Today is Sunday so it’s time for Song Lyric Sunday. Jim Adams has given the prompt this week of Days of the week. Two songs spring to mind immediately. Both songs are titled Seven Days, one from Sting and one from Craig David.
Seven Days is from Stings album Ten Summoner’s Tales. It’s the fourth solo studio album by English rock musician Sting. The title is a combined pun of his family name, Sumner, and a character in Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales, the summoner. Released in 1993, it explores themes of love and morality in a noticeably upbeat mood compared to his previous release, the introspective The Soul Cages released in 1991 after the loss of both his parents in the 1980s. The album was recorded at Lake House, Wiltshire, mixed at The Townhouse Studio, London and mastered at Masterdisk, New York.[12] The cover of the album was photographed at Wardour Old Castle in Wiltshire, featuring Hrímnir, an Icelandic horse Sting owned for a period.
l love the song because it’s so real, a bloke procrastinating about asking a woman out, he leaves it so long that she becomes interested in another chap. Then he procrastinates about facing up to the new chap….he is useless!
Then there’s Craig David’s happy little song about boy meets girl and how the week progresses.
“7 Days” is a song by English singer Craig David. It was released on 24 July 2000 as the second single from his debut studio album, Born to Do It (2000). “7 Days” is David’s biggest worldwide hit to date, hitting number one in the United Kingdom and number ten in the United States. It receiving a Gold sales certification in the UK and was the country’s 17th-best-selling single of 2000. In 2001, the song was nominated for the BRIT Award for Best Single (losing out to Robbie Williams‘ “Rock DJ“), and in 2003, it was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. There is also a remix produced by DJ Premier featuring Mos Def.
So there you have it two songs with the same title both totally different.
