Song Lyric Sunday. Hide, Hidden, Hiding.

This week our prompt for Helen Vahdati‘s Song Lyric Sunday is Hide, Hidden, Hiding.

Well I like this challenge.

I have chosen first Imogen Heap with Hide and Seek.

Another of my favourite singer songwriter’s clever songs.

Hide and seek

Where are we? What the hell is going on?
The dust has only just begun to fall,
Crop circles in the carpet, sinking, feeling.
Spin me ’round again and rub my eyes.
This can’t be happening.
When busy streets amass with people
Would stop to hold their heads heavy.
Hide and seek.
Trains and sewing machines.
All those years they were here first.
Oily marks appear on walls
Where pleasure moments hung before.
The takeover, the sweeping insensitivity of this still life.
Hide and seek.
Trains and sewing machines. (Oh, you won’t catch me around here)
Blood and tears (hearts),
They were here first.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that you only meant well? Well, of course you did.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it’s all for the best? Of course it is.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it’s just what we need? And you decided this.
What you say?
Mmm, what did She say?
Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth.
Mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut-outs.
Speak no feeling, no I don’t believe you.
You don’t care a bit. You don’t care a bit.
(hide and seek)
Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth.
Mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut-outs.
(hide and seek)
Speak no feeling, no I don’t believe you.
You don’t care a bit. You don’t care a bit.
(hide and seek)
You don’t care a bit.
You don’t care a bit.
You don’t care a bit.

And for good measure an oldie Goldie written by the Beatles. Hey you’ve got to hide your love away. But with a modern twist here it is sung by the great Oasis

Here I stand head in hand
Turn my face to the wall
If she’s gone I can’t go on
Feeling two-foot small
Everywhere people stare
Each and every day
I can see them laugh at me
And I hear them say
Hey you’ve got to hide your love away
Hey you’ve got to hide your love away
How can I even try
I can never win
Hearing them, seeing them
In the state I’m in
How could she say to me
Love will find a way
Gather round all you clowns
Let me hear you say
Hey you’ve got to hide your love away
Hey you’ve got to hide your love awayere I stand head in hand
Turn my face to the wall
If she’s gone I can’t go on
Feeling two-foot small
Everywhere people stare
Each and every day
I can see them laugh at me
And I hear them say
Hey you’ve got to hide your love away
Hey you’ve got to hide your love away
How can I even try
I can never win
Hearing them, seeing them
In the state I’m in
How could she say to me
Love will find a way
Gather round all you clowns
Let me hear you say
Hey you’ve got to hide your love away
Hey you’ve got to hide your love away

Song Lyric Sunday, Plan. 26/08/18

This is my entry for Helen Vahdati’s Song Lyric Sunday.

I have not much time today as Mother in law is due, no phones or computers allowed when she visits (it all about her) and why not.

So I have picked two of my favourites.

First Oasis and Master Plan. An all time favourite of mine. Very Beatlesques.

“The Masterplan”

Take the time to make some sense
Of what you want to say
And cast your words away upon the waves
Sail them home with acquiesce
On a ship of hope today
And as they land upon the shore
Tell them not to fear no more

Say it loud and sing it proud today

And then dance if you wanna dance
Please brother take a chance
You know they’re gonna go
Which way they wanna go
All we know is that we don’t know
How it’s gonna be
Please brother let it be
Life on the other hand
Won’t make us understand
We’re all part of the masterplan

Say it loud and sing it proud today…

I’m not saying right is wrong
It’s up to us to make
The best of all the things that come our way
‘Cause everything that’s been has passed
The answer’s in the looking glass
There’s four and twenty million doors
On life’s endless corridor

Say it loud and sing it proud today.

Well, dance if they want to dance
Please brother take a chance
You know they’re gonna go
Which way they wanna go
All we know is that we don’t know
How it’s gonna be
Please, brother, let it be
Life on the other hand
Won’t make you understand
We’re all part of the masterplan

AtoZ Lyrics

XTC and Making plans for Nigel.

“Making Plans For Nigel”

We’re only making plans for Nigel
We only want what’s best for him
We’re only making plans for Nigel
Nigel just needs this helping hand
And if young Nigel says he’s happy
He must be happy
He must be happy in his work
We’re only making plans for Nigel
He has his future in a British steel
We’re only making plans for Nigel
Nigel’s whole future is as good as sealed
And if young Nigel says he’s happy
He must be happy
He must be happy in his work
Nigel is not outspoken
But he likes to speak
And loves to be spoken to
Nigel is happy in his work
We’re only making plans for Nigel

Song Lyric Sunday 18/3/18. Shadow.

This week Helen Vahdati has set us the Song Lyric Sunday theme of Shadow.

Rules and Pingback Here

This first song by Imogen Heap, have I mentioned her before, she made this song circa 2005. Say goodnight and go. It’s a very cute song and video but it is about a stalker…so on investigation it’s a tad scary!

Lyrics here from A to Z lyrics.

Goodnight And Go”

Say goodnight and go.
Woah woah. Woah woah

Skipping beats, blushing cheeks I am struggling
Daydreaming, bed scenes in the corner café
And then i’m left in bits recovering tectonic tremblings
You get me every time

Why d’ya have to be so cute?
It’s impossible to ignore you
Must you make me laugh so much
It’s bad enough we get along so well
Say goodnight and go

Follow you home, you’ve got your headphones on and you’re dancing
Got lucky, beautiful shot you taking everything off watch the curtains wide open
Then you fall in the same routine flicking through the TV relaxed and reclining
And you think you’re alone…

Why d’ya have to be so cute?
It’s impossible to ignore you
Must you make me laugh so much
It’s bad enough we get along so well
Say goodnight and go

One of these days, you’ll miss your train and come stay with me
We’ll have drinks and talk about things, any excuse to stay awake with you
You’ll sleep here, i’ll sleep there, but then the heating may be down again
at my convenience
we’d be good, we’d be great together.

[Sigh]
Go!

Say goodnight and go,
why’s it always always
goodnight and go
Darling not again
Goodnight and go

Secondly I have picked a fabulous song by Oasis. I just love the lyrics these guys write. So deep and meaningful almost hyms. This one is Cast no shadow.

The lyrics are in the video. There you have it two shadow songs two very different takes. Have a good week everyone.
