Song Lyric Sunday. Interchangeable

Hi It’s Sunday again and it is time for Jim Adams to give us our weekly prompt for #SLS. This week our words are Promise/Vow/Oath .

Well you can’t beat John Denver can you !

Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. (December 31, 1943 – October 12, 1997), known professionally as John Denver, was an American singer-songwriter, record producer, actor, activist, and humanitarian, whose greatest commercial success was as a solo singer. After traveling and living in numerous locations while growing up in his military family, Denver began his music career with folk music groups during the late 1960s. Starting in the 1970s, he was one of the most popular acoustic artists of the decade and one of its best-selling artists. By 1974, he was one of America’s best-selling performers, and AllMusic has described Denver as “among the most beloved entertainers of his era”. Then in these strange times we should all vow to our country, what ever country that is. I wish you all well , and safe.

I picked this video for Beck Goldsmith’s voice it’s so beautiful and pure. She says :

I’m a vocalist, songwriter and composer.

I’m originally from Nottinghamshire, currently live in Derbyshire and often work in London.

I write and record for film, tv and pleasure.

I love playing with textures, atmospheres and soundscapes and am currently exploring creative response to place through contemporary, immersive and experimental forms.

I also love to hear from people and collaborate. Don’t be shy. Information from here.

I Vow to Thee, My Country” is a British patriotic hymn, created in 1921, when a poem by Sir Cecil Spring Rice was set to music by Gustav Holst.

I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love;
The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test
That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;
The love that never falters, the love that pays the price
The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice

And there’s another country, I’ve heard of long ago
Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know;
We may not count her armies, we may not see her King;
Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering;
And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase
And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace

Promises, Promises. Trio of Haiku

Promise of new life ready
Wind born skyward flight
Golden crown becomes silver

He said they would meet
Words to her like pure honey.
Blooms now claim the seat.

Golden promises
Face up worshiping the sun
Buttercup loves fun

Apologies and Promises!

Dear friends and followers and those I follow.

I have tried while away to answer or like as many posts as I could.

Yesterday we got home at midnight! Today has been a haze of cleaning, shopping , washing and cooking! As I mentioned last week my time on here is limited as my husband objects to me writing or being on the computer “all the bloody time” .

When I got  to sit down this afternoon I discovered hundreds of emails…………….. eek !!! I can’t manage, it has broken my heart  but needs must when the devil drives. I have just deleted all the outstanding mail. I shall dip around all your wonderful pages and see as much as I can.  I shall hopefully keep up with the mail now  and  comment and” like”  as normal.

I refuse to give up writing  I love it it has been my savior.

I know there will be arguements and harsh words  but you, your poetry and my poetry is very important to me.

Love and hugs to all willowdot21 xxxxxxxxx
