Song Lyric Sunday. Heaven/ Hell.

Today is Sunday and so it’s time for Jim Adams to give us the prompt for Song Lyric Sunday 9th May, 2021 – Heaven/Hell suggested by Amy, Aisasami.

I picked Seal singing This could be heaven , simply because I love it!

This Could Be Heaven” is a song Seal recorded in the year 2000 for his fourth album Togetherland.

The album was scrapped after it was rejected by his record company as they believed the album would not be commercially successful. “This Could Be Heaven” is the only song from the album that was officially released as it was included on the soundtrack for the film The Family Man. The song was released as a single in support of the soundtrack in 2001.

There are two versions, with five different edits of the final version circulating. The first version is an early recording that runs for 3:30, with a more simple arrangement and different chords. More information at Wiki.

We should be right here
Get through all this fear
One of these days ‘Cuz when it comes around
We should be right here
One of these days This could be heaven
This could be heaven Living for the part
Giving from the heart
Now and forever But if we let it wait too long
What we have is gone
Memory only This could be heaven
Maybe we can start a life today
This could be heaven
Love instead of throwing it all away
This could be heaven Whoever thought we would get this far
Trying for all these years
The thought that we would fade away
Is more then I could bear I would do anything if you would stay
If you’d stay say
We should be right here
Get through all this fear
One of these days This could be heaven Turning it all for human kind
With you by my side, say This could be heaven Sure we can decide to run away
But we run away from all this here, when This could be heaven All
This could be heaven Hey heaven, baby
This could be heaven Heaven
(Heaven baby, heaven baby)
This could be heaven
(Hey yes, ah yeah, yeah)’Cus I know you’ll call, I know you’ll call
This could be heaven
Heaven this could be Nah na na, nah nah
This could be heaven, this could be heaven
This could be heaven, this could be heaven One of these days

Then I picked Avril Lavigne because it’s a happy song and I love it.

What the Hell” is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne from her fourth studio album, Goodbye Lullaby (2011). It was released on 10 January 2011 by RCA Records as the lead single from the album. The song was produced by Max Martin and Shellback, who co-wrote the song with Lavigne. According to Lavigne, she wrote the song as her “personal message for freedom”. More information here.

“What The Hell”

You say that I’m messin’ with your head
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
All ’cause I was making out with your friend
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Love hurts, whether it’s right or wrong
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
I can’t stop, ’cause I’m having too much fun
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)

You’re on your knees, beggin’ please “stay with me”
But honestly, I just need to be a little crazy

All my life I’ve been good but now
Ooohhh
I’m thinking “What the hell?”
All I want is to mess around, and I don’t really care about
If you love me, if you hate me
You can’t save me, baby, baby
All my life I’ve been good but now whoa “What the hell?”

What, what, what, what the hell?

So what if I go out on a million dates?
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
You never call or listen to me anyway
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’d rather rage than sit around and wait all day
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Don’t get me wrong, I just need some time to play
(Yeah)

You’re on your knees, beggin’ please “stay with me” (Va fan!)
But honestly, I just need to be a little crazy (Crazy!)

All my life I’ve been good but now
Ooohhh
I’m thinking “What the hell?”
All I want is to mess around, and I don’t really care about
If you love me, if you hate me
You can’t save me, baby, baby
All my life I’ve been good but now whoa “What the hell?”

La la la la la la la la whoa whoa
La la la la la la la la whoa whoa

(La la la la la la la la)
You say that I’m messing with your head
Boy, I like messing in your bed
(La la la la la la la la)
Yeah, I am messing with your head
When I’m messing with you in bed

All my life I’ve been good but now
Ooohhh
I’m thinking “What the hell?”
All I want is to mess around, and I don’t really care about
All my life I’ve been good but now
Ooohhh
I’m thinking “What the hell?”
All I want is to mess around, and I don’t really care about
If you love me, if you hate me
You can’t save me, baby, baby
All my life I’ve been good but now whoa “What the hell?”

La, la

Ronovan Writes Décima Poetry Challenge Prompt No. 34: (STABLE) in the D rhyme line.

Ronovan Writes Decima Challenge Image

It is time for Ronovanwrite’s Décima Challenge and this week it’s the word Stable in the D line. As ever we may, make some kind of link between the Haiku Challenge prompt of Grace and Slip which again I chose to do.

Banished

What evil caused the fall from grace
What caused the fight that banished those
And shut the doors of heaven closed.
Evicted, slipped to earth disgraced.
They were no longer pure or chased.
They lost their wings, they lost their souls.
Still immortal, yet no more whole.
Heaven rent in two, un stable
The bloody war, truth no fable.
The vanquished lost their holy place.

Mary and Jo Part 21

Today is the twenty first day of Advent, leading up to Christmas. I would like to re-run my take on the Nativity story. I first wrote this in 2011, in the style of prosetry. This is also a new chapter.

The angles were excited about the imminent birth. There were emails were aflying and heaven was full of myrth. The Archangels were busy as Gabriel was away, that he didn’t pull his weight was something they could never say.

The holy father and the holy ghost were exhausted trying to contain the twittering and pinging among the heavenly host.

The holy instagram was buzzing fit to burst because let’s face it this new born would really be a first.

Even satan took an interest though he tried hard not to show it. Although he was egging Herod on he kinda wished he’d blow it.

God was secretly excited as he watched and waited. Though in his heart he grieved for how his son was fated.

But let’s get back to happy thoughts the baby is near due and he will be a saviour for me and you.

Gabriel was more relaxed than he had been in aeons. He had not lost his patience for at least three days. He was a new Archangel.

Saint Peter had mentioned this to saint Paul who inturn had mentioned it to the big man himself.

Michael and Azriel were happily going about their work of watching the errant humans. Azriel was relieved not to have had Satan whispering in his ear all the time.

“Where is Satan” saint Peter asked the big man. The big man smiled and winked. ….

Down on earth in the middle of nowhere in particular there was strange new vibes at a stone ring. The word new is not often associated with stone rings.

What was going on saint Paul asked of the big man. The big man touched his nose and smiled. They both looked at Gabriel who was relaxed, calm and happily oiling his sword.

It is all simply explained. Four days ago Gabriel had gone into total melt down. Saint Peter had found him running naked through Heaven’s gates. He had asked the demented archangel what was wrong. One word was the shrieked reply. “SATAN

Saint Peter had reported this latest event to the big man who had immediately visited Satan and frog marched him out of Hell.

They had arrived at the stone ring. The big man smiled and apologised to the old stones for any inconvenience he might be causing them. He explained that this new devil shaped stone would be joining them for a year.

The oldest stone asked what will happen to Hell while he is away. The big man assured them that Hell could wait, it’s timeless.

So peace reined in heaven, while a crotchety Satan did his best to cause trouble with the old stones, who totally ignored him.

Twittering Tales

This is my entry for Kat Myrman’s Twittering Tales.

More trouble in Heaven and Hell.

The snow had fallen for days now. The whole town was cut off. Those stuck in the library were warm and well entertained. Micheal was helping Gabriel search for his talc and Azriel. St Peter had told the Big Man it was a Code White. Satan was warming himself by the fire, happy.
