This week, Frank Tassone asks us to , write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that states or alludes to either Fall foliage or goose (kari)–or both, if you feel so inclined!
I chose a Tanka.
My ears hear Autumn
Mournful honk of a lone goose
Crisp crushing of leaves
I feel the woosh of feathers
Cold rustling in the north wind
This is part of Frank Tassone’s Haikai Challenge.

SoCS badge by Pamela,
It’s Saturday again and it’s time for #SoCs. Linda G Hill says “Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “leaves.” Use it as a noun or a verb. Have fun!”
I love cabbage, not only to eat though if cooked imaginatively it can be very tasty.
Leaves, cabbage leaves are beautiful. The glorious colour, veiny patterns, and the curly-qué up turn of their outer leaves leaves me awe struck.
Okay perhaps I am waxing a little too lyrical here. Yet you have to admit they are rather smart aren’t they.
That’s all I have time for today. We have guests from Canada staying with us for six days so my posts have to be quick and my reading of posts snatched when I can.
So that only leaves me to say to you is Happy Saturday and SoCs to you all. 💜💜

in Poems Tags: leaves, Lune Day 13, Nature, trees
At Kat Myrman‘s suggestion, along with Jane Dougherty, I’m trying out the Lune form this month. The Lune is a three line poem, either 5/3/5 syllables or 3/5/3 words.
Verdant green shoots grow
Trees stand proud
Nature makes it so.

The wind is whipping up her gown, playing with her hair.
The rustling leaves sing their songs as they skip past her.
Her warm gold ribbons looped loosely through her lusty rusty locks.
Enough to excite the farmers boys up and at their work early, with the noisy cocks.
The Butterflies bid her farewell though sad they know it’s time to go .
Summer has fled and though still fleetingly warm it won’t last long they know.
Something prickly round her toes makes her squeal with sweet surprise
It is a snuffling hedgehog he is looking for a place to sleep away from prying eyes.
She smelt the bonfires ,saw the smoke, felt the chill fingering her back.
Knowing Jack Frost was on his way was pleasing for he was such good crack.
People started rushing home instead of strolling through the park
Children have to come in earlier from play because it is getting dark!
Who is she this beautiful waif , this brown eyed red haired beauty
Of course it is Autumn Annie, here to do her seasonal duty
To gently wave off Susie Summer and warmly welcome Winter Wanda
Yes she brings the fog and wind and makes the days short and the nights grow longer !

Careful where you step when you are out and about. Careful where you tread you might disturb a sleeping elf in their leafy bed.
They’re tiny and they’re pretty but they never stop to think about where they lay their head and sadly if you step on them the result is they end up dead.
So be careful when you rake up your leaves or if you cut you lawn, look out for tiny elves sleeping among the leaves or you will rue their death in the mourn.
Beloved, tiny elves be careful where you choose to lay your head for most humans cannot see you and none of them would wish you dead. And gardeners too be careful as the autumn leaves begin to fall watch out for little elves, look hard because they are not very tall.

Autumn Annie
She is knocking at the window she is rattling the doors, she is finding tiny gaps anywhere and poking leaves through to dance upon your floor.
She is picking leaves from branches and teaching then to dance she is really very good at this, see how they flow and prance.
She is late at waking up the sun, she lets him have a rest he has been working hard for months so maybe that is fair. She also wants him in bed early after he has cleaned his teeth and brushed his hair!
She is wearing lovely colours, golden yellows, greens and brown she is looking very luscious in her glorious flowing gown.
She is persuading all the flowers to cuddle down in their beds she is whispering that her colder sister is on her way so they should hide their heads. She has convinced the grass that growing is really a pain so it dancing happily as it can rest till spring when it will grow again.
She is making lots of cocca for the creatures that hibernate and throwing then a pyjama party before it gets too late. She is checking on the tortoises convincing them that she knows best and sending all the spiders into the house she really is such a pest!
She is painting wonderful sunsets not a brush stroke to be seen. She has such an eye for warm and flaming colours of the landscape she is Queen.
Autumn
She has waved goodbye to her sister the lovely Summer Sandy. They are very close you know, well in a family that is handy. Her older sister yet to arrive is waiting in the wings that is why she is so busy now sorting out and preparing things.
So , She is knocking at the window she is rattling the doors, she is finding tiny gaps anywhere and poking leaves through to dance upon your floor.
