Song Lyric Sunday: Listen.

This week HelenVahdati has given us the #songlyricsunday prompt :Listen.

So thinking cap on !

I have chosen Tears for Fears Listen . From the Album Songs from the Big Chair

It’s not big on lyrics but it a beautifully haunting piece of music and I love it!

Lyrics from A to Z Lyrics

“Listen”

Mother Russia badly burned
Your children lick your wounds, your wounds

Pilgrim father sailed away
Found a brave new world, new world

Listen

(Cumpleaños chica, no hay que preocuparse.)
Soothe my feeling
(Cumpleaños chica, no hay que preocuparse.)

(Cumpleaños chica, no hay que preocuparse.)
Soothe my feeling
(Cumpleaños chica, no hay que preocuparse.)

(Cumpleaños chica, no hay que preocuparse.)
I feel it, soothe my feeling
(Cumpleaños chica, no hay que preocuparse.)
Soothe it, soothe it, soothe my feeling, now I feel it

(Cumpleaños chica, no hay que preocuparse.)
Ooooh, just like I hope the people say, soothe my feeling

(Cumpleaños chica, no hay que preocuparse.)
I feel it, hold me, take a look at my chance
(Cumpleaños chica, no hay que preocuparse.)
Take a look at my mercy, take a look at my feeling

Song Lyric Sunday. 4/10/18 Take.

This week HelenVahdati has given us the words Take/ Taking for #songlyricsunday.

I have chosen Take my Breath Away by Queen. One of their beautiful ballards.

This is one of my favourites from that era 1976. This song is definitely one of their very best. I was 26 years young, married with two children. If I was tired it gave me a lift, it I was sad it helped me, if I was plain stressed it relaxed me! My two older boys grew up on a diet of Queen even when they were in the womb the last lad to a lesser extent but they all know and appreciate Queen.

Song Lyric Sunday. Give/Giving.

This has to be a quicky this week as I have not got much time. So I shall not mess about. This week HelenVahdati has given us the Prompt Give/ Giving for her weekly #SLS challenge.

I have picked one of most commercial, not to mention catchy pop songs ever written. From 1987 Never Gonna Give You Up. Sung by Rick Astley written and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman.

Song Lyric Sunday. Lost.

Hey up Helen, so sorry you are not feeling too good. I really hope that you can get better soon.

This week’s prompt for Song Lyric Sunday is Lost.

I have chosen Lewis Capaldi he is a fantastic Scottish singer songwriter from West Lothian.

I have chosen a video of him sing live. His voice is pure , raw and really touched me. His lyrics have the same qualities as his voice.

“Lost On You”

Lately I’m getting lost on you
You got me doing things I never thought I’d do
Never spent so long on a losing battle
Lately giving up don’t seem to matter

Everyday I’m a slave to the heartache
And you’re wasting away every night
I don’t want to leave you lonely
But I’ve run out of love this time
You know that I adore you
Though I couldn’t give enough
Hope you’ll be safe in the arms of another
‘Cause I can’t take the weight of your love

Lately I’m getting lost on you
I tore your world apart like it was nothing new
Never bled so much when I didn’t have to
I’ve given up on a life lived after

Everyday I’m a slave to the heartache
And you’re wasting away every night
I don’t want to leave you lonely
But I’ve run out of love this time
You know that I adore you
Though I couldn’t give enough
Hope you’ll be safe in the arms of another
‘Cause I can’t take the weight of your love

I had a hold on your soul
But I lost my grip, let you go
I should’ve carried us both

Everyday I’m a slave to the heartache
And you’re wasting away every night
I don’t want to leave you lonely
But I’ve run out of love this time
You know that I adore you
Though I couldn’t give enough
Hope you’ll be safe in the arms of another
Cause I can’t take the weight of your love, of your love
Hope you’ll be safe in the arms of another
Cause I can’t take the weight of your love

Song Lyric Sunday Search.30/09/18.

This week’s Song Lyric Sunday prompt word is search.

I have gone a little off piste this week with Queen‘s Lilley of the Valley.

Brilliant song all about searching for answers to questions that make up our lives.

“Lily Of The Valley”

I am forever searching high and low
But why does everybody tell me no
Neptune of the seas
Have you an answer for me please
And the lily of the valley doesn’t know

I lie in wait with open eyes
I carry on through stormy skies
I follow every course
My kingdom for a horse
But each time I grow old
Serpent of the Nile
Relieve me for a while
And cast me from your spell and let me go

Messenger from Seven Seas has flown
To tell the King of Rhye he’s lost his throne
Wars will never cease
Is there time enough for peace
But the lily of the valley doesn’t know.

This is part of Helen Vahdati’s #songlyricsunday join in here.

Happy Sunday everyone.

Song Lyric Sunday. Glass.

This is my entry for Helen Vahdati‘s Song Lyric Sunday.

This week Helen’s prompt is Glass.

Well I could of chosen “Walking on Broken Glass” by Annie Lennox. Or I could of chosen ” I love the sound of broken glass” by Nick Lowe. Or “Broken Glass” by Hazel O’Connor. All brilliant songs of their time all about glass too.

I thought no, so I have gone for another song that means a lot to me, it often reflects my life. It’s by Annie Lennox and it’s “Through the glass darkly”

“Through The Glass Darkly”

I’m caught up in the middle
But I’ll take it to the end
It’s comin back together
And it’s breakin’ down again
If I could find a reason
I’d say you were my friend
If I could find a reason
I’d say it once again

When I’m with you the days are bittersweet
Still I can’t remember what it feels to be complete
I’ve tried pretending
But it drives me of my feet

I don’t know what its coming to
But I’m looking through
The glass darkly… yea

Bright lights
Come and go
Playin’ blues songs on my radio
Shadows still. appear
In the house tonight
Ooh yea
Ghosts that come in from the past
All those ghosts that keep on comin’ back
Slidin’ through the walls
And my windows
Ooh yea

When I’m with you
The nights are cold and long
Still can’t remember what
It feels like to be strong
I’ve tried to blend in
But it seems I don’t belong
I don’t know what it’s comin’ to
But I’m looking through the glass darkly… yea
Can I find you? can I find you? I can’t find you… yea
Lyrics from A to Z Lyrics.

Happy Sunday everyone.

Song Lyric Sunday, Plan. 26/08/18

This is my entry for Helen Vahdati’s Song Lyric Sunday.

I have not much time today as Mother in law is due, no phones or computers allowed when she visits (it all about her) and why not.

So I have picked two of my favourites.

First Oasis and Master Plan. An all time favourite of mine. Very Beatlesques.

“The Masterplan”

Take the time to make some sense
Of what you want to say
And cast your words away upon the waves
Sail them home with acquiesce
On a ship of hope today
And as they land upon the shore
Tell them not to fear no more

Say it loud and sing it proud today

And then dance if you wanna dance
Please brother take a chance
You know they’re gonna go
Which way they wanna go
All we know is that we don’t know
How it’s gonna be
Please brother let it be
Life on the other hand
Won’t make us understand
We’re all part of the masterplan

Say it loud and sing it proud today…

I’m not saying right is wrong
It’s up to us to make
The best of all the things that come our way
‘Cause everything that’s been has passed
The answer’s in the looking glass
There’s four and twenty million doors
On life’s endless corridor

Say it loud and sing it proud today.

Well, dance if they want to dance
Please brother take a chance
You know they’re gonna go
Which way they wanna go
All we know is that we don’t know
How it’s gonna be
Please, brother, let it be
Life on the other hand
Won’t make you understand
We’re all part of the masterplan

AtoZ Lyrics

XTC and Making plans for Nigel.

“Making Plans For Nigel”

We’re only making plans for Nigel
We only want what’s best for him
We’re only making plans for Nigel
Nigel just needs this helping hand
And if young Nigel says he’s happy
He must be happy
He must be happy in his work
We’re only making plans for Nigel
He has his future in a British steel
We’re only making plans for Nigel
Nigel’s whole future is as good as sealed
And if young Nigel says he’s happy
He must be happy
He must be happy in his work
Nigel is not outspoken
But he likes to speak
And loves to be spoken to
Nigel is happy in his work
We’re only making plans for Nigel

Song Lyric Sunday. Fear.

This week HelenVahdati has given us the #songlyricsunday prompt. Fear

So Fear, well I decided to go Imogen Heap and Rake lt ln.

This is a song about a woman who has a whole array of torture devices that she is going to subject her poor unsespting boyfriend too. Well the words and music are enough to evoke fear and to that Imogen’s scary screaming voice and you get Fear with a capital F .

Then add to that a very scary video made by some high school students with a very clear message and that too is enough to make you fearful too.

I have used this song and video before but I love the song.

And the Lyrics from A to Z Lyrics.

“Rake It In

I am here again

Tied up in your torture frame
Printed paper, guilty to blame
The story stays the same

Dry me out
Run me down
Burn me out
And rake it in, you rake it in, yeah
Dry me out
Run me down
Burn me out
And rake it in, you rake it in
Rake it in, you rake it in, yeah

A slave upon your plate
I am your dreams, yeah your life and your bait
Selfish schemes, i proceed, you await
You my indefinite hate

Dry me out
Run me down
Burn me out
And rake it in, you rake it in, yeah
Dry me out
Run me down
Burn me out
And rake it in, you rake it in
Rake it in, you rake it in

Do you know what my chopping blocks for?
Do you know what my hanging braids for?
Do you know what my chamber maids for?
Can you guess what I, what I have in store for you?

Dry me out
Run me down
Burn me out
rake it in, rake it in

Dry me out
Run me down
Burn me out
And rake it in, you rake it in, yeah
Dry me out
Run me down
Burn me out
And rake it in, you rake it in
Rake it in, you rake it in, yeah

Rake it in some more

Song Lyric Sunday: Drink.

Today Helen Vahdati has given us the Song Lyric Sunday prompt of Drink.

Rules and Pingback Here

Well I didn’t have to think hard about that one I adore Sia and Chandelier is such a great social comment on the drink culture of the young today that I instantly had my first choice.

My second choice is not going to be a popular one, as it is by The Bloody Irish Boys… Oh! I love their music it is loud, brash, unintelligible but so full of life!

Lyrics from Musicmatch

Streams of Whiskey.
Last night as I slept
I dreamt I met with behan
I shook him by the hand and we passed the time of day
When questioned on his views
On the crux of lifes philosophies
He had but these few clear and simple words to say
I am going, I am going
Any which way the wind may be blowing

I am going, I am going

Where streams of whiskey are flowing
I have cursed, bled and sworn
Jumped bail and landed up in jail
Life has often tried to stretch me
But the rope always was slack
And now that Ive a pile
Ill go down to the chelsea
Ill walk in on my feet
But Ill leave there on my back
Any which way the wind may be blowing
I am going, I am going
Where streams of whiskey are flowing
Oh the words that he spoke
Seemed the wisest of philosophies
Theres nothing ever gained
By a wet thing called a tear
When the world is too dark
And I need the light inside of me
Ill walk into a bar
And drink fifteen pints of beer
Iam going, I am going
Any which way the wind may be blowing
I am going, I am going
Where streams of whiskey are flowing
I am going, I am going
Any which way the wind may be blowing
I am going, I am going
Where streams of whiskey are flowing
Where streams of whiskey are flowing
Where streams of whiskey are flowing

Finally another Irish song, Whiskey in the jar by Thin Lizzie. I could not do a song lyric Sunday without it.

There you go three songs💜 Happy Sunday everyone.
