Nightmare

It was the same nightmare that he’d had for years. He’d arrive at work and not only had the office and carpark gone. In their place, among the weeds were five desks and five typewriters. He pinched himself on the arm as Dr Capaldy had suggested. But this time he didn’t wake up.

Empty House Nonet : Day 8 Nano Poblano

Silence creeps around  the old  dark house

All quiet, quiet as a mouse .

Suddenly bang goes the door

Louder than ever before.

It was the north wind

Rushing right through

Dancing leaves

Lifted

High.

FanFoFeb : Monster under the bed.

Sitting under the bed watching and  judging me

Why do I do this what is the point, is there a reason

My nails scratch my back till it bleeds, it’s for no one else to see

I scratch till I bleed, it helps me cope with what is wrong.

I am  worthless I am useless and  very  stupid.

Go on says the monster, scratch your back or your arms or even your legs

Do it now go on deeper watch the blood flow just make sure the scars are hid!

Rip your pain out, guts and gore, you are worth nothing. No more than the dregs!

I can no longer fight you monster under the bed.

You have worn me down I feel so worthless.

Yes  you have won, I am convinced you have entered my head!

I can no longer fight, no longer  repel, here I am ready  for your viscous  caress!

How Long

How long have I been running I just do not know, across this dark landscape that I hate so. Is there an end in sight will the fear leave me and will there at the end be light.

I reach the edge of a huge corn field the corn is high and the ears move in the wind they sway and wield. Dare I run dare I move. Will I ever find a balm my soul to sooth.

Crouching in the long grass by the stream I pray and pray I shall wake one day and find this has all been a dream. Once again I hear the approach of the dark soul who on my mind does encroach.

Too late I up and run I feel his hot breath at my back I enter the corn  and I dash  to the light but speed I lack. I feel his nails scratching at me my legs like lead will not carry me. I see the light but it moves away too far too far he mockingly says.

I fall hard and dash my knee too late too late he is upon me.Fear is closing up my throat he has me now I can see his eyes gloat. Just when I can take no more my mind gives out and I fall into the black as I have a thousand times before.

I awake and all is quiet I pull myself up and immediately feel the need for flight.  How long have I been running I just do not know, across this dark landscape that I hate so.
