The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Nov. 19, 2022. Morning.

Hi everyone it’s time for LindaGHill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday again. While she is having a pyjama day, watching snow and nursing her sore Covid booster arm we have our prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “morning.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Morning Greeting

Morning breaks with a crash
The earth awakes in a flash
What’s the story? morning glory.
Dry and warm or cold and haary
Greet the day with open arms
Drink morning tea the brew that calms.
Flora, forna and critters have survived
The night, all glad to be alive.
So we start another morning
Thankful for another dawning.

#TankaTuesday 2/8/22 #Poetry Challenge No. 260, #SpecificForm: Abhanga

Welcome to Colleen Chesebro’s #TANKATUESDAY!

The form is: Abhanga.

My Abhanga is in praise of a new day and is inspired by the video below. The song by Imogen Heap, Xizi She Knows is in praise of the dawn and shows a city waking to a new day. The old man doing Ti Chi at the beginning and the older lady who throws her arms wide and screams her greeting to the dawn, (just before the shot of people throwing leaves off of a bridge) and the man with the gold flag are the shots that truly lift my soul. The whole video is a joyful greeting to the day.

In praise of the New Day.

We greet the new morning
Full of bright new promise
Energy slow release
A brand new day.

Time stands frozen and still
A city wakes, eyes wide
Roads are filled, rivers plied
Worship the sun

Collars turned to the cold
Hats and gloves combat chills
Birds fill the air with trills
Covered in frost.

Another chance to breathe
God give us a new day
And a push on our way
Praise be, thank you.

Frank Tasson’s #Haikai / #154 (8/29/20): Morning-glory (asagao) #haiku #senryu #haibun #tanka #haiga #renga

This week, Frank Tassone asks us to write the haikai poem of our choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to either the cricket (koorogi) or the morning-glory (asagao).

As always: Here’s how the challenge works:

1. write the haikai poem of your choice.
2. post the link of your post to Mister Linky.
3. pingback by posting the link to the challenge on your site.
4. read and comment on other contributors’ posts.

Whats the story morning glory, I ask as I walk out on to the veranda. The sun and the sea greet me and my spirits are lifted. The sound of dawn so different from the night before, no chirping cricket no mosquito buzz just sea lapping the shore. Then I wake to traffic, rain and another dull London day.

Bright bursts of colour

God’s welcome to the new day

Telling us a tale.

********

I chose a Haibun this week because I wanted to use the phrase , ‘what’s the story morning glory’ and it has eight syllables in the line which does not meet any of the other disaplins in the challenge. The phrase is one we use when we meet someone up bright and early. Like the flower greeting the sun.

NaPoWriMo Day 17. Welcome Sun

NaPoWriMo  Day 17. Today’s prompt is to write a a welcome poem.

Welcome Sun

Welcome to a brand new day

We watched you set and go away.

We mourned your loss as you went

Without your light we pray and repent.

Welcome, welcome brand new day

All our worries wash away.

Glorious light we rejoice to see.

Take our souls and set them free.

Dance to greet the brand new  day

The horrors of the night washed away.

All that seemed  wrong and out of true .

Is as it should be thanks to you.

You bring warmth and light for us to grow

We can work our land  and our seeds sow.

We grow under your loving gaze

Our land we work, our animals graze.

Neither we or our planet without you thrive

So each morning we welcome you and thank you for our lives.

Welcome to a brand new day

We watched you set and go away.

We mourned your loss as you went

Without your light we pray and repent.
