve got no one to tell them to
It’s true, I was made for you

I climbed across the mountain tops
Swam all across the ocean blue
I crossed all the lines and I broke all the rules
But baby, I broke them all for you
Oh, because even when I was flat broke
You made me feel like a million bucks
You do, and I was made for you

You see the smile that’s on my mouth
It’s hiding the words that don’t come out
And all of my friends who think that I’m blessed
They don’t know my head is a mess
No, they don’t know who I really am
And they don’t know what I’ve been through like you do
And I was made for you

All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I’ve been
And how I got to where I am
Oh, but these stories don’t mean anything
When you’ve got no one to tell them to
It’s true, I was made for you

Oh, yeah, well it’s true that I was made for you

Lyrics from AtoZ Lyrics.

That covers the prompt I think 💜 Happy Sunday Everyone.

Song lyrics Sunday

Song Lyric Sunday: Running up the Hill (A Deal with God)

This is  part  of Song  Lyric  Sunday

I have  loved  Kate Bush  for ever  and have always felt  a connection  with her  lyrics  and music.

Running up  the  Hill , resonates  with  my  life  the  awful feeling of  running  through  quick  sand  just  to  get  through  the day. She  explains it perfectly the hopelessness we all feel at  different  points in our life. Apparently  I  have misinterpreted the song  this  is  what Kate  Bush  said  about  the  song .

I was trying to say that, really, a man and a woman, can’t understand each other because we are a man and a woman. And if we could actually swap each other’s roles, if we could actually be in each other’s place for a while, I think we’d both be very surprised! [Laughs] And I think it would lead to a greater understanding. And really the only way I could think it could be done was either… you know, I thought a deal with the devil, you know. And I thought, ‘well, no, why not a deal with God!’ You know, because in a way it’s so much more powerful the whole idea of asking God to make a deal with you. You see, for me it is still called “Deal With God”, that was its title. But we were told that if we kept this title that it would not be played in any of the religious countries, Italy wouldn’t play it, France wouldn’t play it, and Australia wouldn’t play it! Ireland wouldn’t play it, and that generally we might get it blacked purely because it had God in the title.

Personally I  still think it  describes life’s struggles. What  do  you think?

Below  is  the  very  best of  the  many  covers of  this  beautiful  song, it is by Placebo. The  Video is  really  special!

“Running Up That Hill” ( A Deal  with God )

“If I only could, I’d be running up that hill.
If I only could, I’d be running up that hill.”It doesn’t hurt me.
Do you want to feel how it feels?
Do you want to know that it doesn’t hurt me?
Do you want to hear about the deal that I’m making?
You, it’s you and me.

And if I only could,
I’d make a deal with God,
And I’d get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
Be running up that building.
If I only could, oh…

You don’t want to hurt me,
But see how deep the bullet lies.
Unaware I’m tearing you asunder.
Ooh, there is thunder in our hearts.

Is there so much hate for the ones we love?
Tell me, we both matter, don’t we?
You, it’s you and me.
It’s you and me won’t be unhappy.

And if I only could,
I’d make a deal with God,
And I’d get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
Be running up that building,
Say, if I only could, oh…

You,
It’s you and me,
It’s you and me won’t be unhappy.

“C’mon, baby, c’mon darling,
Let me steal this moment from you now.
C’mon, angel, c’mon, c’mon, darling,
Let’s exchange the experience, oh…”

And if I only could,
I’d make a deal with God,
And I’d get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
With no problems.

And if I only could,
I’d make a deal with God,
And I’d get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
With no problems.

And if I only could,
I’d make a deal with God,
And I’d get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
With no problems.

If I only could
Be running up that hill
With no problems…

“If I only could, I’d be running up that hill.
If I only could, I’d be running up that hill.”

Passed the sell by!

We all know  when  a  relationship  has  come  to  an end

When everything good  that  was once  has  simply  disapeared

No  more  to be said it’s  run it’s  course  no need  to drag it out  my  friend.

It is pointless  to pretend there is  any life left in this  relationship

NOT THE APRIL A TO Z CHALLENGE : Catastrophe

Catastrophe

Catastrophe  that is  you and me

Devastation is  what we be

Tis’ what  we  are  you and  me

We should talk, we  should hear

Not give in to fear

Catastrophic

That is us

No hope

Love is in Da Blog : Friends

Just Fooling Around With Bee said : this last week is dedicated to The love of friends!

Okay  before I say  anything  lets  see  what Alanis  Morrisette has  to say  on the matter !

Friends

There  are all types of  friends, good  and bad

Some  a phone call away  who’ll see  you though happy  or  sad.

Friends  who are great  at shopping  and  those who like a drink

Some  just like to mess about  and  some  who will help you  think.

When  things  go wrong  and life  gets  tough

Most  friends disapear when things  get rough

But you  will be  surprised at those  who stay

And  help you cope with  the black, black day

I do have  some  very  good friends  and  I  shall be  looking  into  all different  types  of  friends  this  week, Thanks  be  for making me think!

This  is  Just  fooling  around  with  Bee  Idea  for  a  February  daily  challenge! To  suit  her  spoilt  inner  child…. and  mine  come  to that so  here  we go! Hold on to your heart!  Join in  here    and  here

Love is in Da Blog : Family Love Hiaku

Just Fooling Around With Bee  said: Nothing again today .I shall be  glad  when  she is back on  line I  miss  you Bee.

Family Love Hiaku

Once again the evil worm

Of love eats you up

Nought but grief and  pain remain

This  is  Just  fooling  around  with  Bee  Idea  for  a  February  daily  challenge! To  suit  her  spoilt  inner  child…. and  mine  come  to that so  here  we go! Hold on to your heart!  Join in  here

Talk To Him. Day 21 Nano Poblano

Feelings, I don’t bloody  need  them they just drag you down

The closer  people  are to you, the deeper  they can wound  you.

The  more  you give  the  more  they want, destroying  you with a frown.

Feelings bleed me dry, I stand here tears in  my eye, I don’t know  what to do.

Facing  the storms,  relationships  flounder on the rocks of life.

Others hide the truth never admit that feelings  change after the first flush of youth.

As December nears all the hype  just boosts my fears, drowning in strife.

Please  all of  you stop and think. Don’t  let us all sink! We should  be all for one, in truth.

You can’t  stop  talking, don’t  cut the lines of  communication

You are both of one, don’t  cut off your noses to spite  your faces.

Reach out , a step each  to heal the breach. Please no more consternation.

A word a touch, the  love is in there deep.Find it, use your saving graces.

I need  you both in my life!

Team  Mark

EvDaDaDec : Virtual Sanctuary

Don’t take  away  my only  hope, do not  deprive me of my only  light

This is such an awful  thought  to own up to, it denies me sleep at  night.

It  is my only  solace, escape  from  stress, fear  and noise

It is where I can be  myself  , my sanctuary where I live  my  virtual joys.

So  tired of  solving  problems  that  really have no solutions

Wondering which way  the day will go , is it worth rising and doing my  ablutions?

Christmas  is a nightmare  which I could truly  live without

Spending  days just  seconds from causing  another  fight, I truly  feel I can’t  endure  another  mental bout!

Why  have I tried  so long, to walk on  broken glass, to keep everyone  happy  and together.

It  doesn’t  work. I am to blame for all the angst  and grief and I have ever succeeded, no never.

The  metaphorical blood I have shed  can  float  nightmares on it stormy surface.

I am forever  drowning , slipping beneath the waves , my poetry my  lifeline, life’s saving grace.

So  what will be, will be, I cannot  foresee the future. When it is constantly  being changed.

No point in making plans that I cannot honour , for whatever is said today, tomorrow will be rearranged.

So here I sit  tired and sad with words  clamoring in my  head

Shall I escape  to virtual peace  or just return to bed ?

Howl At the Moon…… Haiku

Tears are no good for you dear

pain and life hate you

scream loud no one can hear you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Big eyes bright smile lies
Life long fairytale begins to fall apart
Hidden feelings behind your hands
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Howl at the moon, loud just roar

Out on the roof tops

Bare you heart expose the flaw.
