Our Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “ends with -ly.” Start your post with any adv\nerb that ends in “-ly.” Bonus points if you end with an adverb too. Have fun!
Quietly, Softly
Quietly, softly they reached out to eachother. No one seemed to give them a second thought.
Huddled in the corner of a doorway trying to avoid the bitter wind and lashing rain.
People unwittingly passed by not giving the wet box in the corner of the doorway a second glance.
Finally a young man heard they soft plaintiff sound coming from the box and stopped.
Quietly he reached over and looked into the box. What he saw shocked him deeply. There were two of them, struggling to hold on to life. Two tiny little souls clinging on to life, clinging on to eachother.
Two tiny boys only a few hours old, covered in their mothers blood. The young man picked the two lost souls out of the box and wrapped them in his coat. He tapped 999 into his mobile.
The paramedics asked the young man if he wanted to go with them to A & E, he did willingly.
The tiny boys died an hour after they arrived still holding hands. They breathed their last together.
The young man cried softly, he didn’t know these tiny twins but he had wanted to save them.
On the other side of town she wept bitterly, scared and alone she prayed someone would find them. The pain had stopped now but she was still bleeding. So cold and alone, she died crying softly.
Three young lives gone in one night, twin babes and barely teenager gone harshly, sadly painfully.
