If We Were Having Coffee – Sept.14/2014
Scotland and Memories
Welcome to Willow’s weekly coffee and tea garden. My name is Paul and I’m happy to be here once again in the garden tending to your needs for a cuppa, and sweets. I must say, it’s great to see you all here in this relaxing atmosphere surrounded by flowers and butterflies. Have a seat where you choose, at a table in the sun or shade, and I’ll be happy to bring a pot of whatever beverage you prefer – we have a wide range of teas and coffees to satisfy our world-wide readership. We can relax while we discuss the affairs of the week both personal and/or worldwide. How has your week been?
It’s been getting chillier here – down close to freezing over night. Parts of Canada have already had snow this season – very early as that doesn’t usually happen until October. We can consider moving our winter tea to one of the wonderful tea gardens – like the one pictured above. It’s very beautiful, isn’t it? Makes me want to just sit right down and dig in with gossip and sweets. We don’t have such beautiful tea gardens in Canada – it makes me envious and yet happy that I get to be your barista here in Willow’s garden.
Scotland
~~~~~~~~~
I followed with interest the continuing story of Scotland voting to separate. We have had what I think is a similar situation here in Canada with our province Quebec. The issue here seems to ebb and flow depending on the economy and political landscape. Like the Scottish and the English, our French and English have had a very turbulent history, Quebecers have voted a number of times to determine separation and the vote has always been close. The situation seems to be relatively calm right now, but still it boils beneath the surface. I know very little of Scottish politics and am wondering if any of our British friends could give me a thumbnail of what is going on. From over here I have always thought of Scotland and its people to be a distinct culture within Britain – but still within the British “envelope” so to speak. Here there is often an “arm’s length” relationship with Quebec that sometimes results in anger and even occasionally hatred. Does that happen between the Scottish and the English too? What is England’s official take on this? Do you personally think it is good or bad? Is there a possibility of healing the rift?
Would you like a refill? Perhaps a sweet or a scone? It’s all calorie free here in the garden you know.
Here in Ottawa housing rental owners are not required to turn on heat to the units until October. So, it was cool in my room last night, around 6 Celsius (42 F). I love sleeping in a cool room, so I bundled up under the blankets and comforters and slept like a baby. It brought back memories of my trucking days. I always slept with the engine off if it was possible – it would burn about $10 of fuel per hour when idling. Some drivers would burrow into Arctic sleeping bags with the engine off at temperatures well below freezing but I drew the line there. Still I loved the cool air and the warm nest and always slept soundly in the truck in the fall. The memories came flooding back last night. These days highway trucks have auxiliary generators that provide temperature control for pennies per hour when parked. They are expensive but pay for themselves over the life of the truck. I would miss sleeping during the cool fall nights. Do you sometimes recall memories that you know the new generation will never have? Do memories sometimes cause you to pause and feel the emotions of the past?
~~~~~~~~
Would you like another cuppa? Willow and I are honored that you dropped by the garden today to visit. I hope you’ve enjoyed yourself and the conversation and please feel free to look around at Willow’s other posts while you’re here. Have a great week. We look forward to seeing you here in the garden again next week.

IF WE WERE HAVING COFFEE: I would tell you how very welcome you are and how much I look forward to our weekly get together, and that I do hope they continue for a while to come. I am so sorry that I have to dash off now but please stay and relax and eat and drink whatever you wish , here in the virtual garden everything is guilt and calorie free. So for now be well and be happy. 😀
If we were having coffee I’d ask you : would you like another cuppa, or a biscuit . I’d tell you I have really come to enjoy these chats and I’d love to hear what you would tell me , If we were having Coffee Original idea from http://parttimemonster.wordpress.com/

Sitting on the sofa laying on the floor
Stretching out on the windowsill hiding behind the door.
Slinking through the hall way shimmying up the stairs
Pulling everything out of the cupboard poking into other’s affairs.
Meowing in the kitchen, there is fish for tea
Pouncing on your sister naughty girl Toffee.
Looking out the window watching the birds run free
Watching me sardonically, is the lazy Choccy.
They’re here with us for a holiday
They often come to stay
We love to have them here and see them at their play!
We really do enjoy having them here while their owners are away.

Coffee for two, cappuccino and an Americano.
No we will sit here we don’t want it to go.
We are on holiday so we can take it slow.
Such a lovely little town people settled in their ways.
This is the place they love and where they will be until they end their days.
Now we have finished and we move on
This little town will carry on as it has always been now we are gone.

Hi I know I do not often just talk to everyone, yet it has been known. Maybe I am frightened to be me in case I am not good enough or just plain boring. But tonight here goes!
Yesterday I was out all day shopping for my , as yet unborn grandchild. I went with a friend luckily or I would of just bought one of everything I saw ! I was like a child in a sweet shop. Anyway after much thought and lot of visits to lots of shops we ended up in the shop we started in and bought a “Baby grow bag” yup it is called a “baby grow bag” It is actually a sort of sleeping bag that does up at the neck and the bottom! 2.5tog would you believe then I bought a pair of navy trousers 6mths to 9months … honest, a navy and white knitted hoody , a navy and white hoody with a red lining, two bibs that match the grow bag and a first pair of shoes!
It does not look much but it was bought with love and care , hopefully it will not be the last things I will buy. The funny thing is shopping has never been something that I enjoy but yesterday I really enjoyed myself.

Today has been a really strange day I am still way behind with all your amazing posts but I do promise I am wading through them and will read all of them!
This morning started well but then while my hubby was out on his walk I hear a terrible commotion in the garden. The Magpies were going berserk. I rushed downstairs and into the kitchen looking out of the window I saw that the sparrow hawk had a pigeon and was viciously attacking it.
I charged out into the garden shout at the hawk to “get ” but it was not afraid of me . I ran right up to it and stamped the ground. The darn bird reared up at me and arched it’s wings over the pigeon. I tried for about 5mins to save the pigeon. Then exhausted upset and crying I had to give up. At some point the sparrow hawk left leaving behind a seriously wounded pigeon on the lawn. ( the picture below is taken from the net to show you all what it looks like)
Hubby returned , he has a great love of all animals and really he should of been a Buddhist, honestly he would not knowingly harm a fly. He was horror struck , we did not know what to do for the best. Unfortunately the bird was not dead, I say unfortunately because it must of been in great pain. “What shall I do” ask hubby well I told I knew what we should do but neither of us was capable of doing that.
We ended up covering it with a box to protect it and help it rest and maybe recover. Then our middle son came round for a visit and we had coffee and I cooked him some breakfast, while I was doing that the sparrow hawk returned , swine, looking for it’s meal. Thank goodness we had it protected under the box.
After much discussion and searching on Google ( by Hubby) it was decided to box up the pigeon put the box in the old cat carrier and take it to a bird rescue center near us. ( it actually said ‘we are bird friendly’ I had to go to town to do a few things so hubby went on his own .
When I got home from town I found hubby and middle son deep in discussion . The lady at the rescue had said she would give the pigeon some painkiller ( thank goodness) and then take it to the vets. It was all dependent on if the wounds would heel . Hubby gave them the cat carrier, they seemed delighted about that and he also gave them a donation. He said there were lots of birds there including a large Raven who had been a hairs width from his ear at one point! So we can ring in a week or so to see if our guy survives. I like to think that as he survived a prolong attack, being under a box for a couple of hours , being handle and then driven to the rescue and he was still alive I think the little guy will make it. I think he wants to live.
So it is fingers crossed that pigeon survives, and fingers crossed I have not bored you all to death or sleep. Tomorrow is another day starting with Pilates and hopefully sometime to spend on wordpress. Be well be happy and be patient with me.
Love willow xxxx

They told me the job was easy, the told me my days would be free
but the fact that it would take me eons to complete was the fact they kept from me.
They asked if I was serious, they inquired if I was trustworthy, hard working and able to work alone.
They forgot to tell me my eyes would be completely boggled every morning when I got home.
They gave me a computer a pad and pen
and they threw in broadband but after that I did not hear from them again!
Their medical division offered me some dark glasses but I think that was a joke.
The scientific section got me a telescope. I was all excited with this job and so full of hope.
They showed me my work station it was in a field
they bought me in a ergonomic chair across the grass it wheeled.
I was allowed two tea breaks and a 30 minute lunch
but definitely no coffee at my desk, and they threw in some coloured bands so I could keep my pens all in a bunch.
They gave me an umbrella in case there should be rain
and a little woolly hat just to protect my brain.
So now I was ready excited and inspired
I was determined to make them glad that it was me they had hired.
Now I hear your brain ticking I know what you want to know
what is it that my job is and why does it please me so.
I have to count the stars all of them up in the skies.
Which means I shall be busy every night with stars before my eyes!

Ruby is a working girl on duty night and day she works so very hard she rarely has time to play.
We were not busy today, my friend and I, so we dropped in on her as we were passing by.
Ruby was so pleased to see us she could hardly contain herself she was dashing here and dashing there and knocking things from off the shelf.
It was lovely to escape the three of us to green fields and the sun we wondered round and round chatting laughing, just having fun.
Then a silly thing, my foot began to itch so I slipped my shoe off to rest it on the damp grass green..unfortunately for me there was dog muck there lucking unseen.

That was really nasty an unwelcome surprise people who do not clean up after their dogs really make my temper rise.
So there we were scrabbling in field. My foot dirty and smelly well that was not in the deal. But Ruby she was not bothered she ran and sniffed and played this was her only time she not have to behave!!
My shoe and and foot duely wiped we just had to laugh for Ruby was such a joy to see and went I got home I could have a bath.
So finally we walked Ruby back to work, she was so happy to greet her mistress we could see Ruby was no shirk.

As we walked home we marvelled at her skill how she looked after her mistress and her kept safe and protected her from all ills.
We laughed about my smelly feet and what we would like to do to those who do not clean up after their dogs ! We decided that they all should be fed to hungry hogs!!!!
Ruby and her fellow working dogs are silent heroes, often not thought of and definitely unsung but Sue and I think they are the best and Ruby is our favourite one!

busy Annya
Annya was busy she had three rooms left to do then another hallway after that she would be through. Suddenly her vacuum died and went quiet, turning round she found the housekeep looking concerned and white!
“According to your records you were a doctor in your country, is that true.” “Yes “said Annya , thinking that was another life, “just what is that to you. ” It is that young couple staying David’s room they have no money and she is not well. Could you check her out I will get Hannah to finish off your rooms.
Without another word the two women made for David’s snug Annya pleased to be able to use her given expertise, felt like giving the Jean a hug! When they arrived Mares looked stressed with pain, fear in her eyes. When she was told of Annya’s skills she was so relieved she cried. Irena was there too and she smiled at Annya you need to reassure our patient that we know just what ticks and what she has here now is a case of Braxton Hicks.
Annya checked Mares out and with Irena she agreed that for Mares to rest and for the couple to stay there really was great need. Jean the housekeeper smiled and said that would be fine David was sharing with the concierge and the manager had seen the couples good effect on his business so he certainly would not mind.
Irena gently told Mares that before she had travelled here and be come a maid she had been a midwife and Annya was a doctor and so a birthplan the three of them made. Jo was so relieved he went for a walk and as he was hoping Gabe turned up for a talk. Gabe told him to fear not that all would go well and after the babe was born as soon as Annya told them all was well they should pack up and go.
Happily humming Annya almost skipped along to her room and from the very back of her cupboard she dug out her Drs bag and her books from where they had laid hidden in the gloom.At last she thought, I can again do just what I love, even if it was just for a short time it was like a gift from up above.Irena too was happy she and Annya were good friends they had travelled to this hotel together and now together they could practice medicine again!
Magi.com had landed and were Hilton bound in their hired limousine they needed food , drink and rest but after that to find the babe they were very keen. After research on the plane they were even more determined not to contact herod.com again.

I had an exploding tin of flowers , it made me feel fine. I would slip out after hours and watch the flying colours while I drink my wine.
I offered you my flowers I hoped to make you happy too. Sadly you were allergic and you came out with symptoms like the flu.
I tried to put my exploding flowers back into the tin it was so very hard to do my patience soon began to wear thin.
All I really wanted was to spread a little fun but so far I’ve made you feel ill and I have cut my thumb!!
That’s it I have had enough now, they came out so they must go back in, they wont , they don’t OH! darn it I’ve had enough they are going in the dustbin!
