Colleen’s 2020 Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 174 #PhotoPrompt

It’s the third week of the month! Time for a #PhotoPrompt

Jude, from Tales Told Different, selected the photo for this month’s photo challenge. I chose to write a Nonet, a poem of nine lines, starting with a line of nine syllables descending in nine lines to one syllable.

Extinct.

Sat alone under the great Red Wood

Not even an eyelid flickered

Arms extended hands relaxed.

Face devoid of feelings

Brain stilled and un-taxed

No spark of life

Battery

Exstinct

Dead.

WELCOME TO Colleen Chesebro’s TANKA TUESDAY!

Colleen’s 2019 Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 161 #PhotoPrompt

It is the third Tuesday of the month and so it time for our photo prompt from Colleen.

This month’s photo prompt has been provided by me. What does the photo say to you, tell your story in syllabic poetry. Just rely on your emotions.

The young couple at the airport told us (the old couple) of their very recent wedding. They spoke of how beautiful and lavish it had been . They enthused about the food and the guests and the sun-kissed honeymoon they were about to embark on. Yet the bride’s eyes and hands told me a more valid story.

Life’s Patterns, A Nonet.

My

Hands show

Rich patterns

Of my new life

Painted carefully

By Auntys and sisters

To prepare me , as the bride

My heart soars at the sight of them

I am now joined to the man I love.

They symbolise our new path together.

I wish them well.
