#TankaTuesday 2/8/22 #Poetry Challenge No. 260, #SpecificForm: Abhanga

Welcome to Colleen Chesebro’s #TANKATUESDAY!

The form is: Abhanga.

My Abhanga is in praise of a new day and is inspired by the video below. The song by Imogen Heap, Xizi She Knows is in praise of the dawn and shows a city waking to a new day. The old man doing Ti Chi at the beginning and the older lady who throws her arms wide and screams her greeting to the dawn, (just before the shot of people throwing leaves off of a bridge) and the man with the gold flag are the shots that truly lift my soul.The whole video is a joyful greeting to the day.

In praise of the New Day.

We greet the new morning
Full of bright new promise
Energy slow release
A brand new day.

Time stands frozen and still
A city wakes, eyes wide
Roads are filled, rivers plied
Worship the sun

Collars turned to the cold
Hats and gloves combat chills
Birds fill the air with trills
Covered in frost.

Another chance to breathe
God give us a new day
And a push on our way
Praise be, thank you.

2020 WEEKLY #TANKA TUESDAY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 204, #THEMEPROMPT

WELCOME TO TANKA TUESDAY!

It’s the fourth week of the month! Are you ready for a theme prompt?

This month’s theme is a haiku written by Sue Vincent:

clouds cover the moon,
beyond dawn’s pale horizon
sun rises unseen
.

©2020 Sue Vincent

Please use the above haiku to inspire your own syllabic poetry. There’s a lot to unpack in these words. What will your interpretation be? Go where the words take you.

I wrote an Etheree in honour of the Dawn.

New Hope

A
Sliver
Of silver.
A ray of hope
Night shades wrapped and cloaked.
Dawn dancing on her way
With stealth she starts a new day
Silver and gold look glorious
Bright skirts swirling around, hope for us.
Secretly ringing the changes of life.

This is part of Colleen Chesebro’s Tuesday Tanka.

Colleen’s 2019 Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 154 #PhotoPrompt

It is the middle Tuesday of the month. This month we will use a photo chosen by last month’s “Photo-Prompt” Poet of the Week ~ Linda Lee Lyberg.

I have written a Tanka. Celebrating another day.

And So The Dawn

Come beautiful birds
Fill the skies, grace my eyes
Share with me the dawn
Together we awaken
The beauty of tomorrow

Have a good week everyone

This is part of of Colleen Chesebro’s Tuesday Tanka.

Viva Mexico.

The moon lingers

Jealously holding on

Wanting to stay

The sun not ready for the day.

The beach is deserted

Not a soul in sight

The sun slowly awakening

Tired from the night.

Slowly the sun climbs in the sky

Revealing a beach to make you sigh.

Yellow and blue are to be seen

Now lit by the sun, all new and pristine.

September Music 16

For the month of September I am going to choose a piece of music or song and write a poem or alternative version. Jane Dougherty is doing a September Stanza here. And Kat Myrman is doing September a poem a day Here.

Today’s piece of music is Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel

My interpretation.

Peace

Quiet

At sunset

And sunrise too

Colours melding bright

Old friends are well met

All of God’s creation

Knows exactly what to do

Nature rests and soon will renew

All the horizons are lit with hope

For a peaceful night or a bright new day.

Wings at Dawn.

The wind in my feathers, I rise

My sharp eyes see eternity

Making my way into grey skies.

Like my soul I fly free.

The land spreads beneath

From mountains to beach

Golden field and green leaf

As for my destiny I reach.

Tiny pink buds dance in the mist

The day will lengthen and warm

All will be bright and sun kissed

This is the promise of dawn.

dark-dawn

Tinged with violet

Gold rays of  the new born day

Beautiful yet bleak.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ava opened  her  eyes  and  looked  to  the  horizon, her bones  ached , sleeping  in the car  was  not  good  for  anyone. The  view  that greeted  her  lifted  her  spirits. The  dawn was  creeping  in  from the  horizon. Violet in hue , gold tinged  it gave  the  road  and  the tree line  a magical  feel.
Rubbing her  eyes  Ava  promised herself  she  would  never,ever sleep in  the car again. Taking  a moment  she stepped out of  the car  and stretched, the  sky  was hypnotic  it  called her  and  she was  too tired  to argue . Moving  round  the car  she stood  and  breathed in the  raw  morning  air as  she drank in the  dawn sky.
Thinking of  home  she  had  the urge to get back  to  James  and  his  comfy  bed and hot lips. She  turned  back  to the car  only  to be  frozen in the lights of  the huge lorry. She had  no where  to  go  the truck took her off  the  road  and  threw her back down with a thud  before  flattening  the life out of  her.
Looking  down at  her  battered  and bashed  body  Ava  thought  what a shame  she  would  not taste  James again…………… she  turned  and  walked  up  into  the violet  sky towards  the  golden opening.
The  truck driver  felt  the bang, he had not  seen her but  he  was  so  shocked  to find her under his wheels. He looked up into  the violet  and  golden dawn, he  thought he  could  see something in  the  clouds, just  for a  second. He looked  at  the sky  and  then pulled out his  phone  and  dialed 999 knowing  as he did it  was already  too late.
Two Feet and Four Paws.
In the early morning quiet
Feeling the first warmth of the sun
Mist on the  grass startled bird in flight
Peace before another day has begun.
Two feet and four paws move in tandem
This path is ours  we know it well
Fate has us together yet it is not random
Two  feet,  four paws breaking the dawn’s spell.
Gently we cross the fields of green
Four paws faster than two feet
In the early morning quiet we are seen
Together and happy we are complete.
A picture  of  the hubby   walking  Ruby.  Why  not  a photo of  me ….. Because  I  was  walking her  and  there  was  no one  to  take a  photo of Ruby and  me at  6.30 am!
Here is one of  Ruby  after  her  return  !
