The Best Laid Plans

Not  a  brilliant  day  so  I  rewrote  a  ROBERT BURNS Poem to suit my  present  mood!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry
You  think  you  have  all corners  covered  then  fate  pokes  you in the eye!
Your day is meticulously ordered, your  plans  are  carefully  laid.
Trying to  complete your tasks, when the unforeseen pops up and  your  nerves  are  frayed!
Daisy’s Fate
The noise  grew  as it  closed in on her, now  she could  feel  the  earth  shaking  and  shuddering  as this  terrible  thing  approached.  She  was terrified   and  visibly  trembled,drawing  herself  up  to her  full hight she took a  deep breath. I shall survive  she  told herself  it  would be too cruel  to perish  now  just as she had attainted  all her  goals.
The  noise  grew  and it was here, the  blades  sharp  as knives whirring  round, she  could hear  the screams and  cries of  the  others as they  were ripped  and chopped  and sucked in. Fear  took hold of her  and  she blanked out.
Finally  she realized, or rather  felt  that  the  noise  had  stopped  the  machine was gone and  she with a few others  were  still standing. She  felt  the sun  she  smelled  the  grass she was spared  she  was alive  and oh! it  felt  good.
She  surveyed  the scene  the carnage  so many  friends  and family  gone. Some  completely,  others  laying  mutilated  and  dying, softly  moaning.
A child  a little  girl  approached  her  they looked  at  each other  the  child reached out  NOOOOOOOOOOOO!  she screamed  but  the child unhearing  and unaware   reached out  and picked her ……. later  that  day  she was abandoned  and  she  slowly  withered  and  died, joining  her  slaughtered  friends  and family.
Love is in the Da Blog : Birth of a love affair .
Fooling Around  With  Bee  said  : I have challenged you a little with the last two prompts so today we’ll go insanely creative and write a short story about “A Love Affair”.
Birth of  a love affair
Sitting at window each day
He sees her as he passes her way.
He drives to work early you see
And she is usually there  drinking  her cup  of tea.
Each morning as she starts the day
She hopes the loneliness will go away.
With her  cup of tea sitting in the bay
A lovely way to start the lonely  day .
He wonders what she would say
If he plucked up the courage and knocked at her door one day.
Perhaps an evening would be best,
With a bouquet of flowers and in his smartest suit dressed.
Looking out she’d often see the cars passing by while she is sitting there.
A handsome young man always looks her way,
So often now she almost gave  him a wave.
He looks so cute as he catches her eye
Each morning as he passes by.
She wonders would he ever stop
And through her door a note he would drop.
They could meet, that would be great
But just how to curve the paths of fate.
Time moves on and so does he,
He is one she no longer sees.
It is a shame she often thinks
As she sips her morning drinks.
One morning being early for work
She stops for a coffee to give her mind that extra perk.
Standing in the queue eyes wander
Landing on a profile that makes her heart beat stronger.
He parks his car everyday
From his work a healthy walk away.
He likes to exercise, he always wonders if the girl in the bay
Has noticed he no longer passes her way.
She was so cute, he thinks of her most every day.
As  he stops for coffee at the usual place,
Waiting in the queue he sees a familiar face.
So as they both turn and come face to face
She smiles at him their  hearts  pick up  the pace.
He flashes her his biggest smile
As butterflies tango in his tummy all the while.
Would she like a coffee she hears him ask,
She would and she tells him so,
Shall we drink it here have you time before you have to go.
So shall we leave them sitting there together now at last .
They do look happy to have met. The shop is busy but they are all alone.
After work they both return to meet, she loves her flowers and then he drives her home…….  ❤  ❤
Merlin’s Soltice
The first rays of the golden sun burst forth upon the solstice morn.
Merlin could see for miles, yet it was not what he could see
But what he knew that caused him to mourn.
His fate entwined with Arthur, who he would out live  but he would never be free.
So much pain, so much joy, yet no peace nor rest for Merlin.
He was terrified to realize that he was immortal
What a dark premonition, to see down the years unfurling
No real rest no real peace on and on no escape portal.
Looking out across the land, finally united
Harvests good and people happy  if only his job was done.
Five men good and true to Arthur had been knighted.
If only Merlin didn’t have to know all his his battles had to be won.
Poor Merlin so much for him to carry
so much information in his dreams
So much future so many deeds to face and parry.
Merlin  sees it all on this solstice mourn all stretched out before him.
Fate intervenes
