#Haikai Challenge #156 (9/13/20): new coolness (shinryoo) #haiku #senryu #haibun #tanka #haiga #renga

This week, write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to new coolness (shinryoo).

After the days heat

Breeze refreshes tired souls

The smell of Autumn

Temperatures are dropping

Happy relief for us all

This is part of Frank Tassone’s Haikai Challenge.

#Haikai Challenge #152 (8/16/20): katydid (kirigirisu) #haiku #senryu #haibun #tanka #haiga #renga

Today for Frank Tassone’s Haikai Challenge We have been asked to write about a Katydid. We do not have Katydids in England but I have seen and heard them when on holiday abroad. Today I have written a Haiku about the image Frank gave us and also Tanka.

#Haikai Challenge #150 (8/2/20): Sturgeon Moon #haiku #senryu #haibun #tanka #haiga #renga

Today or tonight 3rd Aug there is a full moon. Frank Tassone tells this full moon has many names, among them Sturgeon Moon. So as we transcend from Summer to Autumn Frank suggest: “This week, write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to the sturgeon moon.”

I have chosen a Tanka .

Summer’s passing I grieve

Yet soon her gifts we’ll receive

Silver reflections

Stone cast, sturgeon moon ripples

And so the world keeps turning.

#Haikai Challenge #149 (7/25/20): Waterfall (taki) #haiku #senryu #haibun #tanka #haiga #renga

This is my first visit to Frank Tassone’s Haiku Challenge. I have written a Tanka about how waterfalls affect my soul.

Sparkling silver bright

Hidden from mind all danger

The urge to be free

Takes me through crystal waters

Drowning my soul in freedom.
