The golden Wyvern circles high
He dips and dives and gives a swoop
Heart full of joy he loops the loop
Scales sparkle as he sails the sky
T’is true magic to see him fly.
The Golden sunset is his cue
To be up, he has things to do.
A fantastical sight is he
To see a Wyvern roaming free
Fire from nostrils, scales green and blue.

Sleep softly

As thousands of feet

Walk past you

Men are blind

To all your timeless wisdom

Older than all time

Instructions.

Approach in clear line of view. No sudden or aggressive movements. Speak gently. A dragon always reacts better to calm, gentle handling. You must master this first meeting, you never get a second chance. Remember you are a dragon keeper, you need a dragon more than they need you.

Beware the sleeping Dragon

Can

you see

him there his

Head finely carved.

Eyes fixed in a stare.

Don’t walk upon his back

Be respectful and have care

For millennia he’s slept there

Resting, gathering strength he awaits

Merlin’s call to help save us from our fate.

We

Do not

See him there

We choose not too

Dragons are not real

Ever denying truth

We do not believe enough

Yet the Dragon believes in us.

Storing his strength to be ready

For the call he will rise when all else falls.

Twittering Tales #119 – 15 January 2019

This is my entry for Kat Myrman‘s of Like Mercury Colliding prompt for Twittering Tales.

Someone had to stay up all day and night to keep the fires hot. It was so important that the alixier was maintained at 275 F. Douglas was tired of breathing life into dying embers. This job was far beneath his potential. He was a mighty dragon, sadly enslaved to a vain witch!

Ps. Now we all know what happened to Puff the Magic Dragon AKA Douglas.

Sue Vincent Thursday photo prompt: Turrets #writephoto

This is my entry for Sue Vincent of The Daily Echo‘s Thursday Photo Prompt Challenge.

There he lay on the summit of the Clift next to the castle. He knew he was dieing, his wound was mortal.

The gaping hole just above his tail had long since stopped hurting. He was so tired and cold. Both the feeling of tiredness and cold were new to him. Always the internal fires he owned had kept him warm and there was no room for tiredness in the life of a Dragon king.

He looked across to the castle where his beloved mate was clearly visible. She looked glorious even in death affixed to the turret and covered in gold.

He wept, he grieved a feeling until now unknown to him. He thought of revenge but it was too late he was already turning to stone.

The last of the dragons, now gone.
