EvDaDaDec: Mae and Polar Bear. 31/12/12

Deep within her castle . The evil witch of the East reached out her soul.

Over fields of snow and mountains high she soared though not whole.

She traveled straight to her enemies camp and into Polar bears mind!

At once Polar Bear awoke not as himself but as the wicked Witch.

Before anyone could move she grabbed  the child and was gone, her plan perfect, carried out without  a glitch.

Poor Polar Bear fell to the ground his body was still as still

For  with  the child  the Witch  had taken , also, Polar Bear’s  free will.

He lay there in a coma , this is what our  precious Mae  had  seen.

This horror was the reason that her screams had awoken her from her dream.

Mae  was inconsolable her fears were running riot
But however much she dreaded the worst, her terrors she had to quiet.

Ewen stood before her he had listened to what  she had seen

There is no hope of turning back  now, whispered the Winter Queen.

So with heavy  heart and sickening fear Mae mounted,  Vlad, her ride

Ewen  and his Sister  too astride their snow white bears moved swiftly  to her side.

They  sent out the Ravens  but sadly they new Mae’s dream was true.

Win or loose they had to fight the East Witch  there was nothing else that they could do.

Fly away faithful birds find for us the news

Of  the fate of Polar Bear and Mae’s half  brother too.

The party made their way up into the mountains

Step  by step they, not easy they made small gains.

The mountains were treacherous and they met many dangers on their way

Many tales of that journey I could tell but time is short so it must wait  for another day.

On they went through the fiercest storm the world had ever seen.

Some of Ewen’s brave men were lost, their lives given for Mae , the child and the Winter Queen.

SADLY THE DANGERS OF THE MOUNTAINS ARE NAUGHT TO WHAT LIES AHEAD.

EvDaDaDec: Little Mae and Polar Bear 30.12.13

Time  seemed suspended as  the small party  moved on

With their  eyes searching but not seeing , all landmarks gone.

The Queen though brave  felt dread in her heart

Not  knowing  if help would come in time , she had been uneasy from the start.

Mae rode Vlad, the Winter Queen’d most beloved Bear

He was strong , clever and fearless and of Mae  he would take care.

The cold was biting and the wind  froze  their breath

Though  all was covered  with snow , nothing could hide the smell of death.

The landscape barren, a forgotten frozen waste

Let  us hope that reinforcements come, and come with all haste.

As the travellers reach the end of the the valley  that they have been passing through

Mountains loom above them, there is no way round them, so to cross them is what, they will have to do.

Mae was struck  by horror this seemed an impossible task

But  the Winter Queen  assured her they could do this, but her fears were hardly masked!

Darkness was closing in  they could see it advancing  like a curtain of black

They stood there knowing the only way was forward , for there was no turning back.

Just when they felt that all was lost , a figure came towards them,as in a fairy tale!

It was the Winter’s brother who had been keeping watch for them in this ungodly gale.

Quickly  he shepherded them  back to  his battle camp.

With food and warmth  they thawed, relieved that for now they had ceased their tramp.

Ewen  was a noble man who loved his sister dear

As  soon as he received his sister’s call for help , his destiny was clear.

He had  and army  of a thousand  men, all of them good and true

But he knew he would need more as out of the Witch’s lair  thousands would spew.

Mae slept exhausted exactly where she had dropped

Ewen and his sister talked while keeping watch. Then with the dawn the snow stopped

The night passed quickly  and Mae was with her brother in her dreams

She suddenly  saw Polar Bear turn into the Witch of the East! Mae woke the whole camp with her terrified screams.

THE ROAD AHEAD FOR OUR TRAVELERS WILL NOT BE EASY.

EvDaDaDEC. Not a Bad Bloke

It is cold  and fresh outside and the lawns  a white and crisp and even

The sands of time are running out for the old year. It’s packed and ready for the leavin’

Christmas has been and gone with all of it’s bluster  and show and  we have left behind the feast of Stephen.

Sadness is hangin’ round suspended in these nowhere days, the new years’s on it’s way so why the grievin’

We all move slowly, zombie like ,betwixt and between the old and the new.

Doing  as we are bid shop, shop  get to the sales . You need something to do.

The past is stretched out lazily idly playing  with your head. Push it off Shooo!

Approaching fast  from the future the come the new bringing hope and all that  will ensue.

Greedily   stocking up are energy and hope full of ideas and readiness to cope.

Come  now shake off the lethargy of  the old stretch yawn , don’t mope!

You can’t  stop this anyway we are all on the precipice about to fall down the slippery slope

So embrace the old, give him a hug at least you know him. Raise a glass in farewell he’s not a bad bloke!

EvDaDaDec : DIVINE, FINE,MINE.

I  could not  believe  their beauty, going for a song

Well it  may be an opera , calling to me  with a message oh! so strong.

Lovely, lovely  comfy boots calling  out  to me

Buy us they pleaded ,go on  set us free.

I wanted them, no I did not need them.  How beautiful are they

Striding  through the door , I’ll have those boots in the window I say!

OH! they feel so DIVINE, they fit so well give me now MINE!

Can’t get home quick enough  to check them out . So FINE!

Now I am floating through the streets, in my boots so neat.

People stop and stare, I am flying high feeling so sweet!

I feel young, I feel sexy, I know I’m not  but I feel complete

My boots , so new, so gorgeous, the best, a real treat!

EvDaDaDec : Walking away.

It is the day after boxing day , it dry and the sky  was blue!

I was alone  and restless  so I went  for a walk  for something to do.

As left  the house the streets were deserted and quiet

But as I neared the town they were having  a riot!

The  shops were full as  full as  they could  be

People  pushing shoving  arguing as far as the eye can  see.

Please , excuse me, thank  you have  become redundant words

As I walked  pass the shops I thought  they were all acting  like a herd!

As I turned upon my heels and headed  back away from the town

I walked toward  the fields and trees away from the crush

The  cool air took the breath from me I felt my stress go down.

Walking  was so  much better out here in the open away from the town and the rush.

As I walk I start to breath,

As far behind  the shops I leave.

People pushing , grabbing what’s  the gain

I prefer to be out here alone so much  more to gain.

EvDaDaDec : Out with the old in with the New

Okay time  to pull myself up  by  my boot lace

Paint  the smile of make up on  my face

Out with the old in with the New

Sorry  dear friends  for casting  my worries on  you.

The old year  tired and worn  is slowly packing its bag.

Lets not detain it, it’s course is run.  Raise it’s cloak to ease  the drag.

The world is waiting  for the New Year , though why I am not sure

Nothing magical ever happen’s, nothing changes. Yet wait  here comes Hope a knocking at  the door.

EvDaDaDec : Nativity

He  burned  bright  he burned high

His  arrival en-blazoned  in the sky.

He had but  a short time on this earth

For  some  reason  he decided mankind  had worth

She  was  modest she was pure

All who knew her of  this were sure.

She  was gentle and she was fair

Where ere she walk  goodness filled  the air

The quiet  young man at  her  side

Had  believed her  when she  had cried.

The  stranger  who  he  had met on his way

Had  convinced him of her truth that day.

To Nazareth for the census count

The girl pregnant with a donkey  for her mount.

In  those  days  you not ring  ahead

So not one inn had  for them a bed.

Finally  as her time grew near

An innkeeper  took pity on Our lady  dear.

No room  but  the stable dark  and damp

His  wife  found  blankets and a lamp.

I wander if the good wife  stayed

To  help   help the tired  and frightened maid

I’d  like to think  so, so  the young  couple  were not alone

For it would of been very  scary unaided  so far from home.

There was love and magic and light from somewhere, all around

Birth though a natural act is tough but somehow in it a miracle can  be found.

The light  draws people in  to see the new born child

There in a manger swaddled  tight,  loved  by  his mother mild.

He  burned  bright  he burned high

His  arrival en-blazoned  in the sky.

He had but  a short time on this earth

For  some  reason  he decided mankind  had worth

EvDaDaDec: Little Mae and Polar Bear. 22.12.13

Please protect my  brother  please Polar Bear

I feel evil  all around us  from I don’t  know where.

The  Winter Queen  and I, must  our  enemy meet

Without  full knowledge of her plans we can  not her defeat.

Unhappy to stay  behind leaving Little Mae without  his protection

Felt wrong  to him , like  putting an offering  out  for the East Witch’s collection.

Yet  so adamant  was Mae the child was to be in his care

He agreed  to do as he was bid , to upset Mae  he did not dare.

7a4e131921948e7cc73d8b0094fc2a35-d3ea1rk.jpg

The  Winter Queen was ready , so beautiful, so very brave

She knew  the Witch of  the East, she knew exactly  how badly  she could  behave.

Polar Bear  so uneasy at Mae’s  plans  to visit the witch, feared  for her life.

He  warned the Winter Queen  if she returned  without  Mae  he would cause  her strife.

Mae, upset  but  touched  by Polar Bear’s threats to the Queen

Took  his paw  and promised  she would  return as would  the Queen.

The  Child  must  be kept safe  at whatever  the cost

Mae somehow  knew that  without  this child all would  be lost!

So the child was left in safety  with Polar Bear

Mae  knew  no one else could afford more care .

So out into the night, Out into the dark and the snow.

To face  what dangers the like of which we do not know.

SO WE LEAVE THE CHILD TO SLEEP SAFE

EvDaDaDec: Tree and Wreath

Christmas Tree

Look at me see how I shine see my lights and decorations entwine. I twinkle lustrous in the dark and  to this room I add a spark of Christmas Cheer. Catching everyone’s eyes as they enter here.

In the day I seem to change, my colour takes on a different hue. I am the green of the fresh wooded hills life and joy out of me spills.

Hidden in my branches are lights like jewels and tiny presents , crackers, toys Oh! yes excitement rules. In the sun light my lights are not so bright they glow far more brightly in the night.

Little children’s eyes always light up when they see me. To their Christmas fun I hold the key. When they come down on Christmas morn they see their presents my branches adorn!

Christmas Wreath

See me here outside your door I am here to let all know what is in store. Pretty balls on either side a few stars and bows and a parcel too. I love my colours red, gold, green and blue to me they are the most beautiful I have ever seen!

Every day as it draws nearer the excitement in the children’s eyes grows clearer. The birth of Christ is what we celebrate take heart it is near now soon we can rejoice our faith.

So dear friends be of good cheer. Our saviour’s birthday is very near. So gather your fruits of tree and earth  and raise your glasses to salute the saviour’s birth.

Sorry this  is an old one  but I have  no time at  all today!!

EvDaDaDec: Does my memory serve me well?

Okay  today  is  going to be different , I am  not  writing  a poem  this is me blogging  in prose!

Today  was a total  mare! I was awake  half  the night. Backache  ably assisted  by an over active  brain! Christmas, the family  how can I get them through the season of  good will without there being a massive row! Season of  good will , well that is a joke . I struggled through the day shopping cooking  and all afternoon I had a steady stream of  visitors  very nice  but hardly conducive to completing the day’s tasks!   I got jostled in the streets, shoved out of the way and one point  a man and woman completely  blocked  my way for at least 2mins  while I just stood there waiting for them to allow  me to pass.  When they finally moved I said thank you loudly ( I know I should not of done that  but I was annoyed and ready  to give them a piece of  my mind ) but  they just ignored me . I did actually wonder if I was invisible!

I remember  when Christmas  was special, when my mum used  to go shopping Christmas eve and come home with everything needed, not only that  the shops were closed for at least three days and even more if Christmas fell on a weekend.

When I was really young I used to go to bed at 8pm ( and believe me that was late for me then) and the house was busy  but normal. I would wake up at 7ish am and by magic the fairies  had been, the house was decorated, there was a Christmas tree all decorated with presents under it! At the end of my bed there could be a pillowcase full of exciting  little things.

What ever time I got up  mum was always up  before me and she was in the kitchen cooking.  We always ate at 3pm and after dinner we opened all our presents together. I have no idea where the money came from because there were six of us  and only  my dad worked , mum stayed at home  and was mum!

We went to church Christmas morning  and it was again special. Carols and the crib with the baby Jesus in the manger. It was not about spend spend spend. It  did not start at the end of September , it was not all about getting expensive presents it was about all being together , being happy  …………… I am sure there was as much  homelessness, child abuse, spouse abuse  I am sure there was. I was lucky as a child not to have to know about any of that.

We were not rich  but we were happy………… Is that just  my memory playing tricks , was it like that ,it is not like that now. I must go to bed now I have another day to face tomorrow.
