Just Jot It January. Day One.

This a very late entry for day one of Just Jot it January. This is another brainchild of the very talented LindaGHill

Today’s prompt for the 1st of January 2019 is to write whatever you want. If you have not already written about your new year resolutions, now would be the perfect start. What ever you do have fun.

As luck would have it I have already done that so I shall have to write about something else.

It’s getting late and I don’t want to miss out on doing JusJoJan. So I am going to write about the fact that I actually did absolutely nothing today. I got up early and walked Ruby, then I basically bummed around all day. There that’s not a particularly good start to this month’s exercise but there we are let’s hope I can improve. Here is a little Etheree.

Late

A rush

To create

I had no time

For contemplation

Poetic juices flowing

From were I just do not know

So I opened my mind and tapped

My phone’s screen fast, releasing the flow

Exactly where this will end I don’t know.

September Music 1

For the month of September I am going to choose a piece of music or song and write a poem or alternative version. Jane Dougherty is doing a September Stanza here. And Kat Myrman is doing September a poem a day Here

Day One Lacrimosa by Mozart.

Tears Tanka.

Tears fall , I am lost

The angel weeps tears of stone

Judgement day dawns cold

The good and the bad are judged

Tears fall on the young and old.

Lune Day One.

At Kat Myrman‘s suggestion, along with Jane Dougherty, I’m trying out the Lune form this month. The Lune is a three line poem, either 5/3/5 syllables or 3/5/3 words.

The weather held fine

I walked the fields with canine

Dark grey clouds stayed fine.

42 Day One

Okay I am four days behind but hey life has been very busy here!!

Jane Dougherty has come up with a theme for May . It is 42, now Jane discribes it thus: “42 after Douglas Adams’ answer to the question of life, the universe and everything. The form is like the Cherita in its structure with a bit of added interest. The first line/stanza asks a question or makes a statement that begs a question, the second stanza/two lines sets the scene or the background, the last stanza/three lines answers the question or resolves it in some way.

Why sit up all night

Putting wrongs to right

Fighting the good fight.

Because we feel the need

To sow the correct seeds

While the world just bleeds.

Fluorescence Day One.

New Month, New Disapline.

Day One of the Florescence, courtesy of its creator, Jane Dougherty.

Dark feeling swamp my heart

Pain pealing hot tears start

Why must we be apart, I am lost.

What a panic what a fuss

Screaming, shouting hear them cuss

All this clammer for such a tiny thing

It doesn’t bite it doesn’t sting.

This is really not good karma

To be caught up in so much drama!

November Yeats challenge: Day One

Well it’s November and I am joining Jane Dougherty in an alternative to the scary grown up NanoWritMo.

I agree with Jane that it is easier to write than get your book published, even self published. So I shall be joining her in writing a poem a day, fingers crossed, using a couple of lines which she will have picked from a WB Yeats poem.

The first lines chosen are

“they will ride the North when the ger-eagle flies,

With heavy whitening wings, and a heart fallen cold:” —W. B. Yeats

Jane’s first poem and her explation of this Alternative Challenge is here.

My first poem inspired by Yeats’s words is about Canadian/ North American First Nation, indigenous women, Inuit, Metis and Native American. Read about them here.

 The disappeared.

They did not all ask to die

Not all had that choice

Some did just go, no reason why.

Others are lost without a voice.
They would blacken the Northern sky

If they could only be seen

Competing with magestic eagles as they fly

Empty shells of what they could of been.
They had little future but it was theirs.

Young, their wings not grown

Gone and authorities seem not to care

Cold lost souls, stolen lives they had never known.
